Yeah! (Sorry for the delay, I had to step back for a little bit) I'm so glad you enjoy them! It is definitely in the plan to do them as the occasions permit. They take a lot of work, and with teaching being as crazy as it is right now, I haven't had too much time to do anything else with the crafting stuff... But I'm always looking for chances to fix inserts....
Just wanted to say that I love your solo variant. Glad you made a video to explain how to play. I used the Supah General red die and that seemed to work well in your format.

For the red dice: Maybe base whether you win or lose on the position of the bot on the fan track? Like, if they are on an odd space you have to have an even number of swords & vice versa? (Evaluate whether or not they move on the fan track (bust) before your run phase to add some "suspense" so that you don't automatically know the outcome of your sword rolls.) I'm going to try it without the red die first once my copy arrives.
I’d love to hear how that all works out! And yeah, I tried a few different ways to keep those red dice in.... but I hated all of them... so I just gave up. 😂
Did you see Mike from the One Stop Co-op Shop did a video based on your Cubitos solo variant? He made some modifications, but credited you with the solo variant. :)
He reached out to me to let me know! I haven't watched dit yet, but I really want to see it and see how he modified things to see if it makes it even better. I'm always looking for any good solo mode!
Thanks for putting this out there. I am 2 and 2 vs. the bot. I won 2 close games. The bot won 1 close game and kicked my butt in 1 game!
You’re welcome! Sounds about like my ratio.... a spectrum of results with me winning about half of the time
Really like this variant! I will try this later today! Question: Did you try to use the red lines for extra dice if you or the bot are behind? Also, after 35 minutes you forget to roll for the bot ;)
So, I intentionally didn’t include the red lines for this variant... specifically because of the nature of the variant. Like, since your dice and the bot dice are linked.... if you were to roll an “extra die” and it didn’t hit, then it goes to the bot... and now they have an extra die. OR, if the bot was getting an extra die, wouldn’t they be using one of your dice? How would you fairly pick the right one for them? It added too many complications... so I ignored it.

I played it and won, but not by much. Thats the way i like a solo game. It has the same tension as a game with friends. + you also think twice about a reroll, because the automa gets the dice you did not roll. Love it. This means i can play this game more often now. Thanks for that!

So I just tried this out. Overall I think this is a good, simple to run solo mode! Thank you for sharing it! I do have some thoughts though.
I like the concept of the bot using your left over dice, but In practice I think it might create a strange dynamic. If I try to push as much as possible, and leave the bot few dice they will usually bust. Which means by the end of the game they will be moving 5-6 spaces a turn. On the other hand if I leave them with enough dice they probably won't bust, because special faces are just one movement they will usually be moving only a few spaces.
It creates a strange situation where you can play a bit defensively to slightly hamper yourself, but greatly hamper the bot. I feel like the bot busting should be better for me, not worse.
I am not quite sure what solution there is for this, or if other people will even be bothered by this, but if I think of something good I'll share it.
Sure! I can totally see what you're saying. For me it has been fun just because the push and pull has worked for me to add tension.... And I can understand the bot-busting comment.... the tricky part is that I wanted the bot to always progress so that it feels like you're always racing against them. Knowing that they'll basically always be moving at least one space kind of ramps up the tension for me...
But I'd love to hear any/all ideas you come up with! It's such a fun game and I love playing it solo (since I don't have many people around to game these days). Happy racing!
Blue busted a lot in this game, but only got one fan from it (fanless busts at around 18:30, 22:30 and 26:15 ) which would have at least increased the number of dice being rolled.
And at just before 35:00, you both skip the bot's turn, and forget to pay the 1 credit to top up the 1 coin you had for your purchase.

All those hand gestures after the 50:30 mark reminded me of Hylics battle animations... man that game was weird @_@

I think I'll be giving this a go when my wife ties of playing the game. You didn't move yourself along the fan track after busting. Did I miss that change to the rules in your solo variant or did you forget?

And let me know how it goes! I’m definitely curious about the experience of other players besides myself. I think it’s a dang hoot... but, that doesn’t mean everyone will. Ya know?
Enjoyed It and It worked really well. I played the setup as per race 5. I included the red dice but didn't use the champion ability. At first I forgot reds didnt apply and bought a llama which got me a red die. But then just ignored it. The bot got off to a flier and I was quite a few behind after 2 or 3 turns - but then my cheeses and dogs kicked in and I got loads of movement and left behind a few light grey dice for the bot to roll. In the end I was a dozen squares ahead. Looking forward to the next one.
You start your game with an extra dark Grey die.. Is this a part of the variant?
I think you might need to discard the red die after its in the active zone.
No. That was a mistake. I think/thought I fixed that….? Only start with 2 dark dice
