The fact that a 30 second cutscene from a game almost a decade old is better than one full season of the most expensive show ever made is abysmally disgusting.

When a lore butchery video game based on the whole 'cool and edgy' power fantasy thing....still manages to depict SOMETHING better than a giant lore butchery but worse and dumber most expensive fanfic tv show! Well...then you know someone f.....d up! :):):).
But seriously...jokes aside, there are SOME elements in the cutscene that I like (right till that moment when all lore and sense goes to s...t with the 'take him to Mordor'), among them the presentation of Sauron/Annatar storyline (even though the games devs also didn't have proper licensing rights to other texts The UT or Silm) showing him being 'lord of gifts' using flattery and fake benevolence and outward friendliness with a sinister goal in mind (though the scene with him side evil eying, giving that evil foreboding, while the Celebrimbor works on the rings according to instructions might seem like cliche it was effective visually :)) and I also like the moment when the One Ring is forged in cutscene....because it well...shows that:
"For in the day that Sauron first put on the One, Celebrimbor, maker of the Three, was aware of him, and from afar he heard him speak these words, and so his evil purposes were revealed."
This is basically THAT scene, Celebrimbor is just casually at work in his forge and then wham he senses, sees/hears things from afar while we don't hear the famous words inscribed on the Ring, (which falls under the things wiht weird changes, hell Sauron would have made the inscription himself he would never allow anyone else to handle his ring!) this indeed is that moment of the 'telepathic' connection farsight moment of sensing. The visual design is also nice (though what the narrative of the game did is another matter), Celebrimbor, elf-lord of Eregion! In my opinion the game should have used Eregion location in some capacity!
And a decade...yeah the first game came out in..2014...so soon it will be :). The cutscene definitely also gets somewhat better with movie music here :) heheh.

Only a genuine special, wheelchair bound person could ever actually think that rings of power is "better" than anything from the tolkien world, including the worse parts of it, like the last hobbit movie, or, the old lotr cartoon movie. All of this, is better than the rings of power. All of it. Hell, even the new Gollum game, which is total ASS, is better than the rings of power. By a large amount. Let that sink in. The gollum game, which is arguably one of the worst games of the last 5 years, let alone in the middle earth games universe, and is very easily the worst game that's been made with lotr content, is by MILES better than the rings of power. By absolute miles. There are levels to this. And at the very very very bottom, lies the rings of power. You have to travel an insurmountable distance to even begin getting close to the next worst piece of media in this franchise.
THAT'S how bad ROP is. That's how poorly its regarded. That's how offensive it is.

What they are is extremely high quality and beautifully executed power fantasys set in what most would consider an alternate universe in middle earth terms, of sorts. Which is absolutely fine. Not every single thing in a franchise needs to be lore friendly and strict about it. In fact, things would get extremely fucking boring extremely quick if that's how things were done constantly. A true fan can put aside the established lore, and enjoy the less narrative driven entries in a franchise, if they're done well. Which, by golly, the mordor games truely are.
But seriously. Taking lore accuracy when discussing shadow of games is missing the point entirely. There are a fair few times when these games very liberally give a wide berth to the established lore, and for good reason, and to great effect. These games would NOT have the freedom to be as awesome as they are if they were tied down heavily to lore "rules". Then fuckin GOD that they aren't.
Honestly, it's like if star wars: the force unleashed had to strictly follow the lore 😅😅 can you even imagine how different those games would be if they were lore friendly? One guy, bringing star destroyers down with the force? Nah, but "he can lift rocks and push people a couple feet !! Cool, right? Right guys? That's the power fantasy you guys were looking for, right? You wanted to play as an extremely over powered sith, right? You wanted to unleash the force, as it were, right? Well, we gotta stay within the rules here obviously guys, we can't have this dude pulling star destroyers down from space single handedly while also dealing with multiple tie fighters, 😅 yknow? We gotta respect what the universe looks like up to now, so that it all fits together real nice. But hey! We can definitely let you get some force push going on!! For sure! And who knows, maybe you'll even see some of the lighter in weight objects being thrown at enemies, too! Wouldn't that be cool! Now this, is force unleashing!"
So, yeah. Lore can die in a corner as far as I'm concerned when it comes to certain video game entries.
HOWEVER. That show, rings of power, has a fucking responsibility to get it right. Tv shows, movies, that shit NEEDS to be right. Narrative driven content, MUST follow the lore. So i totally agree with you. That show is ass, and is an insult to Tolkien and his fans. Not only is the lore completely disrespected and ignored, but it's also the single most woke piece of shit I've ever had the displeasure of witnessing. And that's saying something in a world like the one we are living in today. A world in which she-hulk show exists.

