I really love the fact you explain why to those that don't know, and that's important in my opinion. I get clients that ask about letting their nails breathe all the time! Lol
All great info! #9 - I just had a discussion about this last week. The checkout clerk at the grocery was admiring my nails (of course lol) and her friend started telling her and me how they'd dry quicker if you dunk them in ice water. I jumped in and corrected her - I told her that just dries the very top but underneath it stays wet and mushy and if you knock them or scrape them you're screwed. Then I told them about quick dry topcoat and they were amazed lol! Spreading knowledge one person at all time! ✌❤💅
KimShea22 yaaaas 😛 And its actually very much youtube videos that make such myths ... Someone (with lack of knowledge) makes a video spraying cooking fat on the nails and because its so weird/stupid it goes viral. Then 300 new videos about the same are made because those persons wants a viral video too. And then the snowball rolls ... Facebook nail groups is also a mekka of false information (at least in my country). Its actually very frustrating to read in those groups because of the amount of absolutely stupid stuff being said ... Personally I love Doug Schoons books and face to face videos 😍 Thats where I get my knowledge 👍
Just wondering what is your favorite quick dry top coat for just regular polish?
As a nail tech, I appreciate videos like this more than you will ever know. I get clients watching CZcams and then telling me how to do my job. Thank you for putting great information out there.
So you're the one who says your nails need to breathe! I kid. Lol
MsButterFlySting80 I've never used that excuse, but I might start. We all have those clients that push us to the limit.
Kris Montoya oh I figured so, I was kidding as she was too! Meant no offense dear! My sense of humour doesn't come off so well with social media, sorry.
MsButterFlySting80 I knew it was a joke. I thought it was funny.
Kris Montoya ah ok good good
Youre like the english suzie... Im studying to be a kosmetologist and a nail tech.. mostly because its hard to become a full time nail tech in denmark so i try to have skin care in my repitua also...
Lulubassen Booo pøj pøj med det 😍 Vh Lisa
Could you do a video on pedicures as well? I used to do nails and had to fuss at clients who used those horrid "cheese grater" files to remove calluses. Too many shops use them, plus they never sterilize their metal implements between clients. My state has very strict laws for nail techs, but sadly, all too many "chop shops" ignore them all. Great video, thanks for spreading good info about nail care!
#1 - Nuh uh! Not if you paint lungs on them. I'll go now.
E Dunlap that is too funny!! Thanks for making my day better!
Finally -- someone laughed at one of my corny as s jokes!😁
this is great. I love this comment.
LOL I dont know if you have seen the picture where someone have drawn diving masks on the nails? 😂 You dont want your nails to drown when youre in the pool, doing the dishes etc!!!!
Welp....she has done whiteheads....pop!
About #9, most solvents used in nail polish (often acetone or ethylacetate) are soluble in water. The problem is that putting polished nails in water is that it takes the solvent out of the upper layer, but the polish underneath is still wet. Another thing is that ice water obviously cools the polish, which actually slows down the evaporation of the solvent. (The solvent are chosen because they're volatile and thus dry quickly, cooling makes them less volatile)
So actually in theory you could dry your nails faster if you do very very thin coats and then dunk them in warm water with every single coat, but that's gonna take way more time and effort than to just wait till they're dry.
Love the video :) I’ve had a nail tech tell me to “let my nails breathe” but what she meant was to just give them a little break. I was wearing acrylic nails for so long and my fingers were hurting because my nails were paper thin from getting over filed.
Youre such a great youtuber natasha one of my favs thanks for exposing all these nail myths!!
This is one of the most useful video about nails I need at the moment ❤❤❤
Super informative. I'm going to totally learn, off by heart, all you've said. When I've tried to explain these things to clients, I just sound like I'm babbling! Lol. Your explanations were straight to the point and easy to understand and babble free! Thank you for this xxx
OMG THANK YOU NATASHA!!!! As a qualified tech hearing people say these things drives me nuts! I'm so glad you have made this video! Love it!!
*Terrific* video, Natasha; I absolutely loved it! Not only did you address all those myths/questions honestly, but also *succinctly*, which, in my opinion, makes all the difference when it comes to getting that information across. 👍
You’re a great educator! 👌😀
Many thanks, from Melbourne, Australia. xx
GREAT video!! I have heard so many of these things and it is great to hear the true facts! Thank you as always!
You honestly are precious to the nail industry! Thank you as a nail tech for saying out loud what we are trying to point out all that time. Much love from Poland ❤️
Natasha I have to say this video is one of my favs. I knew most of these however could never explain the ‘why’. You explained them all perfectly and gave me a better understanding so thank you so much.
I absolutely love your videos! Your personality makes them so much better than any other nail channels
So helpful and informative. My nails are just sassy. They do there own thing seemingly no matter what I do. I started watching your channel to get inspiration to start trying again. These tips were VERY helpful.

