    I'm a machinist and found that a small press works great for removing the pin. Even better is to use the Apex fixture in combination with a small press. Just my thoughts and I have been able to find small presses for sale at some yard sales or estate sales at very good prices.
    Hope this helped.

    Make sure you are careful with what ammo you feed your FN 509c MRD with. Bought mine last month, 2 weeks later took it to the firing range for the first time and the frame/handle cracked. Sent it to FN and they said "sorry for your luck, must have been your ammo, warranty denied."
    Was shooting factory federal HST 9mm +P's and it was evidently too much for it.
    Wont sell me a replacement frame etc, its either buy a new gun or nothing.
    Retired LE after 35 years. Was using duty ammo that my glock 17 had no problem with. Totally disgusted with the company.
    Really really wanted to like this gun and maybe I just got a fluke but after this I will never buy another FN.

    • @ChiefChokeAHoe
      @ChiefChokeAHoe Před rokem

      You must’ve been using some really cheap and poorly made ammo or reused casings that weren’t properly made. It’s definitely not the gun.

      @@ChiefChokeAHoe Very very possible Mike, I was law-enforcement For 35 years and there were times where we had leftover ammo so I would put it in a 10 and save it so there are many possibilities. The thing that ticked me off more than anything was how the company responded to my issue with a brand new gun. If they had sold me just the frame to replace the broken one I would’ve been a happy camper. very unhappy with how they responded to a customers issue.

      Where Glock really shines is their customer service. I had an FNX several years ago with the soft / "flexy" frame issue. FN never returned either of the 3 phone calls/messages or the numerous emails I left. Even though it was a known issue at the time. FN customer service: fail. Found this video to help troubleshoot for a buddy who's stuck on some technical issues with his and FN is being less than responsive again. Thank you so much.

    Question for you! I was cleaning my FN 509 after it had been sitting a while and afterwards noticed the trigger doesn't reset properly. If I dry fire and hold the trigger while racking the slide, I will have to manually push the trigger forward. The trigger itself feels super gritty and stiff compared to other 509s. I just scored a apex trigger for my 509t then seen all the posts about cracking frames and now I'm worried lol.

    • @darknature79

      Just got my locking block pin out with no cracking thank God lol.
      Used a punch slightly smaller in diameter and a bench block with a blue paper towel over it folded in 2 under the parts with gaps to have some thing the frame would rest tight on and I easily knocked the pin around in a circle with a punch that is tapered and probably 4 mm long till it came loose some then I used a longer punch doing light hits till it came out and was so relieved once it was halfway out with no problem.
      My apex trigger should be here by Wednesday or so.

      I used a smaller 4 inch steel hammer too and not a big mallet, heard of a guy using a hair dryer to soften his so it wasn't as brittle but I didnt try that since mine came loose with less force than the usual AR-15 roll pin.

    • @TheGunBench

      Have you tried the different recoil spring it comes with? The full size comes with a lighter weight for shooting suppressed, maybe the lighter spring got put in by accident and you need to put the heavier one in.
