WOW, excellent. most posters can't get their hands out of the view of the camera. IO don't want to disassemble my hands, thank you.
Great video! I was doing a gun cleaning for an FN 509 and this was perfect! Thank you for the full disassembly.
Was able to swap my ambi mag release for a right handed one in less than 5 minutes thanks to this video!
The mag release spring tool you used comes in a kit in the RV section at stores to put the springs in a bug screen for heat vents on hot water heater in rv
Thanks man I finally got mine delivered and installed just now. It's so much better
Couldn't figure out why my magazine bottom plate kept sliding forward. Finally fixed it thanks to your magazine break down. Thanks a bunch!!
Great job! One add, I put the lower back into the install fixture to reinstall the block pin.
Have myself a 509 Tactical with an RMR06 and Surefire X300U-A. Have my Omega 9K in ATF Jail awaiting approval on my Form 4. I so far love mine. Will be upgrading to the Apex HD firing pin from the factory one.
Worked on Fn 509 thank you sir.
wow ty man great video i just got a 509 2 weeks ago ...this is a great information ty sir
Thank you sir. Very concise and informative. Will stay tuned.
I'm a machinist and found that a small press works great for removing the pin. Even better is to use the Apex fixture in combination with a small press. Just my thoughts and I have been able to find small presses for sale at some yard sales or estate sales at very good prices.
Hope this helped.
Oh absolutely a small press would be ideal for this stupid pin
Thanks for the video. There is no way I am trying that but good to see.
Thanks for the video brother, helped me out big time!
Great job. Clear and concise. Thanks for taken the time to do this video.
Excellent Video! Thanks!
You really saved my bacon with this video. Thank you so much
Very helpful video, thank you!
Thanks for the video
Thank you for making this video 🔥💯🤘🍻
Amazing video, thanks for putting in the time to make this for noobs like myself.
How do I change the back strap? Been hammering in a punch and can’t release the pin to change the backatrap.
Me either. 😢 UGH!
Great video. No detailed missed. I'm guessing FN recommends a new pin because it will get mushroomed from driving it out with a punch. I'm sure they install that pin with a hydraulic press.
Too bad FN can’t build these with a decent trigger. Just ordered an Apex. This video is the only one I’ve seen with complete breakdown and reassembly. MCARBO has a very good one showing the spring replacement
I'm proud of you.
How do you change backstrap
Need to do a FN 502 disassembly video soon.
Love it
I’m pretty positive I reassembled everything correctly, it functions properly in all non firing test but when I went & fired my pistol the 1st time it wasn’t cycling. It would eject the spent round & the chamber would stay open as if the mag was empty. Any advise would be greatly appreciated!
You’re awesome.
Looks to me like a valve core remover lol thanks for the vid so I know what I'm getting into. I can't find the apex ANYWHERE so I'm going to polish what I have up and see what happens it's already gotten a lot better with the little I've done. And the pmm comp is the tits! I have one on mine I love it the way it looks is icing on the cake!
thanks. how does the firing pin block stop the striker from passing by? it doesn't look like it would work but obviously it does
Bro u took everything but the sights off and that's exactly what I need lol dope video anyway tho💪🏾💯🤝🏾
Same here I need to zero my red dot and wanted to see someone remove the rear iron sight lmao. Too funny
Make sure you are careful with what ammo you feed your FN 509c MRD with. Bought mine last month, 2 weeks later took it to the firing range for the first time and the frame/handle cracked. Sent it to FN and they said "sorry for your luck, must have been your ammo, warranty denied."
Was shooting factory federal HST 9mm +P's and it was evidently too much for it.
Wont sell me a replacement frame etc, its either buy a new gun or nothing.
Retired LE after 35 years. Was using duty ammo that my glock 17 had no problem with. Totally disgusted with the company.
Really really wanted to like this gun and maybe I just got a fluke but after this I will never buy another FN.
You must’ve been using some really cheap and poorly made ammo or reused casings that weren’t properly made. It’s definitely not the gun.
@@ChiefChokeAHoe Very very possible Mike, I was law-enforcement For 35 years and there were times where we had leftover ammo so I would put it in a 10 and save it so there are many possibilities. The thing that ticked me off more than anything was how the company responded to my issue with a brand new gun. If they had sold me just the frame to replace the broken one I would’ve been a happy camper. very unhappy with how they responded to a customers issue.
@@gibbeyii That’s odd… I’ve seen multiple people break their frames doing trigger installs, every time they’ve send their frame into FN but had to pay like $150 for new one.
yeah it's literally just a glock for hipsters
Where Glock really shines is their customer service. I had an FNX several years ago with the soft / "flexy" frame issue. FN never returned either of the 3 phone calls/messages or the numerous emails I left. Even though it was a known issue at the time. FN customer service: fail. Found this video to help troubleshoot for a buddy who's stuck on some technical issues with his and FN is being less than responsive again. Thank you so much.
