I purchased 3 cigars once and put them in a cabinet in our kitchen. They were in cellophane and in the bag from the cigar shop. I forgot about them. Smoked them about 6 months later and they were, amazingly, still good!
I just found 3 boxes of cohibas my dad brought from cuba in 2002. They were stored in their boxes, not in a humidor, but they are still somehow in near perfect condition! I smoked one of them and it was fantastic.
Tuperware or Glad containers will work better for just a couple bucks. Less permeable and will protect them from getting crushed. Just use brand new ones, not the spaghetti stained ones from the cupboard.
Thanks for tips. I didn't think i needed one until recently shop guy told me i have to keep them in there even if im smoking them right away (which sometimes doesn't happen because i end up buying extra to try) ....also if any one else is reading this, was also told get small humidifier battery one (humidity stats) to keep taps on %humidity and such. Happy smoking
While youre waiting for the humidor to ship, a gallon ziploc and a couple of those humidity packets do the trick. Or tupperware and humidity control packet.
I’m in the bag storage department right now. I’m looking to build a humidor from a cedar tree that has been down on my land for years. I haven’t found a video where someone is building a humidor.
Nick, I was a cigar enthusiast prior to getting into the industry. I just educated myself as much as possible then jumped in. The success part is a continued work in progress. 😉
I recently purchased some lovely Cuban cigars in Verona, Italy. I bought a box of 25 Le Hoyo de Rio Seco Cigars and a box of 25 Partagas short cigars. Both boxes were already opened but had been kept in a humidor in the store. They were the last boxes left. I purchased these boxes on the day I arrived and by the time I get them home and into my humidor they will have been without a humidor for four days. I am in Verona where the current average humidity is 69% and the temperature 68 Fahrenheit (20 degrees Celsius). Will my cigars hold up for the four days out of a humidor but in their opened boxes?
Yes, but it likely won't taste exactly as it should. Put it in a humidor and leave it alone for a few months and feel it by touch if it has enough humidity.
How long you should humidify newly bought cigars before smoking? I'm still a noob to the cigar world. Smoked my first cigar right out the box and it was dry and an unpleasant experience
Depends every cigar is different. Anything past 70% you’re going to get mold and they’re going to be to wet to smoke. 62% is where you want it I have found. Not to dry but not to wet. When you first put your Cigars in a humidor the cigars are going to absorb the cedar so they will change flavor over time but it depends cause like I said every cigar is different.
My step father in law (massive dork) tried to tell me Cohibas are banana leaf wrapped and then started thumbing through the 5 I brought with me grabs my Flaquitas last call probably still hasn’t smoked it gave me 4 dried out Cohibas that were trash dried out kept in a humidor with no humidity added for 5 years
Some brands ship cigars with humidification packs in the box, so those will last longer, but the issue with storing cigars in a cigar box is that the cigar box won’t maintain humidity like a sealed humidor. It’s not worth risking good cigars with improper storage.
If you are going to just keep them in a cigar box, make sure you put that box in a sealed bag with a humidification pack in it. You’ll get much more time out of them than just leaving the box out, even if it’s closed.
Do you recommend removing the cigars from the wrapper and placing them in a humidor?
Should you leave cigars in their cellophane?

@@holtscigarsthank you so much for your response and assistance. 🥃
My cigars last about an hour to an hour and a half after it leaves the humidor. They get smoked.
Love this channel!
😂😂😂😂
All I'm saying is you don't have that problem with crack, something to think about 🤔
😂
Classic 🤣😂
I tend to notice that dead bodies last longer than cigars, would highly recommend taking up murder.

It’s possible your house was within the proper RH% range for storing cigars
@@Twatwafflez420 I have no clue! Hell, that was before I started smoking regularly, I would pick up a few to smoke every now and then.

@@dankoverloadtv1409 wow! Those are probably worth $$$. Cohiba guys have deep pockets
Algorithm pushing me towards smoking cigars and I'm not against it.

Great video!!
Just put a Boveda pack inside the Ziploc bag and you're good.

When I go on the road, I just put a Boveda in my cigar box and they stay fresh for a good week, just got to keep the box out of the weather.

I am new to cigars, I bought cigars with a humidor, is it ok to leave them in a ziploc bag while my humidor is being set up?
For temporary storage that should be fine for a few days
That's why you need to buy a stack of boveda packs, boveda solves 99% of my problems related to cigar smoking
Can I ask, how did you get into the cigar industry and how were you so successful?
Nick, I was a cigar enthusiast prior to getting into the industry. I just educated myself as much as possible then jumped in. The success part is a continued work in progress. 😉
Ziploc bag w bóveda pack?
Cheap teir "humidor" solves it. Bovida bag + bovida packet will keep your sticks healthy for a long time.
You should probably buy the humidor with 10 cigars at first or something.

Cigars are sensitive, but they're not that sensitive. You should be fine 👍
Can you rehydrate/rehumidify a dry cigar?
Yes, but it likely won't taste exactly as it should. Put it in a humidor and leave it alone for a few months and feel it by touch if it has enough humidity.

How many suits do you have
Are cigar shops pretty much a big humidor? Just wondering how it all works
It depends on the shop. Some ,like ours, are a walk-in humidor, while others may use cabinets humidors to keep their cigars in.
If the country has a high humidity in climate? Do i still need a humidor box/cabinet?
Yes, outdoor humidity fluctuates and changes. A humidor keeps the levels consistent which helps your cigars smoke better
My step father in law (massive dork) tried to tell me Cohibas are banana leaf wrapped and then started thumbing through the 5 I brought with me grabs my Flaquitas last call probably still hasn’t smoked it gave me 4 dried out Cohibas that were trash dried out kept in a humidor with no humidity added for 5 years
Any particular humidor you recommend for newbies?
Check out the following video:

How about a herf?
What if you live in the caribbean, where humidity is always high?
Humidity outside will always fluctuate and be different every day. What's best for cigars is consistency.
@@holtscigars thanks
What if they come wrapped in a box? Like they don’t touch air at all

If they dry out, and that is about all that causes them to be bad. Can you just leave it in a humidor for a really long time and bring them "back"?
The short answer is yes, but they may not taste the same as they once did because the oils in the tobacco may get lost.
In the crisper maybe?
That's a common misconception with storing cigars. Refrigerators/crispers pull humidity out of cigars and will dry them out.
How long does a box of cigars last with cellophane on outside the humidor?
From my experience 2-3 days then they get dry. Depends some Nicaraguans can last up to a week really depends on the Cigar
Tupperdor
Otherwise buy one and smoke it then get another
