    i'm a Nigerian (Africa) & recently i've been wanting to watch tutorials from other countries so i can learn their own styles and sewing patterns but majority videos never show pattern drafting processes and it's so frustrating bc its like - isn't that the "tutorial"? 😅😅 Like I know how to sew w a machine, i want to see how u came up w the style lol. Anyways all I'm saying is I absolutely love it when tutorials include how to make the patterns so we watching can learn and follow along. I'm going to try this, thank you very much! 😊🤗

    Thank you so much for this tutorial! I've been looking for one that has more draping and this is the only one I found :) btw, I want to ask about adjusting the neckline shown at 7:35, since you attached the strap at the very edge earlier, what happens to it if the neckline is adjusted?

    • @thatsemma-fashion
      @thatsemma-fashion  Před rokem +1

      Because my straps are at least one meter long, when adjusting the width of the neckline, the reduction on both sides is usually within 5 cm and this length will not affect the straps in any way.
      However, when doing this step, you need to make sure the straps are snug against the inside edge, otherwise, they may not be in the correct position when you turn the dress to the front.
      I also recommend that you do this step with all the pleats secured with hand stitches to reduce the chances of mistakes. good luck ❤

    • @thatsemma-fashion
      @thatsemma-fashion  Před rokem +1

      Or you can decide the length of the neckline first and sew the sides together, cut off the excess fabric, then rip the seam at both front corners, insert the shoulder straps, and sew them back together. You can choose any method you like, as long as the result is the same.

      I assume you're looking for a pencil skirt shape, here's what I would suggest:
      when drawing the pattern, Instead of flaring out from the hip, draw a straight line down from this point to the hemline. then smooth out the side.
      To make sure you can move around comfortably while wearing the dress, I would recommend adding a slit on the side or CB. This will give you more freedom of movement.

    • @thatsemma-fashion
      @thatsemma-fashion  Před rokem +1

      It depends on how wide your zipper is. My invisible zipper is about 1cm( 0,4in) wide, which is the same as my seam allowance(1cm), so I put it right on the edge of the fabric.
      You will need to adjust the position depending on your seam allowance and the zipper. for example. if you have 1in seam allowance and 0,4in wide invisible zipper, then you need to move 0,6in inward from the edge. always make sure the zipper+empty space=seam allowance

    • @thatsemma-fashion

      2. don't trim the edge curve on the back (2:35), keep it straight.

    • @thatsemma-fashion
      @thatsemma-fashion  Před rokem

      You can take an a4 paper and lay it flat on the table, consider it as the skirt that has not yet installed the zipper.
      Then you tape another smaller piece of paper (which is the facings) along the top edge of this paper.
      and then stick the two longer sides of a4 paper together and it becomes a cylinder, which is the skirt with the zipper installed, as you can see, the head can go inside without any problem.
      Of course, the top edge of the skirt is not completely flat, it has some curves (which I call the sides), but it is still overall the top edge, and the opening for the head is not blocked.

    • @thatsemma-fashion
      @thatsemma-fashion  Před rokem

      the facings are only used for hemming the top edges, it works the same as the rolled hem, just because it's more suitable for curved edges, and also creates a more professional look
