Do you do something that your nail techs hates and you don't even realise? My professional nail tech friend Emma shared a post this week that was a jokey, tongue-in-cheek look behind the scenes and in the head of a nail tech, so we decided to film it together as a parody. So true! I have actually asked three clients to leave. They kept texting or talking on their phone, one had a toddler, who ran around, could not leave the things on the table be. The acrylic liquid was all over the place, she tried to get up on the table and the mother just smiled! After that I said no phones and no, they could not bring their children anymore. I learned to be honest about what I want to put up with. My customers fully understand that now. It gives a much more relaxing atmosphere and they leave relaxed, with a smile and a job well done.
No children? Sounds good, but you should see the salon I went to in Wales. Dogs allowed to roam freely cocking their legs up, barking and pestering customers and slobbering everywhere.

PAY ATTENTION to this: To all nail students and new nail techs, these real client scenarios (with some exaggeration effect for comedy) do happen. It is extra work trying to find ways to be one step ahead of the client to avoid issues. However, there are so many great clients, also, and many who are very helpful! Natasha and Emma , such a good job the on "role playing" and a great job on the video! I wish this video was around when I was teaching!
I do my own gel nails at home and fully appreciate the hard work that goes into them, if I was a nail technician I'd be scared I'd impale my stiletto nail in their forehead.....lol, thanks for the video gave me a good laugh, I respect your patience 👍

Ok ... it’s a few hours later and I’ve finally been able to finish this. I SO LOVE this video!!
First things first: BIG shout out to Emma for doing this so brilliantly, AND for being brilliant whilst wearing a shirt representing my town!! I’m a driver for Uber here in Los Angeles (or L’Sangeleeeeez, as you say it), and I’ve just thisminute discovered that we share a few similarities in our work: we both work in an intimate setting (my car is small), and on the longer drives, people tell me e v e r y t h I n g, so what happens in my car stays in my car. Also, I have driver amnesia!! People come and go all day and half the time, I can’t remember anything 5 minutes after they leave!
This was so funny. When she propped her foot on the table, I almost fell over laughing. Thanks for the laughs, and I promise to never do any of this stuff.

Lord, I'd be bald in a week!! At least I can truthfully say that I can't identify with any of this - I'm "the friend with the Ebay kit", I can't afford a nail tech! 😂
Any time I go for nails or hair (rare, I do both myself usually...) I freeze and dont move unless they say to. One lovely lady had to remind me to breath a few times when working my pinkies. Lol I have oddly shakey pinkies.

I wish people would just respect each other and the work that they do. There is so much disrespect in so many different careers it’s crazy!

ughhhh the pain is real. I don't normally do other's nails but I'm a makeup artist and I can still relate to most of these.

I shared this with my own nail tech (with whom I have an appointment in two hours, I'm going to have to do some of these...) and it took less than five minutes before she replied "I'm gonna have a panic attack."

I've never had someone put their foot on my table, but I've had clients put their foot in my lap under the table. Repeatedly.

Dear Natasha, this is such a funny and true video. This also applies in hairdressing, we have had a hair and beauty salon for forty years and I have been a qualified nail tech for that long and in that time I have met them all. Clients have done everything you can think of including having to take clients to the toilet because they can't wait for their nails to dry. I have had people not pay at all just say they are going to the cash point and not come back. I have even had to feed and change nappies for clients who have brought their children with them. I had one lady who had lost the end of her finger in an accident ask for a discount because she didn't have ten digits, so I had to go and work out how much each finger cost and deduct that price for the service. I am praying someone comes in with 11 digits before I retire so I can charge them for the extra one. So I really get where you are coming from and well done on an excellent video, Emma was classic.
Feed and change nappies??!! 🤮 I absolutely would not agree to that under any circumstances. It is not part of being a nail tech. I wouldn't tolerate that even if someone had a gun to my head. 🤮

This was absolutely brilliant! I've sat next to clients that do stuff like this. The only thing I can say I am guilty of is my hands don't relax and the poor nail tech has to remind me to relax. What a lot don't know is that when the client's hands are tense, it actually hurts the nail techs hands more! But my God some women in salons are a nightmare. Many time's I've said PUT YOUR BLOODY PHONE DOWN WOMAN, SHE'S TRYING TO DO YOUR NAILS. I stick up for nail techs. And bugger me it IS rocket science because of all the chemicals! You two neeeeeeed to do more videos together! You are a dangerously funny duo!!!!
Mairwyn Curtis same. I have an issue with the relaxing, but my nail tech knows and taps my finger gently and I realize to relax haha

