Using a water based sealer like mod podge will cause the inkjet ink to bleed no matter how delicately you brush it on. Try sealing the shrunk plastic with Krylon Workable Fixatif spray before doming with uv resin or dimensional magic. Good luck!

I made my grandchildren handprints on shrink plastic .
      Then glazed with dimensional magic.
      Never any problem.

@@nenaj5825 yeah, the commentor addressed dimensional magic as a good sealant before mod podge. because dimensional magic is not water based. that's why you didn't have any issues

I've been using dimensional magic on my shrink plastic with no problem but I don't use printable plastic. I just draw and paint on it. I don't use a sealant first, I just use the dimensional magic and it looks great. Not cloudy at all just clear. Also I think the problem was that you applied a very thick coat of dimensional magic, maybe if you did a thinner coat it would be clear already, seems to me that inside it's still soft and so that's why is not clear. Thinner coats are better even if you have to apply a 2nd one later. Never tried uv resin, always see people having great results with it but I'm liking my magic thank you 😂 hope it helps ☺️

Thats fantastic that you got it to work so well! I have tried thinner coats and had no luck with it . . Think I'm a resin girl now! Lol! Thanks so much for the comment. 💚

My issue with the resin, is that one has to wear a mask. seriously. It is very unsafe if you do not. That is why I was trying the Mod Podge Dimensional. I wanted to use something that didn't give off toxic fumes for me or my pup.

When you keep referring to the comparisons using 'mod podge', are you referring to the dimensional magic or the mod podge glue/sealer?

Maybe the cloudiness is a humidity issue? I haven't tried it yet.I live in a very humid climate.

Actually good to know it's cloudy. I am using it for a miniature project I'm making and I wanted to see how it worked and how it looked dry. I'm using it to fill in a small duck pond =) Thanks for showing the difference. I would get resin, but it's just so expensive.

Lovely video and thanks for posting, definitely recommend using a heat gun or lighter to get rid of the bubbles. But once again thanks for the advice using the Modgepodge 👌👏👏

A quick wave of a lighter or a torch (like a kitchen cooking one) will take those bubbles away! (before putting under lamp) Good luck!

did you try matte mod podge (for paper)? if I'm not mistaken same happens with watercolour and I know people use the matte for their paper art, which at times has watercolor pencil.
also did you try Posca pens? they're acrylic paint pens. you can also get the liquid paint separately and use them with their empty pen line. they have an enormous nib selection and their colour selection is also ridiculous. Molotow pens are also good, and they also have refills.

I make little clay pins and put uv resin over the top, at the beginning I had Bubbles galore now I heat the resin up a little by putting the bottle under my arm pit or in my bra!!!! for a few minutes so my skin heats it a little, then after I have applied it I leave it for a minute or two then use a lighter to take out any Bubbles left, I never get pins completely bubble free but this method works best for me hope this helps

With the resin, you can put it in a glass of warm water and or spray with99% rubbing alcohol and or use a heat gun or torch lighter. I use the rubbing alcohol find that works well and also torch lighter.

This seems to be a common issue, what do I coat my work with? Well you just saved me some money on mod podge. The stores are full of the stuff, what are people using it for? But the resin and light, do I really need to invest in that?

I hear respirator or you're really harming yourself. It's not to be taken lightly. Not a mask but a real respirator. But hey, I'm just a comment on CZcams.

    • @shiekgirl5
      @shiekgirl5 Před 2 lety +3

Resin is very toxic. I’ve noticed that u.v resin linger longer then a two part. I use a respiratory mask and highly recommend you being in a well vented area because the smell will linger for a while if you don’t and it can make you feel sick(also no animals or other people should be allowed in the room during the process and a few hours after. Maybe even a day depending on the size of the room). I have never used vinyl with resin but sometimes I would make charms with images I printed on regular paper. I would just coat the paper in regular mod podge about 3-4 times to make sure it was cover and the mod podge protected the paper. So try it and if the resin does something with the vinyl you can try giving it a protective coat next time.
