GREAT TUTORIAL FOR STUDENTS AND NAIL TECHS. Natasha! I agree on all your points and factors, I have taught these points for many years. I even learnt a few new factors that I did not think about! Former Nail Technology Instructor for over 20 years.
Thank you kindly Annalisa ♥️
I just use straight up jojoba oil for my nail oil (thanks Simply!!) and it has saved my nails from breaking countless times. I always get asked how I keep my nails so long since I work at a restaurant and use my hands all the time.
As if Cristine is ever gonna see this
Great video as always Natasha :)
What's also really important to know is that not everyones nails are the same, and you might have to try out and adjust things. For example, I used to wipe my nails with alcohol before painting them but it didn't improve weartime. What I found out works better on my nails is if i first put on tons of jojoba oil and let it soak in for half an hour. Then I wash my nails with soap and water and let them air dry for about 5-10 minutes, and then I paint them. Even though this goes against all "rules", it just works best for me.
Yes finally a real nail tech that’s giving CORRECT information 😍
This video is absolutely amazing! It explains (finally someone) everything so clear and with good examples. Amazing. Thank you so much!
Great tips and information!! Thank you!!
I use jojoba oil every day since 2 months ago and my nails never grew faster! Thank you SO much for this video really helpful! ♥♥♥
It wasn’t until this video that I realized how long I’ve been watching u 😂 you were the first nail person to say (in a what video I can’t remember) that you shouldn’t be using low grit nail files. Like you didn’t deep dive but once you said it I went to Sally’s and have been using the same file for YEARS! Mine is Tropical Shine medium 220/320 and it’s perfect for my nails gets the job done quick harmless. I have really long natural nails so I swear by this file to not cause breakages
Brilliant video as usual - very helpful xx
Another smashing video! Ty!!
Love you Tasha! Thank you for this
These tips are great. Thank you for sharing.
Phew! So much information in one video! Fantastic!
Thank you for all these great tiips! Love your chanel!
thanks!!! so helpful! i need some cuticle oil now
Amazing video! I knew these things but always good to have a reminder! And love your voice and accent! I could listen to you all day!
Very helpful!!
Love your videos. Even the info we have already learned an excellent reminders and continuing nail ed. Thank you will try to apply all tips
I am glad I am not the only one to fall victim to the curse of toilet flush buttons! (See also - Car door handles). I’ve lost two nails to these buttons so I am absolutely thrilled by the knuckle suggestion! Ty!
I love you Natasha! You know so much about nails! Great video! Thanks, I learned a lot from you!
I love your videos Thank you!
thanks great advice🌺😌
Thanks! I bought some of the nail files from Amazon through your link!
Great advice . 👍
Thank you for all the information. I just recently stopped using my nails to open ring pulls and it makes a big difference. I have never used cuticle oil; thanks for reminding me to purchase it!
Such great advice! I've noticed a huge difference in my nails since I got into a good routine wroth cuticle oil and hand cream and since I switched to only using a glass file on my nails.
I just love you Natasha! You always give such great tips.
But, I'm still waiting for my bedtime story CZcams video 😂
I have short nails & cap them. I actually use liquid latex around the tips before paintingto make it easier to cap my nails without worrying about the mess. Works brilliantly.
Excellent, excellent video. Thank you so much. I am buying cuticle oil today! :)
amazing video
Ah, this will help so much people, thank you Natasha!
You’re welcome ♥️
Absolutely loved this, Tash, thank you! !! What is that gorgeous polish you've used in the demos? Lots of love xxx
OMG this entire video seems like it was especially for me as at each segment I said oh heck!! I'm a bugger for using my nails to pick stickers off too! Brilliant video thank you for doing it - I here by swear to follow your 10 tips from now on!!! xx
Hope it helps!! ♥️
Thank you Natasha!!!!❤❤
You're welcome Olivia xx
I'm LOVING your channel so much! New subbie so I'm binge watching your videos in random order lol
BUT I'm actually learning a few (a lot) of things for a change! 💕
A lot of the videos I watch on nail care are too repetitive, misleading or not in-depth enough.
