I'm not a smoker, never been, but for some weird reason, i enjoy watching this clip and listening to this gentleman explain things.
glad to have you here either way 😂 thanks for watching
now you can start
Same!
As an ex weed smoker I can relate to all this.
I’m looking forward to embarking on my cigar journey. Thanks
I too miss the ritual of rolling one up or loading a bowl. That’s why I’m getting into cigars, though I don’t like inhaled tobacco’s.
yeah the lighting part was really nothing new even tho im a cigar beginner
I'm a seasoned smoker, so most of this doesn't apply to me, but so glad to see some beginner education out there. Starting off right will help you to get the most of the cigar experience. This is all great advice and tips to help you avoid common mistakes and gain that experience early. One thing to add...DON'T sniff cigars in the store!
Don’t drop them on the ground in the humidor
Don't rip ass in the humador RANDY !!!
David, why not sniff them in the store?
@@darajohnson9443 Like most, I like the smell of a fresh cigar, however it won't give you any insight to the flavor profile of the blend, it just smells like tobacco. Most shops frown on this because it's a hygienic concern, and is a common rookie mistake.
@@darajohnson9443😅😅😅😅😅
You are definitely the Cigar General. Twenty-one puff salute!
🫡
@@VesperRoyale it's also for all the cigar generals who came before
@@VesperRoyale it's CZcams, brother, you're doing too much.
@VesperRoyale Then why’d you come here?
Twenty-one puff salute was great!
I gave premium cigars a second try (after an uneducated start a few years ago), only because I had found the Holt's CZcams channel. Anthony makes it so easy to figure out how to properly smoke and enjoy a good cigar 💯💯💯
Glad to hear it, thanks for sharing Nathan! 🙌
Every cigar smoker needs a buddy like Tony. Cheers.
Like the in depth, with no fluff or redundancy. Actual knowledge, thanks OG!
Again the legend himself said it and owns it. Thank you Sir, I enjoy my cigar when I hear you taking us through Cigars.
Well-done, Anthony. For anyone who concludes they’re miles past all of this, look-up and out. There are certainly friends or neighbors who may be open-minded enough to appreciate a video like this shared to them. I wish I had this kind of a rundown when I started smoking cigars a year ago.
Absolutely love how thorough this is! It addresses so much ACTUAL beginners (like me) are asking in their heads, like the thing about the band or relighting, etc. Wonderful!
You showed great patients throughout the video and explained everything in detail
Your videos helped me out when I first got into cigars 13 months/400 cigars ago. And even though I know all the things you covered in this one, I still enjoy watching. Great work!
I feel very lucky I found this channel. Anthony you are a professor. Great tips for a beginner for brands and pairings
Mazz,
Always enjoy these. Well as always., Thanks again for all you do… blessings from Gettysburg Pa….
Thank you for the tips!! Started smoking cigars back in 02 in the marine corps. My local place was cigar grotto in oceanside, ca. I was afraid to ask questions! my best friend turned me on to my favorite cigar. Sweet by dirt. I've expanded my Verizon's. I love a great cigar when drinking a good whiskey and grilling! That's a happy day!
An excellent introduction for new smokers. Keep it coming.
You are excellent at giving these presentations. Thank you. I am a new shop owner in Central Florida,The Villages Holy Shmokes! I have been smoking for about 30 years. Went to our first PCA , met many of the leaders in the market. I thought i knew cigars ,how wrong i was! I am reading and listening to as much as possible and yours are some of my favorite . You know your stuff! Cigars are the most beautiful works of art out there . Thank you.
I would point any new cigar smoker to this channel in a heartbeat. Ashton Classic is definitely a superb choice for a first cigar. The only thing I might add would be in addition to when to stop smoking a cigar. For me, it is when the smoke just gets too hot and my tongue and lips are tingling. I'm not really tasting anything anymore anyway except the heat. For me, this is usually < 3/4".
That and figuring out a good mouth wash is a good idea for any cigar smoker who is married.
Never heard of a cigar journal! Very cool definitely getting one
You are an awesome resource for the cigar community. Thank you for all your knowledge and amazing ability to share it in a way that’s easily understandable and accessible. 🙏🏻
Appreciate the kind words, glad the content is helpful 🙌
What a great video! It encouraged me to restart my long forgotten tradition of sigar smoking!
I just started smoking last year? And these videos were HUGE in learning. I’d recommend any new smoker watch a LOT of videos.