raphel archdale I do like this story line. very well done cinematic too. but, in Tolkien's writings, he was killed by Sauran after being tortured for the whereabouts of the rings he had hidden, then killed with arrows and hung and carried as a banner when Sauran attacked the elves.
It was his own hammer, made of mithril, wich is one of the strongest materials in middle-earth

The way the universe in Middle Earth works is similar to Catholicism, where a common theme in his works is that no matter how bad and hopeless things get, there's a plan and good will triumph. The philosophical messages are Catholic, such as the elevation of the little guys (Hobbits being able to carry the ring), power corrupting (The shire being pretty much the only place that hasn't destroyed itself at one point through pride, greed, or envy like all the other great kingdoms), and choosing the right path despite it being harder (going forward with the ring instead of hiding it in Rivendell, Frodo leaving the fellowship so he doesn't put them in danger despite being safer with them, etc)
The way the universe looks and feels, like who a lot of the characters are based on, etc, comes from a lot of Scandinavian and German mythology. Operas from Wagner inspired him a lot.

Sauron is master of the ring so it doesn't effect him. In the book there is a character called Tom Bombadil who wears the ring without dissapearing, because he is master of himself.

He made the 3 Elven Rings, yes, but he did this WITHOUT Sauron because he didn't trust them, it were other Elven smiths who actually made those rings. Also, even under torture, he never once revealed where the 3 were hidden, only where the lesser rings were. He sure as shit wouldn't have made the One Ring, or the fucking Nazgûl (which also make no sense, by the way). @@UnholyWrath3277 Of all the things to complain about, CGI is pretty low on my list. It's looked really great other than maybe the vision of Numenor's downfall which was a little rough. I'd say that since the Tolkien estate is assisting with the narrative in the same way that GRRM helped with GoT, this is doing about as much justice to the universe as possible. My main complaint is the cheesy dialog and in a few cases, very bad acting.

The Shadow games play a little fast and loose with the lore but it does flesh out Celebrimbor's and Annatar's (Sauron) collaboration and struggle

You know it actually kinda bothers me that there isn't a Ring of Earth because Air, Water, and Fire occupies three out of the four basic elements, so you would kinda expect there's a ring for Earth as well.
@@laisensei6984 The three Elven rings weren't representative of the elements they were named after, but for the Eldar rulers that existed at the time, Galadriel and Gil-Galad and one other whose name I've forgotten since last I read the lore of the Second Age.
Since the battle of Mount Doom between Sauron and his forces and the Last Alliance of Men and Elves, two of the Three Rings have changed hands. Galadriel continued to wield Nenya, the Ring of Adamant, while Gandalf was given the Ring of Fire Varya, and the last of the Three was given to Cirdan the Shipwright as his charge and responsibility.

A lot could've changed had anyone interfered to save Celebrimbor or at least his family, someone who's lost so much would either wish death or worse, become deranged and blinded by a lust for power that he hopes would make him feel better.
Talion too didn't deserve what happened to him and I find it frustrating that even the New Ring wasn't enough to vanquish Sauron, all those years spent fighting only for Celebrimbor to repeat his mistake and Talion falls instead of becoming the Nazghul who stands for the people.
Sauron is one overpowered devil because knowing your enemy's weakness is only the first step towards victory, it takes more than that, Talion deserved a better fate.

God after playing Shadow of War I was so hyped to see Celebrimbor. I was immediately disappointed to see he was just some tool for everyone to use. He wasn't even hard to manipulate. Just "hey have you considered this?" and then boom rings of power. I felt very let down

I damn well agree man. Celebrimbor in Shadow of War/Mordor is the most badass character in Lotr. He is such an interesting and unique charcter. He is probably the most masculine elf while keeping their pretty features. His voice is so badass, and he just feels like a warrior smith. I was so hyped for Celebrimbor in the show because I thought he would be a point of connection between everyone. Like the dwarves would be constantly visiting him, the elves would be there of course, and the men of Numenor would be seeking the skill of the greatest elven smith. I thought Celebrimbor's home would be like Kings landing in game of thrones. The hot pot of all characters where plans come to head and action is ever present. Instead Celebrimbor is just in the background waiting for the point where he can make rings.