This video was great! I’m an aspiring nail tech & proficient nail artist & I learned SO much! So clear & precise! Thank you so much for sharing this information! ❤️
I've had some really pretty nail varnishes over the years that I've binned because they just take too long to dry and leave the dreaded sheet marks despite doing them hours before going to bed.....oh the pain of beauty....lol
The most beautiful, elegant, and articulate way to be flipped the bird... Lol I adore you 💖 I learned alot, from this all jokes aside.
Thanks natasha lee this was very very helpful

You are the best at explaining this. I just love this. Totally better than my schooling which was behind on, well everything.
The internet (basically the wonderful people on it) is/are the best teacher(s) ever!!!💗
telling the eponychium from cuticle isn't always easy. Thanks for the clear description and images.
Absolutely flippin fantastic !!!!!!! Love this so much you are singing my song xxxx

I enjoy your videos so much.... Sharing this many of my friends
Honestly you're one of the youtubers whos content could be behind a pay wall and still be worth it but I'm poor so I'm very grateful you offer it free. I will support as soon as I can
Thanks Natasha!
Thank you so very much for this video. It WILL be shared with a few friends.
Yesssssss!! All your info is spot on and it's crazy how much misinformation is out there, even among nail techs and medical professionals! I prefer to do my own nails most of the time because it seems like it's soooo difficult to find someone who can properly and efficiently do them. Although going in for a hand soak and hand and arm massage is a lovely way to pamper myself 😉
The take-a-break bit had me howling: my husband came running in because he thought I was having an issue 🤣 Thx for spreading the knowledge for us newly DIY folks 😉
Everyone: This video is excellent for educating students, new and experienced nail technicians. I was an instructor for over 20 years, and I agree with everything Natasha has said. These "myths" still come up time and again. Pay attention to what Natasha says! On myth #6, I really like your anatomy of the nail image, as it clearly shows the exact areas of the cuticle and the eponychium. From years past, and even fairly recently, I have seen publications (including nail textbooks) that give really poor labeling on their diagrams., with contradictory descriptions of these parts. For years I researched this for the correct versions! Fortunately I see more correct versions now being discussed. For the future Natasha, talk about the nail plate versus the nail bed, as I think you know, so many are miss miss identifying these. Great educational video!

Thank you very much for this. I been trying to take better care of my nails.
I love your no nonsense approach! So many people are ignorant to a lot of the myths out there, I agree with a previous comment, you are the British equivalent of Suzi! Keep on with the excellent content.
this was such an interesting video!
just found your video and i can never agree more
you just have a new subscriber ♡
Thank you! I do nails as a hobby to my mom, my sister and some girl friends and your videos helps a lot, thank you again. Wish awesome thanks 😊
As a nail tech, I can second all of what Natasha says. Especially the nail biter tip. I love that you made this video super clear for non techs. Keep up the amazing work.
There are vitamins for nail and hair with biotin that work. But proper diet and eating healthy can do the same.
You are a goddess!!! I love you and your tutorials!!!! Thank you 💞💞
Great information !
Very good information!
Loved this video.
Thanks for the video. 🌻
Great info!!!
Great video Natasha❤️👍🏼
Wow I love this video, I’m a polygel gel nail technician and totally love how you’ve put over this video, so informative for sure, I will remember all of your amazing advice, I also find that the most damage I see with clients nails is from them picking of gel or enhancements and the dreaded NS SALONS, I’ve had to make the decision to a particular client of mine to leave off all products for a while as she just can’t stop picking off gel and I’ve told her I’m not putting on gel as I can’t be responsible for the continuous damage she’s causing he own nails x
Great video, Natasha! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 I totally agree with every myth. I get a lot of comments about how hard or soft gel ruins their nails and/or lift. It’s definitely due to improper application and removal. Have a fabulous day!
Wow this was so helpful! Another reason to paint my nails😁. I have a horrible time trying to get the cuticle off of my nail plate.
i loved this video!!
ty natasha these helped me alot!
I didn't know you had PCOS, I do too, I've got hardly any hair left, I've even stopped blow drying and straightening my hair now because that obviously doesn't help matters😂 excellent video BTW 😁 xx
Thank you so much for this video ! I’ve always wondered why gel did not stick to my nails 😣 now I know why thanks to you Natasha ! My nails are soft and bendy so I’ll switch from builder gel to liquid and powder. Tip 3 was so helpful ! 😊
Thank you so much for posting this!!! I try to tell all of my clients these things, but I don't do nails full time, I do hair, so they don't listen!
Liked this a lot
Love your channel
TFS! You are one of the few people I have heard stating that the white spots are from trauma. Years ago I clipped through one of them and was able to observe little slivers of nail fall out confirming that I has shattered my nail through some kind of trauma. Thank you very much for confirming my observations!
Your knowledge just gained you one more subscriber.
I’ve been having this debate for too long. Thank you
Btw I died when you said they don’t have lungs. 😂
Great Video!
Thank you so muchi learnt a lot from this video.i shall share this x
You turned me on to Skyscraper Foundation & it’s been 2 weeks & not a lift in sight(& I’m a PROBLEM lifter), & I just wanted to thank you!!
Thank you this is very good ... from someone who has long nails and keeps nail polish on them
Great video!😀