I truly appreciate you taking the time to share your knowledge & properly inform viewers on actual FACTS!! TYSM! 💕
Loved, loved, loved this! Some of them I knew but also learned a lot. It’s rare to get more than lolz out of YT vids. Keep up the good work. Could you do a spring/summer nail art design that’s more hardcore than pretty? 🖤
You just earned a new subscriber. I loved these tips for keeping my nails healthy. I am quilter so I always have fabric in my hands and the tend to get dry if I'm doing a lot of sewing at one time. I think a trip to the beauty supply store in the next few days will be happening.
Ty...even though i knew this I needed a reminder...its easy to get lazy!!
This was incredibly helpful! Now I know to wait after my hands have been in water. Much love from Finland! xoxo
Thank you! This was very helpful. But I use a crystal nail file. Is that better than the fine grit in the video?
Thank you for the lesson. Please, more lesson videos. Again thank you.
thank you
Thank you so much for this! Also, can I use a glass file on natural nails?
I LOVE you!!!
love it!! what about a glass file? is it like a file with a high number?
Thank you! Great advice! If you get a chance, could you please comment on glass files?
I appreciate your generosity in sharing your thoughts!
Thanks for these tips, most of them i do use but i don't understand really nails are such good tools :-) especially thumbnails... great screwdrivers :-) Oh thats why they break.... oh yea i got it...
I lucky though my nails grow fast...
This was very informative. I am horrible about using cuticle oil, and washing dishes. No wonder my polish chips after like 2 days. Those rings on the pop cans are evil? I’ve broken several nails that way. Oh my and those toilets in the UK look like a nail breaker. Hope you’re doing well, and having a nice weekend.
Lol I wore gloves to wash my hair quite a few times xD especially before weddings when I had long hair and long nails. I didn't want them to break but I wanted my hair to be clean xD
Can’t see anything wrong with that😉
I do it now, too.
Tfs. Ty so much for explaining about the soaking in water bowls. I can't keep count of how many "day spas" insist on having their clients soak their fingers in finger bowls of either soapy water or water with denture tablets. They will do this for nail laquer manis, but not for gel polish manis. I don't like to do it for any mani because of everything that you just mentioned. I was told that, if I want to keep my employment, soaking the fingers in the finger bowl will soften the cuticle and make for a better mani. Ugh. These "day spas" need to watch your video. Lol
--- Hi Natasha! I really love you & your content. You are the best nail channel on CZcams. :)
Thank you darling ♥️
Ah ha!! Thank you sooo much!!
hi, love your channel!do i need to apply a base coat if i have acrylic nails?
Thank you for being so helpful and positive. I been a nail tech for 20+ years, but still love to hear/learn on others techniques. I have worked in both Asian and American full services spas. And I can’t when others nails tech bash on other all Asian nail salon. Yes a lot are unbelievably dirty but most have undated themselves. But anyway. It was just nice to not hear about it in a video for once.
Thank you, I rewatch your videos as I progress in my learning journey. Question. Do you cap the natural nail with soft or hard gel to protect the natural nail edge on the underside? Having issues and don't want to fe-ile my natural nail from the underside. Again, love your channel!
Thankyou far the tipes😊 . and how to grow nile faster 🙂
This was so helpful and very interesting too,but the only problem I have is lifting at nail tip and skin. I use plenty of oil on my nails
Especially at night time. Any ideas xx
EVERYONE NEEDS A GINGER IN THEIR LIFE! ! 😂😂😂😂 couldn't agree more! !
Very informative! Great video! when I do a fresh mani and do my cuticles I apply cuticle oil before I apply polish is that wrong? I still clean the nail of oil. The biggest issue I have is bubbles! I often get little bubbles as my polish coats normals in my top coat but also in base coat and color. I usually rub them out with acetone on my girl never then apply another coat but that doesn’t always work and I have start all over.
Is always such a pleasure to see you
Thanks for the tips. I have a request. I am new to gel polish. Would you do a: prepping for gel polish, applying base, then the color, then top coat. I would love to know that I am doing it all correctly. Thank you
Great tips! Jojoba is a Spanish word. Js are *always* pronounced as Hs in Spanish, and unless there is an accent over another syllable, the next to last syllable is always the accent. Therefore, it's pronounced ho-HO-ba.
Great tutorial Natasha! Thank you ♡♡
Natasha please what is the best way to not damage your nails when using gel polishes.