Glad to see this channel growing. Love what you’re doing.
Much appreciated!
@@holtscigars I just subbed!! ‼️‼️😃
This guys a legend. I just learned more in 18 minutes then I have ever. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful 👊
I love smoking 1/3 off the cigar and letting it go out and finish smoking it the next day. I love the flavor the next day. I’m not normal lol. Love your videos
To each their own, thanks for watching!
Smoking my first cigar while watching this video. Glad I found your channel. Great experience.
Welcome to the world of premium cigars 👊
As someone who just started smoking cigars back in October, your videos have definitely helped me with many of the questions I've had about the practice. This video is great and the info about not being able to taste notes right away is something I needed to hear - I'm still working on that bit when it comes to smoking. Cheers!
Glad the video was helpful, cheers!
This is great information for a beginner cigar smoker. I will definitely share this info with those who are making their way to this lifestyle that we live. Thank you for all you do and the knowledge you share with us.
Thank you for watching and sharing!
Great video as always!
I have been smoking cigars for over 30 years. I'm embarrassed to say... I have rarely tasted anything more than one "taste". Yet there are cigars I enjoy and others I don't.
That’s all that matters 👊🏽
I’m a casual smoker, 2 to 3 a week, so I will spend a bit more to buy a few really good cigars than someone who is buying 30 a week and doesn’t want to mortgage their house for the hobby. Having said that, I do pick up some flavours but I sure don’t sweat it if I don’t, because I’m having a cigar to relax, not analyze it.
New cigar smoker here and I got started after one of my senior coworkers gifted me one after we talked tobacco and I found out he was a long time cigar smoker. Sometimes I’d literally see him drive away, after work, with a stogie in his mouth.😂
I shamefully fumbled some stuff here. Used my pocket knife to cut the cap off, luckily below the head and lit it up with a butane torch I bought from a gas station.
Only thing I know I got right was I did not inhale. Just puffed it while watching a movie in my garage.
It was when I hit that “sweet spot” mentioned here that I started to notice a creamy sensation on my tongue and note of vanilla and other spices as I was puffing it while drinking a glass of mead that was aged in oak bourbon barrel (shout out to Lost Cause Meadery).
Fell in love with cigars after that!
Fat bottom Betty robusto all day long
It's almost as if cigars are for successful men whome cannot partake in premium cannabis as they did in a prior chaper of their life! ❤
I love your videos. I have learned so much. I appreciate these videos to help new cigar smokers (like myself). I have already tried a couple of your cigar recommendations and you have not disappointed. Thanks for being my "cigar teacher."
Glad to hear it, thanks for watching!
Mazz, I have been enjoying your videos and short clips ever since I have subscribed to the channel. I am glad to find you guys as you given me so much information and reason of how cigars can be enjoyable time compare to when I first started smoking them in college.
Glad to hear it Mark, thanks for sharing!
Smoked my first cigar this weekend in the new cigar lounge inside Cesar’s Palace in Las Vegas, it was very relaxing, with great friends, drinking some great bourbon, puffin on a cigar, definitely going to do it more, great video
Great video as always
I've just started researching cigars and came across the Holt’s channel. You are an excellent resource. I look forward to diving into your videos to learn more about cigar etiquette, brands, history, flavors, etc.
Welcome aboard!
Theres a few of us out there that are newbies. Only been smoking 8ish months. Thanks for all the help my guy
Love your knowledge and videos! Well done, articulate, and an excellent dresser.
Much appreciated!
Im a new cigar lover, i have found a big love for the Acid cigars, especially the Blonde sticks.
Thank you for this educational video. I smoke cigars occasionally and your information has been very helpful. I’m no longer a novice after this video.
Great video as always, love your contets
Simply superb!
Thanks for this! I learned some new things even after smoking for a dozen years.
Glad to hear it!
I've been smoking cigars for ten years and I wish I had this resource available at the time. Had to learn the hard way. Still learning and loving the experience. Grateful for Anthony for putting this together, some home truths that need to be relearnt now and then. I still have trouble lighting the perfect light. always burns on the wrong side too much. LOL.
Happens to the best of us 😂 Thanks for watching!
Thank you Anthony I'm a non smoker but i enjoy your videos.