Question. I took apart the gun and put it back together. I tried to load the gun, but when I tried to cock it, the round got stuck. I have to force it closed.
Did I not put it back together right somehow?
Is anyone else slide release real stiff for left handers? How do you make the slide release smoother?
How to take the backstrap off the 509
I’ve been looking as well. It’s hard
5/64 punch
What punch set do you have?
My trigger pin came out from left to right as natural as you could expect, but every other video shows from left to right, would that mean all my pins would remover from left to right?
My take down lever gets stuck on my 509 tactical. Any tips? I've pulled the trigger both before and after slide is locked open. Still stuck. It will open when the slide is not locked back but once slide is locked back, I can't get the take down lever to come down.
Overall, it was a great video!
Will this 509 fire after water emersion?
Have u had that pin out before bc it didn't look like it came out very difficult
Also while I’m on here does anyone know where to purchase a new unlocking block pin for this pistol other than from Midwest? I’ve had my apex trigger for almost a year & cannot get the pin they recommend replacing during install

Changing blackstrap?
Any idea how to put a mag fallower back on
Can anyone help with my 509 apex trigger is somewhat installed but i tried the slide on without takedown lever and now slide doesn't want to come off
Why does nobody with these (complete dissasemble/reassemble videos not take the trigger shoe off the bar?
What punch set are you using?
Whats the size for the hole punch taht removes the backstarp? Help me out brotha
Question for you! I was cleaning my FN 509 after it had been sitting a while and afterwards noticed the trigger doesn't reset properly. If I dry fire and hold the trigger while racking the slide, I will have to manually push the trigger forward. The trigger itself feels super gritty and stiff compared to other 509s. Any idea where I should look?
I'm having this exact same issue. I also noticed that the trigger pull weight is ridiculously high. I followed all the steps in this dudes video hoping it would fix it & nothing
@@kalebsmith325 any word on this ? Mine as well.
@@6feet1deep Nope unfortunately. I have been keeping it in the safe. Probably just going to install a new trigger whenever I get around to it.
Maybe check the firing pin spring. Same thing happened on my fns 9. Took apart the slide, took the spring and wound the front a bit tighter. Problem fixed.
I absolutely hate the sear block configuration on the fn pistols. Good video.
I just scored a apex trigger for my 509t then seen all the posts about cracking frames and now I'm worried lol.
I stuck the mcarbo spring kit in it a while back and don't think I had to remove that front pin but I can't remember.
Just got my locking block pin out with no cracking thank God lol.
Used a punch slightly smaller in diameter and a bench block with a blue paper towel over it folded in 2 under the parts with gaps to have some thing the frame would rest tight on and I easily knocked the pin around in a circle with a punch that is tapered and probably 4 mm long till it came loose some then I used a longer punch doing light hits till it came out and was so relieved once it was halfway out with no problem.
My apex trigger should be here by Wednesday or so.
I used a smaller 4 inch steel hammer too and not a big mallet, heard of a guy using a hair dryer to soften his so it wasn't as brittle but I didnt try that since mine came loose with less force than the usual AR-15 roll pin.
Came to see you remove the backstrap but never happened lol ill figure it out...... great video by the way
is this FULL size?
I bought a FN 509 compact mrd fd and when I shot it I had nothing but issues. I shot over 300 rounds with quite a bit of failure to feed, failure to fully eject and the slide not locking back when emptied. Tried different grain Winchester full metal jacket 9mm 115 grain then the Federal Premium 147 grain. Have you ran into any issue or have any advice? Thank you
Have you tried the different recoil spring it comes with? The full size comes with a lighter weight for shooting suppressed, maybe the lighter spring got put in by accident and you need to put the heavier one in.
How did he take every single tiny micro piece apart off this gun, except for the one thing I wanted to know how to take apart... 😅
What part lol
Rear sight for the red dot zero lol np I'm sure it's a pretty generic process across most handguns 🔫
@@TheGunBench I still need the rest of the video for my Apex trigger and striker swap so ty
Tire valve stem installer/remover
Try some hot glue to keep it on the block.
I don’t wanna hurt my Karla 😔😂
When I saw that hammer get into the mix, I went and apologized to my Glock for cheating on it.
Srsly though the 509 is pretty friggin' awesome
My favorite part was when my firing pin spring shot out on to the floor
When you get your RMR will you sell me your vortex sight?

Thank you good sir. I managed to not fuck the trigger swap up.
Rv tech big screen tool
QUESTION>>> what are you hiding behind your massive big hands?? Is this why I can't work on my gub?
38:00 38:00
FN USA is a great company, but what the heck were they thinking when they decided to use those 3 dumbass pins???
So this is basically a $900 dollar Glock lol
You should really breathe through you nose its so much better for your overall health. Nonetheless great job on the video !
Wish I could, constantly congested, it’s actually a lot better now than it used to be.
Why the fuck is everyone’s pin looser then mine lol