This has been unbelievably helpful! I do have a couple questions though. I'm dealing with some health issues (Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome) that are causing malabsorbtion, so my nails are suffering horribly😨 They're deeply ridged, brittle, some are thin, I have 'hang nails' on almost all 10 fingers, and if they aren't breaking, they're peeling. As a licensed stylist, I have access to, and use quality products. What can you recommend, if anything, to help? Also, I've had issues with petty much any type of polish peeling off after 5-7 days, regardless of how tedious I prep. Ideas?
Were can I fine a good quality 240 file ?...You have so much class Natasha , and I really truth what you say .
I have found your videos to be very helpful. Thank you! I already have another career, but am really loving doing my own nails right now. So not likely I’ll ever go to school to become a nail tech. Do you have some more tips on how I can keep better at doing my own nails? I’m really interested in hand-painted art, although I’m enjoying nail stamping too. Also, is it possible to recreate certain looks with regular polish that seem to only be available with gel polish? I’m thinking of the look that’s possible with blooming gel, or is there a way to create depth with layers of glitter and flakies like you can do with gel polish. Any insights you can share would be very appreciated. Or maybe you could advise on how to get started doing your own gel nails at home, including decent products available to the public and not just pros. I only want to do that if there is a way to not hurt my nails.
Amazing video
Very helpful... I just subscribe to your channel 👍😀
I just discovered your channel, and I enjoy your content very much 🤩
I wanted to add one item to your list: personally, not only do I cap my nails - when doing the base and the top I always paint the underside of my nails for added protection (after I give them a thorough cleanup).
Maybe I'm wrong, but I feel its protecting my nails much more. Plus, the nail polish lasts even longer than with simple capping.
I have a problem with capping the tip with gel polish. Sometimes the gel polish doesn't stay at the tip and I don't think it's because shrinking since the polishes I use don't do that on a nail plate... And as I prep my nails I file the tips just a bit to get that little ruffness going on. Good video, thanks!😊
I had a hard time with my polish chipping and peeling until I started doing these things. The best part was, I started using Seche Vite base coat. OMG it lasted for over a week. Before that it would last a couple of days.
Thanks Natasha that was really useful advice & as a nail tech & teacher for about 40yrs I always advise my clients on all that you've just said - HOWEVER your explanation was so much clearer & better than any I've ever given, it was not overly intelligent, (lol I'm not getting at you) but some of our clients, including some of our brighter clients, simply don't get what I mean about the importance of the 10 things your mentioned. I'm sorry lovely lady but I'm gonna copy some of your sentences, because surely even the dopiest of folk could understand them. No disrespect meant to any of my ladies or any other's, but your a nail tech & you know how hard it can be sometimes to get through to them. Oh how I wish you'd make dvd's that we could buy to aid in teaching not just clients, but perhaps more importantly when used in a classroom situation. I only do 1on1 as I feel it benefits the student more, so having you, as it were, in my class would be so advantages. Please forgive the length of this message but there are some things one cannot say in two or three lines. More of the same please, because no matter how long one's been doing nail's we can still learn & Natasha at 74 years old & running my own salon & teaching, I still love learning. Xv once again I'm sorry again this is so long.
*Absolutely Amazing Tips Natasha!* "Everyone needs a Ginger in their Life!" I died laughing! You are hysterical!
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
You should put that quote on a shirt & sell merch! It would be perfect & amazing! 👕💅👍❤
I love youu :**
Loved the video as always, where are the best places to buy good quality nail files (for someone on a budget)? Also, I'm not trying to sound cheeky but jojoba is pronounced hohoba :)
Can you use a cristal/ glass nail file instead of a 240 nail file ?
Mica Salter yes but just be careful. It might fray so try one direction with the glass. Depends on the quality like the 240 file
Would a diamond file work
Have not even watched it but I know it will be helpful
Also please do a drag marble video
At my luxury manicure course we did a hand or foot soak before cuticle work, would you say this is ok for feet? Would it be ok for hands if it’s just a minute or two or should it be avoided for hands altogether?
What about using the pool deck as a file?
I've started doing my own nails aft home with a dip acrylic by ASP.
I'm getting lift after a few days. I've prepped my nails and used a dehydrator before starting, but nothing is helping. Any suggestions?
