alot of people say this is the greatest beat of all time... i cant argue
+Pope Platinum its one of the greatest. How can you front on premo, rza, pete rock, buckwild, j dilla & various other dope producers?
+T-800/1000 Model not fronting on anyone.. if someone put a gun to your head and say you have to pick one beat as the greatest.. a lot of people would say shook ones part 2
Pope Platinum Don't know about that. I sure wouldn't.
+Pope Platinum leaf dog beats! high focus records! UK hip hop
You sir, are a Hip Hop afficionado!
Maaaaannnn... I watched your videos 10 years ago, and I didn't know shit about shit back then! All this was brand new information to me at the time. 10 years later and I could wax poetically about Mobb Deep and the classic shit they dropped, Hell on Earth being my favorite album of there's. Also been doing my own music and DJing, bought a lot of vinyl, absorbed so much history and it pretty much started with your channel.
This is one of my 5 favourite hip-hop beats ever, absolute genius.
havoc is a fucking wunderkind
Tí mó tàihòu shū. I agree.
8:40 literally blew my mind !
Literally?!
when he remade the beat i jumped off the chair
cylon boy for TROY I went crazy lmaoo
yo I lost my shit to man ...this shit is nuts son
I remember reading in Scratch Magazine (RIP) that Havoc was originally gonna throw this beat away. Can you believe that??!!
the sample off kitty with the bent frame sounds so raw and so awesome
please do survival of the fittest that sample is ridiculous hard
Unfortunately, no one knows the sample in that song
+Seth Meris sample is Skylark by the berry hills trio other than that mobb deep produced just about everything in there
Wow. Where can I find that song? I can't seem to find it online. Would really love to hear the original sample
K Crossover Wow. Where can I find that song? I can't seem to find it online. Would really love to hear the original sample
go to whosampled.com in the search bar type survival of the fittest and you should be able to hear it from there
2:28 Ahh the days of buying blank tapes and just waiting patiently for them to play your favorite song on the radio so you could hit record!
i never knew that the sample was piano, i thought it was like an sitar or some asian instrument lol. nice job man very entertaining
Havoc > Dr. DRE
I'm with you on that. hav has put in work
Nick Dunn you sir have no idea wtf dr dre has done to make beats so iff you think this guy is better than dre than your dumb as shit I admit it this guy is good but not even close to dr dre good
Scrappy Man3 stfu u probably don't know shit about hip hop
Scrappy Man3 English please? Or can you not speak it you illegal immigrant.
Scrappy Man3 All the same you all go round cleaning peoples homes and also getting into countries illegally.
rip prodigy 😕
kaosbboi R.I.P. Mobb Deep

"I got you stuck off the realness. We be the imfamous, you heard of us..."
"Dirty Feet" by Daly Wilson Big Band, "Jessica" by Herbie Hancock, "Kitty With The Bent Frame" by Quincy Jones, and "Thackeray Meets Faculty" by Ron Grainer.
+Dario Argento Dirty Feet is one of my favorite breaks. Nice reverb on them already.
I know you don’t really post anything anymore and hopefully you see this but I’d love to see the Arsenio Hall beat deconstructed
It was made by Pete Rock and samples Bob James “Nautilus” and I believe the same beat was used by Jeru the Damajas song “My Mind Spray”.
Like I said hopefully you see this cause I think it’s a pretty cool beat tbh and your the man to do it!
wow, this gives me the upmost respect for Mobb Deep
Havoc used a second drum loop as well. You first hear it for a moment at the tail end of "...hundred dollar billas", goes away, and then kicks back in about 4 measures before the "Jessica" sample.
Yep
Lol the sample was from Quincy Jones from a jazz album.... Wow and y'all believe him lol
@@sscummings yeah. I re-did it myself and its missing. the sounds cleaner here. legendary remake tho!
nas memory lane
my favourite beat so calming yet powerful in the sense that it portrays a feeling of nostalgia
10:11 reminded me of one love
So true! Just put in the xylophone or whatever and it's done. Probably not a coincidence though since they were both songs out of 90s queens where the producers probably all learnt from eachother
Watched this video a few years ago when I got into producing, glad I found it again.
