    Your tutorial is so refreshing! You've made it simple, and I love that you're talking in metric measurements! I can't wait to try this... I want to make a muslin slip (pettycoat) to wear under sheer summer dresses...

    Wonderful! Using this as a ref for how to teach my friend for sure!
    I will say, at the bottom hem, I find it much easier to just do an edge stitch haha, and if I have the chance to, I'm going to serge the inner seams :] (not everyone has a server, it is not necessary for sure!)

    • @ashtag9854
      @ashtag9854 Před 2 lety +2

      Hope this makes sense: for the back straps, Turn the interfacing on the front of the dress to the wrong side of the fabric to expose the straps and iron .then ,With right side of the fabric of back panel of dress facing up pin the ends of straps that are attached to the front of dress with front of the dress having the wrong side of fabric facing up. So right side of fabric of the dress facing together. Try on to see if it fits right. then pin back inter facing to the back panel of the dress on top of the straps and sewing top of interfacing and straps to the back of the dress . Flip back interfacing to wrong side of fabric to expose the straps and press.

    I noticed you have triangular gussets on your dress- did I miss a step? Or was that a modification you made to your own dress?

    • @OwlipopDIY
      @OwlipopDIY  Před rokem +3

      Hi, that’s correct. I made it too tight at first and had to adjust. The measurements I give at the beginning of the video are the final ones, so the correct ones. You should not have a triangle there, I ran out of fabric to make one from scratch.

    I’m very late to this video but I would love to try to make this!! I’m stuck on where to go after taking my measurements, though. How should I make the pattern if my bust and hip measurements are exactly/almost exactly the same?? If anyone has an answer please let me know!

    • @skullcrusher223
      @skullcrusher223 Před 2 lety

      My bust and hip are only a few centimeters apart and honestly this pattern didn’t work out too well for my body shape 😢 there’s way too much space in my waist and it just hangs on me like a sheet… I’m gonna take it in at the waist but yeah, doesn’t work out as well as hers

    Can this dress be made using a satin material? My sister is wanting a slip dress made out of her fiancé’s late mother’s wedding dress (a lot of pressure!) for her to wear as a reception dress. And I really want to get it right.