Can I just use pure jojoba oil as cuticle oil? Or should I mix it with vitamin e? ❤️
Yasmin Grasse you can use pure jojoba oil and see amazing results!!! Adding vitamin e may add to the effect but it depends on its ability to soak into the nail, that vitamin e may just aid the cuticle area and dry skin if the molecules are too big to absorb 🙂😘
Great tips! I've had such troubl using my debit card. The one time my husband asks if I can go inise the store to pull money out of an ATM and you kind gotta push the card in and pull it out pretty fast and I could not for the life of me get it out. I asked a lady and she was so nice about it. She giggled and said it happens to her all the time with her nails done haha.... but then I realized after she left that I still needed money and it didn't work because I took too long.. had to call the cashier to swipe it for me i was so embarrassed and grateful even tho they didn't seem to mind at all. Now I never use ATM or use it to pump gas into the car I make my husband swipe it before I do that lol it was so has and my fingers hurt becauae I tried using my knuckles, different angles and nothing works. My nails are too long haha! Also I know this is weird but I live your voice lol it's so calming and nice to listen to.
Hey your so pretty can you do a make up tutorial
That's something to add to my list ♥️
Thx and can you plz sub to me your my favorite CZcams girl ever❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
How do prevent nails from curling down after a few fills
soak in oil insted of water! i always do oil soaks!
Does the cuticle oil not cause the polish to chip? I'm told to dehydrate before applying to avoid chips and lifting. I use it when I have polish on but I didnt realise it was carried up the nail- perhaps what's what's causing my chips. My nails are oily anyway and regular polish chips off even with a dehydrator in less than a day, but I can keep gels on a week!
I was always told a 240 nail file was not enough to properly prep the nail for acrylic or gel application is this not correct? I was always told 180 very very lightly one diwnward direction
I noticed that I am.using the wrong nail file 180 .I do wear gloves when I clean the house and yes the bush button is a pain to flush . I noticed my nails are a bit dehydrated after taking the nail polish off any advice
Can showering or washing hair cause acrylic nails to lift?? Please help?
Speaking of nail files, what about the "glass" nail files? In your expertise, Where do they stand as far as quality use on natrual nails? Still learning here...
Great information thank you Natasha. Just a quick question why do I always get bits of skin at side of nails and of course I pull them what can I do? Please
Nail oil will help with those bits of dry skin. If you do get it though, IMO I would cut it off using those cuticle cutter... things! 😂 I use a bit of nail oil. Let it soak a bit then cut off the dead skin. I never pull at it. Use the cutter. If it doesn’t get it the first time just cut again. Never cut then pull. Ouch!!!
I know it’s so tempting but don’t pull them. Your skin is dry. Cuticle oil will prevent this.
I used to have a very bad problem with this. Now I use oil 5-10 times a day. Reaching for the oil instead of pulling/cutting/biting will keep your fingers pretty.
Also, do not let nail techs cut your cuticles or the side skin. It will also make the skin raggedy.
Sometimes I use a high grit file to smooth out the skin, followed by lots of oil.
Thank you so more ladies shall try a different oil and maybe use it more often goodnight 1:40 in morning here Australia 🇦🇺
Sharyn Sherwood good luck! Oil nail changed my nail life!
Here are photos from June and December: instagram.com/p/BViqcUthOG-/
Can you use hand sanitizer to cleanse the nail plate?
I always have my boyfriend open popcans for me! 😄 but if he's not around, it's the spoon for me.
Excellent tips that every nail lovers should know. 👍🏼 I really like how you described #10: “Nails should be treated as jewels not tools.” ❤️ That’s exactly how I think of my nails. Especially when I paint my nails, it’s like you’re wearing jewelry only in your nails. 💅🏼💎 Awesome video. Thanks. ❤️
Hiya Natasha! I put a thin layer of cuticle oil under my base coat, I don't find it causes any issues 😉
Can I ask where you buy the cuticle oil pens from please. Thank you x
Liseann Prow Amazon. Its fast and usually free 2 day shipping. I find this to be the easiest way unless there is a nail store that's not sally's
Liseann Prow I got mine from eBay, 5-6 in a pack, very cheap.
How long after a shower should you wait to apply cuticle oil? I shower before bed.
Let me add a corollary to #10: get enough sleep! You’ll be less apt to be careless and bang your nail into something if you aren’t sleepy.
I learned this the hard way. :(
My nails looks as if you have been putting them trough a sawingmashine and after that taken a needel and stamped small dots, they do also break on the tips. Why ?