Also hav didnt use a synth, samplers dont have stock sounds, atleast back then, the bass notes are filtered parts of that same dirty feet song
Havoc is a genius for this one. I can definitely relate to the hunger and passion he had when he made this beat.
You don't actually need to loop the siren - there was a soundtrack LP where the sound just kind of plays out, and you can hear some other effects start to come in near the end of it on "Shook Ones Part II".
Fantastic video, first time I've seen your stuff, I will look forward to watching the rest of your uploads.
my dad put me on this stuff, i'm 15 and I can admit that todays hip hop music is not good from how back then was , that's what i always learned.
Cameron Gill TRUE
Listen to "To Pimp A Butterfly" by "Kendrick Lamar" or "508-507-2209", by "Joyner Lucas". I'd specifically recommend listening to "Keep it 100" and "I'm Sorry" from the Joyner project, and stop perpetuating this garbage sentiment that "Modern Hip-Hop suxx durrrr, I'm really close-minded" really stop that. music of all generations has bad music. I mean go listen to Rapping Duke I assure you he is not good the same story goes for David Banner. both rappers from your "golden era" who are complete trash. the fact is not every modern rapper is a mumbler. especially not since that's no longer the most popular genre of rap. it's all about the Conscious Rap and the Jazz Rap.
and while we're at it, lets stop pretending that the only good rap nowadays is conscious rap, and stop parroting "real music" as solely kendrick and joyner
@@sebcubille no one is parroting that. I think the Migos have some good songs as well.
what you probably consider "todays hiphop music" is honestly just rap music and not hiphop
Judging from the comments, there's more than a couple dj's irked by this guy. I'm grateful to this guy though i hope he achieves what he wants
this is something for u all to remember..we all cut samples different.when these samples are cut different it has a different feel....all beats are made in a moment..this will never match havoc's moment....plus software .hav made it on hardware.no matter what it will have a different fell with the original equipment.
this is sooo fucking amazing man
I am legit mind blown, I love this channel
You did a nice job there, i've been wondering for years how Havoc managed to make this beat. The thing that I admire the most in this song is the inspiration of Havoc to make this beat. I mean you knew how the song should sound like, Havoc had to make it without no example. But anyway thanks for the information and the remake!
Most of it was just playing with the high & low-pass filters for the sample. I believe I played with the low-pass filters on the drums. I'll see about posting a video response if I still have the footage I recorded when I was tweaking the sound (I usually edit that stuff out since it's a little tedious to watch).
mob deep "outta control" ft 50cent is amazing such a balanced beat it feels euphoric and melancholy
This track still makes me wanna go out and break a few laws lol
Damn bro, u hit every note to the tee!! Classic...Good job
You know you're a producer when you're annoyed with him not notching out the resonant frequency in the siren sample haha. But a great video. The tune's great in its simplicity.
blackholecat I think there would probably be more obvious clues that you're a producer
Dope. I'm surprised you don't use the Blocks feature in Reason. Made for Boom Bap and 90s music and Hip Hop in general
working on it right now ;)
"times is rough & tough, like leather"
i heard havoc fixed his car several times ... WITH HIS SAMPLING KEYBOARD
Great remaking ,Reason is my favorite daw 💪
Man how did I not find this channel earlier? I don't use software but these vids are really helpful and informative.
I like your vids.I hope you cover Dead Presidents by Jay-Z and Nas is Like by Nas those are 2 other hip hop classics
Amazing! thanks for devoting the time to actually educate. will be watching the rest of your vids
Im in love with this beat
KDHX st.louis was my underground station growing up. lot's of antenna rigging so I could hear the hip hop show on Friday night back in the early 90s!
This is dope. Great job here! You should add the 808's that hit on each snare. They really add to the feel of the bass line. Makes it sound like there are more bass notes in the song than what's really there. Also "swinging" the piano sample will put the second half of it "more on-beat." This is dope nerd ish, for sure!
sorry bro im gonna have to sample the drums in the intro in your video
Listen to "Gladys Knight - Who Is She (And What Is She To You)"
was sampled by premo in next level nyte time mix
Pm Dawn. Set adrift a memory!
my favourite beat that came out in 1994 is this is for my homiez ill al scratch, also where my homiez
Nice feature, but I don't get the term Geek meets ghetto. There are lot of geeks and nerds in the hood. BTW RZA calls himself a geek and a nerd. I am a self proclaimed nerd as well.