Damn, i remember when in the games Talion finds out that the ghost is Celebrimbor, hes like wow, you are a fucking legend man, you are the great smith of the second age, and Celebribor says says, "yes, i wrote the history of the middle earth, i forged the rings of power" so cool, and it sounds such like a important character that you dont waste if you make a second age show, but they dont give a F about these legendary characters and the tolkien lore, didn't they?
i love the scene where he killed his C’s wife and daughter, and with that theme song? perfect. it just brings the closer look to sauron that he wasnt just a ruler who sent his servants to do his dirty work. His cruelty is portrayed percectly by the scene esp combined with the song.

They also made him a complete badass which is always awesome. I mean the man literally got captured and forced to make the ring of power. Instead he cheated the devil, dominated an army to rival Sauron's and fought his way up to and bested the dark lord before Sauron pulled an Isildur and got the ring back. Plus he looked and sounded like a badass warrior smith elf

This was a really dark and sad story.
Reeeeeee, freaking Amazon everytime I see their version of this character i cringe , he was such an accomplish and important figure in the lore . when they get to the part where they fight , Sauron will look like a wimp beating up an elderly *help i felled down and can't get up energy* man . Compared that to all the thinking it went for the elven king of the hobbit movies from how he should freaking move to his attire . Not to mention that Galadriel's daughter goes to merry Elrond
wowzers...really awesome story! But a big thank you to all the avid readers of the book who cleared up some of the errors! My brother read me this story and the Hobbit when I was like EIGHT so I don't remember all the details. I worship the movies tho. Its a difficult series to read now that I'm older with less time :(

Deception was his greatest asset not the ring.When the numenoreans were at their peak, even sauron with the one ring was brought to kneel. His power was humbled. Then he had to rely on deception once again because the ring couldn't help him.
Now you've heard that LOTR is getting a series on amazon,and its about the second age when the last alliance of men and elves happened and Sauron lost his ring(i just read about that)

@@nathanhursey6779 well I don't know what you are talking about but if you have read the silmarillion then you must have known that Sauron was actually a maia and could shape shift very easily which means that he could take any fair form just like he had taken to deceive celebrimbor and Ar-pharazon. Similarly Melkor,his master,was the most powerful valar and before his pre-morgoth phase, was considered to be one of the most beautiful among them.....valars and maiars were basically godly beings with ethereal beauty... All this things are described by Tolkien himself in the books... So i don't really understand, how am I tainting anything?
And yes this game is not entirely based on Tolkien's world..it is not canon.

Look again, it is not a sword, it is an elaborate hammer for forging the rings. Sting was made by the Elves.

Tanner McGuire Continuity error there, Sting, Glamdring and Orcrist the Goblin Cleaver are all Gondolin blades from the First Age, before the great sea Belegaer drank Beleriand in the War of Wrath. So unless Celebrimbor lived in the time of Fingolfin and Makalaurë he most certainly did not forge those blades.
he had to have been born in the fist age, he is the son Curufin who died before the War of Wrath.
Celembrimbor was born before Beren the one handed so he is VERY old at this point born some time in the middle of the fist age. So it is possible that he made Sting, but it should have been made in the first age.
interestingly He is the son of Curufin who tried to kill Luthian but instead hit Beren with an Arrow.

MR.Chickennuget 360, Celebrimbor did not try to kill Luthian. That was Curufin's brother Celegorm. Though depending on which account you are referring to, it could have been Curufin who tried to shoot Luthien because I believe there is a discrepancy between the Lay of Luthien and the published Silmarillion. But otherwise you are correct.

Why the show replaced Annatar with "Halbrand" is beyond me. I liked Halbrand, don't get me wrong, but this adaptation fits Sauron better.

"The Hobbit" - movies were way worser than the LOTR-Trilogy, that's for sure but one detail I used to love about the second movie is that in the scene in which we first get to see Dol Guldur in the movie the ring-verse can be heard in the Off a small and subtle detail that foreshadows who the Necromancer really is
please please expand Celebrimbor Amazon. I daresay he is the heart of the Second Age. His forging of the Rings of Power save the One is a catalyst of the next Ages. It be cool if we see a flashback of him with the Feanorians.