Happy to have you here either way 👊
i will not forget my first cigar in 2021...Montecristo White Label. ...few weeks later, i tried a Partagas and a Romeo and Julieta...great vid
Great advice thanks for posting
Great video, I haven’t had a “big boy” cigar yet (black n milds in highschool 🤣) but follow warfighter tobacco and bought a kit from them and plan on smoking my first here soon. Came across your shorts and have been taking notes!
I appreciate your telling of the feeling of greatness when you smoke I also do this when I get my hair cut and it's always good to mk sure we reward ourselves daily with what we all do!!!!
No doubt!
I appreciate these 101 videos. Even if i am not strictly learning something new; this one helped me to recognize I have gotten careless with my cuts. Also, somehow I had been thinking giving a re-toast and relight meant I was ashing wrong. I appreciate getting that sliver of confidence back.
🙌
I absolutely love the James Hetfield M84 and M80 cigars. The M84 is my favorite with their whiskey
Begginer here and I thank you for your informative video. Definitely helped.
Glad it was helpful!
I really enjoyed watching this video. Not only is it educational but i really loved the vibes you gave off. enjoyable to watch.
Much appreciated, glad it was helpful!
Good Evening 😊 Thanks for sharing a very informative video👌🏽 Have a great day & Greetings from South Africa 🇿🇦
Actually this video was so fantastic because in my first trial to smoke a cigar i make a lot of mistakes , so with this wonderful explanation from Mr. Antony i learned a alot and will try to avoid my past mistakes .. Thx Mr. Antony
Great video. Good to see an good overview of tips. Even though Ive been enjoying cigars for some time I’ve never considered relighting after ashing unless it went out. That explains the occasional wonky burn issues. Good tip!
I'm guilty also. That's why you get those areas where it seems it's not going evenly.
Thanks Anthony, you are making me a better cigar smoker 😉. 👍🏾
I used to smoke cigarettes and have no intention to start smoking cigars but it was a pleasure to watch and listen about your passion! Very fine and educational video!
Thank you!
I just smoked my first cigar and your video really helped! It almost burnt down perfectly and I really loved the experience! Btw it was the Montosa Churchill. Thank you for this video and greetings from Germany!
Glad to hear you enjoyed!
Great video! I've been smoking for a long time and I even learned something new...
Glad to hear it!
Great video, you are one of the best in the cigar world
Much appreciated 🙏
Thanks for the video, up here in Ontario and I received a Monte Cristo my friends picked up in the Dominican. I am planning to smoke it with them at their wedding and this video helped, going to buy a cutter and a tray to do it right and may get into the hobby 👍🙏 merci !
Just got me a job at The Cigar Box here in Texas, these videos and my boss Bill have been the most helpful of learning all this information
Awesome, congrats!
Where’s that at
That’s what’s up…I bought 2 cigars from you and Bill this morning. Enjoying it right now.
Very enjoyable informative video thank you brother❤
Thanks for this video. Great tips.
I've just recently started smoking cigars. Your videos are very informative!!!
glad to hear it, welcome to the cigar world!
Glad I found this vid before making my first purchase, really great advice. Now Im a fan. 😂
Welcome aboard!
Appreciate your video, I'm thinking to visit my local cigar shop and your video as a kick start will make my visit and end result go better. Thanks!
New smoker here (a few months in). Thanks for the tip about relighting once you ash it! I would just keep smoking after I ashed it, and a lot of the time it would start burning unevenly and drive me crazy! I'm a big fan of retro-haling because I don't like the taste of smoke in my mouth. Right now, I'm loving the My Father line....particularly My Father The Judge! Love your channel!!!
👊🔥
This was perfect!
I'm a newish cigar smoker and I really enjoy an Undercrown Maduro. Great video!
🙏
Those are good pieces of advice!
Thank you for the tips! I appreciate smoking cigars too! And I’m new to it!
Welcome aboard, glad they were helpful!
@@holtscigars can you please a review on Villa Zamorano cigars?
I thought like most videos I would start watching and move on after 30 seconds. I can't believe I just watched this whole thing 😂. There's something to be said about someone who is passionate about a subject and is great at explaining it.
I’ll be in a humidor with my phone checking if what ever cigar has a Holts review or recent review video. I dont have too many cigar shops near me. So I find myself walking into smoke shops with humidors. I find cool stuff but usually the people working there have more knowledge on bongs than cigars.
You could make the cigars come to you 😉
I've been smoking cigars occasionally for the past few years , unfortunately here in the uk cigars are extortionate and you won't get a decent premium cigar under £20 (I don't know what that is in dollars) but your videos are great , keep up the good work.