Good job on 1 of the many classics from the 90's.
I GOT ONE FOR YOU: Notorious B.I.G.- Unbelievable/Patrice Rushen- Remind me. In 20 years, I've never heard a satisfactory explanation of how Primo chopped up that keyboard. Love your vids, keep it up.
Part II came out in 1995 , Part I came out in 94
Sensational! Havoc is a pure genius
Amazing stuff - he really captured the original, and he started from scratch.
Awesome video, that beat gives me chills every time I hear it. Subscribed!
Great job. I wanted to know the answer to how Havoc created this track and you delivered.
this is spot on, but i think the siren sample is just looped forward then inverted to get that effect. i could be wrong but i'm pretty sure thats how it is. love all your stuff man.
this vid needs more views goddamit, keep your work up bro, those who know aprecciate it.
11:30 this loop broo
just became the 7k sub, do another Mobb Deep! RIP Prodigy
Thanks for posting these videos dawg
Dope video...never would have guessed that was a siren...good ears my man!
Havoc used EPS-16+ for this beat. peace!
I guessed the ASR-10 but you could be right... where did you hear he used the EPS & MPC?
HAVOC is a genius! Good job reconstructing bro
One of the hottest tracks in hip hop ever. Thanks for breaking it down. Great job!!
I was waiting for you to take a bong rip to sample the persistent bubbling sound in the background of the original track. Although now that I know Havoc got the piano sample from what was probably a worn out record, it's probably just noise from the vinyl being worn.
I subbed off rip, i can't believe this guy doesn't have 6k subscribers
Sick channel dude! Love it.
I just figured out something that's kinda weird I don't know if it's a glitch or anything. But if you go on itunes and search shook ones pt 2 and go to the album that the song was on (it has 16 songs) it says it was relased december 17 1992. Just noticed it.
Holy shit..... speechless.
Havoc is the GOAT!!!! The ear on that guy!!! WOW!!! MOBB 4 LYFE!!!
The pitch changing setting probably changes both at a time, to prevent the sample from sounding muddled.
This is dope man. Keep at it.
Close, but the 'doom doom doom doom doom' drum bass on the track is missing.
Havoc is insane, greatest beat of all time
Bring ya ass back! We need realness .When content creators did for the love !
This track was featured in Grand Theft Auto liberty city stories.. Also, they used this track in the movie 8 miles. Great movie by the way.
Great video, I hope i'm not being offensive, but can I ask if I can buy a copy of that bass sample in a one-shot wav. form respectfully
Your a Genius and Havoc is a Legend!
Brilliant. I'm hooked
You arent getting it quite right because hav down pitched it, twice at 2 different notes.
Bam!
"geek meets ghetto" yea next video
could you subtitle the videos for portuguese? I'm a super fan of your channel , from Brazil 🇧🇷 thanks !!
You are spot on my man 🔥🔥🔥
@Ronald Dorsey : Mobb Deep ! :D
This is pure genius!
I think I pretty much just set Subtractor to put out a straight sine wave. I believe I just used whatever drums were in my library (most of which I sampled years ago and I don't recall where I got them).
THANK U FOR TOUR TIME BRO..
it's good to learn a lot from this
i love the tutorials bro but can u show the people the effects u used on the kick snare , and samples and how to home master the track please and peace
amazing thanks for making this
What’s the drum loop at the beginning
Those drums sound like the beginning of Nas one love.
shit is hotttttttttt...miss the 90s
You remind me a lot of the needle drop guy.
Me too.
anthony fagtano
Ever Heard Group Home-Suspended In Time Prod. By DJ Premier? You should try that one. Classic Boom Bap
Havoc is a genius.
(Don’t give credit to me, because I didn’t comment this first)
HAV WAS LIKE 18 WHEN HE DID THE INFAMOUS ALBUM VERY TALENTED
EPS-16+ precursor to ASR-10
