    In 1946 33 people died at Burnden Park at an FA cup game against Stoke City due to overcrowding. I think this should be part of tbe clubs history.

    The be honest, Bolton’s main nickname isn’t the Trotters, it’s used in a couple of podcasts but otherwise I’ve never heard any of our fans refer to the team as the trotters - ever. It’s a bit of a weird one!

      We are called the Trotters because at our old ground, Pikes Lane, before Burnden Park, fans and players had to walk through pig farms and pig shit to get to it. Hence the Trotters. Speak to some of our older fans and they will tell you.