Hi Anthony, Thank you for the videos you put up. I am a beginner, and your videos have been helpful. I am based in the deep south of New Zealand. It is hard to find cigars down here. But I have found Romeo Y Julieta, Cohiba, and H Upmann. Thanks once again and for your videos, and I am looking forward to educating myself with your videos 😊 and, one day, smoking a cigar with you.
As someone who’s been in the cigar world since 2023.11.10, I gotta say it’s a really good video as it’s properly described my learning journey (shout out to holts and my dearest friend Jack along the way🤣) my first stick is davidoff signature 2000, and my fav for now is Olivia series V melanio maduro
My first real cigar shop experience, about nine years ago, I told the shop owner “point me to something Schwarzenegger would smoke” and he handed me a Cain Straight Ligero. That has been my favorite ever since. I love the heavy, dark, peppery smoke.
Just bought a few ones you mentioned on another video cigars on a budget so bought the 10 of them to start off looking forward to a wee whisky and cigar tonight, love from scotland 🚬 🥃 💙
Cheers!
@@holtscigars so I went for the san cristobal with my friends new malt called raer whisky (local to my town I got the first malt they are only 10 years old and its a 10 year old malt) wow was stunning, thank you for your advice im a total novice with cigars but the pairing with cigars and whisky is outstanding 🤝
ur the best! ty, hopefully it goes well with my first cigar
Love this thanks. I’ve been smoking for years and just finally learned how to smoke. I personally like COHIBA They a little stronger but. Smoking them the right way. Made it so much more enjoyable thank you sir.
Great analysis.
Now I’d say I’m a good looking guy myself.
This dude is also a good looking guy, but the fact he’s dressed in a suit, can smoke cigars, talk about cigars, sitting in an awesome leather chair.
This guy is my idol!!!
😂 🙏
Brilliant. GOAT cigar seller
I’m so excited to start my journey lol this meant a lot! Thank you .. I’d love to have suggestions as well .. I’m going to try the Ashton
Ashton is a great place to start! You can also try Perdomo 10th Anniversary Champagne, Oliva Connecticut Reserve, and La Aroma de Cuba just for a few suggestions. Welcome aboard 👊
Great video. Thanks for the tips.
Glad it was helpful 🙌
I'm 18, and i've always wanted to try cigars 🙃 this video is hella helpful bro
Don't remember if you mention this that you should eat well before smoking so you lessen the chance of getting cigar sick.
💯
The Ashton Classic.. Once again 😄
Very nice video! Thank you!
Thank you for all the tips!! Just getting into this beautiful experience, as a longtime bourbon man, finally looking forward to marrying the two!!
Welcome aboard!
Yessir ordered my cigars. coming in a couple days
Thank you for your support, hope you enjoy 🙏
I quit smoking cigarettes about 4 months ago. Long time smoker about 30 years. I found that I felt like I was missing it not so much craving it but missing the ritual. I decided that rather than go out and buy a pack I would give a cigar a try and see if I enjoy that more and can leave cigarettes behind completely.
My first cigar will be a Romeo Y Julieta Belvederes
Good advice from an expert. Thank you.
Anytime 👊
Hey Anthony, my buddies and I will be stopping in next month to pick up some old henrys for a wedding and likely some Padrons. I hope to get a chance to say hi and thank you for all the videos and for running such a great business.
Hope to see you in! Thank you for the support 🙏
The table/cutter method is brilliant. Wish I knew that method 25 years ago
Better late than never 😂
I wish I could smoke my first cigar again. The one I smoked was a horrible gas station cigar handed out by a friend when I was 19 or so. It was so incredibly bad that I never touched a cigar again for well over 10, because I thought every cigar was like that. Unfortunately I didn't know any better. Luckily today, with video's like this I hope people will have a way better experience.
Thank you for the lesson. I am going on a bachelors trip and plan on smoking cigars with my brothers for the first time.
Glad it was helpful, hope you enjoy 👊
Excellent video. Thank you.
Thanks for watching!
I first and only smoked a cigar when I was around 18 when my friend came back with a couple of them from Cuba, and I smoked one just for the sake of saying I smoked cigar. Now a decade later, I woke up this morning and for no apparent reason remembered that experience. Now I want to smoke a cigar the right way, hence I am here.
You're in the right place 😉