This was amusing to watch and annoying for any professional nail tech to deal with! When I used to go to a salon, I have observed customers like this and the next appointment had to wait. One came in demanded they remove the glitter as it was blinding her while driving!😨😨😨 As I was waiting for my tech, I suggested to the customer to keep her eyes on the road not her nails. These days I would not have patience for such a pain in the rear! Unfortunately it's everywhere! TFS😉😉😉
OMG that’s a new one for me!! I’ve had clients message me after their appointments to say they nearly crashed on the way home as they were staring at their nails not the road 🙈

The only thing I can honestly admit to is running late lol but in that case I'll settle for something simple and always call or text to say I am
If I can't make it I always give plenty of notice like at least 24hours (unless an emergency has popped up or I've come down sick that morning) so they can book someone else in my timeslot.
Anyway that's pretty rare for me.😊
Peeps just remember what most of our mothers always taught us. Treat others how you wanna be treated. In other words, a little respect girls!!

Well, I can tell you from my point of view that this do happen - usually it's a client who comes in with a four different pictures from Instagram and wants ALL of those designs on at the same time🤦🏼♀️

I haven't even had anything done other than a basic manicure when my course teacher was learning to do manicures on the evenings and needed someone to do nails on for a class. It was as basic as it could get. This is making me cringe so much. I can't believe some people are actually like this.

You aren't just simply painting nails you are artists and if it was so easy for someone to do themselves they wouldn't come to you would they. This was amazingly funny! I loved it! I've never been to the salon, always preferring to paint my nails at home, so I never realized what crazy things people do. What’s ironic is that Emma had to delete her original post and consequently I removed the mentions of her business page because she got badly trolled by 2 people after I shared it on my business Facebook page. They were both non-techs so I can only assume it offended them because they did one or more of the points!! Every tech has agreed with it 😂😂

I'm so glad that the only one I've been guilty of is not being able to relax my hand and I have arthritis, so it's not even my fault, lol.
I had lots of clients with arthritis and never minded that they couldn’t relax their hands or move them in a way I needed. It was the people without arthritis that were the issue!

I think everyone should be required to work in retail or other form of service interacting with the public. I think a lot of this would happen less often. So cringy and I've no doubt it all happens 🤨

I always say that, too! I work part time as a cashier in a supermarket besides university and the stuff people do!!!
Like, why can't you bring back the meat to the fridge section, or hand it to the cashier? I can't get up every 5 minutes to check the check out lane. So much food gets wasted because people just put stuff in random places or throw the yoghurt etc. in the basket and by the time they're at the till my register and I are all sticky because I grabbed into it and it spilled everywhere!
And you're never quick enough when they're standing in line, but if you're actually going fast that's not ok either (because the customer always has to bring two full baskets instead of using a shopping cart and then they try to do tetris with the groceries instead of wheeling the cart over to a quite place and calmly put their things away there).
Last time I went to get my hair done I had had an awful week at work and vented to my hair dresser. I was like "you can't imagine how rude and inconsiderate people are!" and then she told me about some of her horror customers and I was so surprised! I have been going to her for years and I'm always relaxed and happy (I usually go for the same thing, though, that might be a factor) but I guess a lot of what nailtechs have to endure hair dressers apparently have to suffer, too.
I’ve thought that, but I’ve also seen those people forget and become THOSE people as well.
In customer service or cs in a call center too. It would tone down a lot of attitudinals.

This was hilarious! I wish I could go to Salons, but I haven't found one that actually does my nails the way I like. I'm afraid I've learned too much from you! They're constantly cutting my "cuticles" (eponychium), or soaking my nails in water literally minutes before polishing. Seems I can't find what I'm looking for in my part of the US. But, since I started doing my nails myself, they have never been healthier. And, I literally thought Emma could have been your sister at first. You two have such a similar sense of humor. Great one!

Oh my gosh! As a client, I worry so much about inconveniencing my tech that it would never occur to me to do these things even if I really really wanted to change something or whatever. Once she’s started, I feel I’m locked in even though I know some things are probably not cast in stone. It’s hilarious to me that anyone would do these things! So glad I’m not guilty of many of these. I have been running late but I text her and let her know, and opted to have one solid colour instead of nail art, and she was extremely understanding! And honestly I’m so glad I’ve found myself a really good nail tech...I’m just gutted she’s going back to Australia soon! 😭
That was so nice to see the funny side of you..... and you are a snorter too!!! I always get laughed at for snorting when i laugh but at least you know its genuine!! Your friend is really funny too! My nail tech friends are incredibly talented and i respect them an awful lot.... even if im regularly 15 mins late for my pedi and tinting at the salon... they expect it as ive been going there for 15 years and we book to allow for it now lol
