  • Welcome to Campbell's Coins! Submitting coins to PCGS can be confusing for beginners. In this episode, I try to clear some of that confusion up and show how one can submit an order online. I've sent these coins and other off to PCGS for grading, I had to use up my 8 free submissions before I lost them with my membership renewal. What do you think these coins will grade? Comment below with your answers. I'll show you the results when I get this order back from PCGS.

    What do you think these coins will grade? Comment below! Before you ask why I bothered getting these coins graded, I had 8 vouchers to use up before my membership expired. A use it or lose it situation. Plus, I thought each of these would bring the viewers a different grade. I’ll reveal the results in another video when I get them back from PCGS.

    Thank you for the video. A year or so ago I looked into get some of my comic books graded and was very confused by the process & hated the idea of anything going wrong especially with the few I wanted graded. Although this is PCGS and the coin process it's very similar. Again thanks for sharing your information & thoughts!

      All grading processes are complicated on purpose. I feel we should switch to AI grading and eliminate the human error. Thanks for watching!

    Yeh, I feel ya. I'm at that point I have a few older coins I've been wanting to send in for a while, and when I called I had to let her tell me about the service grade level and what that endtails, which I would add she never told me about the +1% that goes along with the rarity grading level. She just told me it would cost $300 for any coin over 100k. I don't know if my coin I have is worth that, becouse I need It graded professionally, so there lies the quandry. I'm hoping the coin is worth over 100k, but on that same note the free vouchers are worth Jack sh*t and you still have to pay that membership fee plus the $300+1% depending if there own grading scale has a price determination for that next grade up no one has either graded or sold out in the marketplace for them to put an auction or selling price. So basically if you luck out and have a rare coin that grades over "recommended" sale price of $100k, your basically paying $250 membership, Then $300 +1% of the estimated value if over $100k, and whatever shipping to and from costs for 1 coin. I mean I can use the 8 vouchers later but dang, ya best hope ya credits good if your lucky enough to find a coin you think may be high dollar. So* $550+1% and whatever the shipping and insurance cost, which insuring something that high is prob the same pricing. Pple be wantn them fees whether or not the coin grades over that amount. They do enough buisness im sure they could charge the appropriate fees for each coin, but pple n places scratchn hard for a dollar these days. Use to not be so much greed an more professional pple wouldn't fee bang ya, but these days its all about that last dollar they can squeeze. Reflects bad on us as a society more than gettin that $1000.00 dollars from old granny that jus wants to get her 1 coin in to get graded to know if its a rare one so she can give to her kids at some point. In which point it won't get graded and probably knocked around an a potentionally rare coin never makes it in to get graded. They should do a susbstantial discount if the coin is rare becouse if for nothing else, the love for coin collecting. They should show a cool respect for their rare coins instead of fee banging. I mean they should incentivize pple to send in rare and great condition coins for their survival becouse this is a cool part of our history, and somedays looking back is the only good things we can find for the moment. Sorry for the Essay, just alot of feeling for our state of being now. Like to see it go back like when we use to name the decades of the year. Thats all, Peace n tater grease.

    I know the NGC and PCGS service, both are excellent for American currencies. Sometimes grid 1 or 2 points up or down. But I confess that foreign currencies are too flawed for authentication. There is a lack of specialized people in this area. I think they should really only classify American currencies. I've seen every encapsulation of Roman coins that make your hair stand on end, there are pieces that you can't tell if they are fake or real due to so much wear. But they simply encapsulate because it is an advantageous market. I am an ANA Member myself, and really in my opinion I don't find it interesting to have a coin sealed in an acrylic box, and I can't touch it and feel the whole story behind the coin in my hands. Coins have always been collected in this way, but suddenly from 3 decades, these firms started to emerge, in fact vision to really profit. I still consider and use the classic way to collect coins.

    Unfortunately buyer investors rely on these grading companies to buy , pretty soon we are going to need grading companies to buy chickens . I've been holding on what I suspect to be a 1943 nickle " P" for a few years , question is should I invest on one of these grading companies just for that specific coin ??. I have friends , who offer themselves to have it graded for me , but we are talking about a very rare coin , that could fetch thousands of dollars .

    So I’m guessing the best move is to select 3k max coin value for your coin and if it’s worth more, they will contact you to pay more? You think that would work?

    Yeah. I have 3-4 coins I want to get graded. But it really has kept me from it. Just understanding all the different service levels and a membership on top. They really should make it a little more KISS. Perhaps if I get some more coins I'll sign up just to have the membership a year and then cancel it again. Way too expensive to have just in case.
    They really should have some standard a little higher priced service for people not member. You want it in gold shield? Check. You get it back in slab with full info no matter - even fakes are slabbed marked as fake. Check. Estimate your coins value then pay and submit and depending on the result of the grading you either has to pay more or get money back. Should really be that simple(!) and I'm sure many more people would actually get coins graded. I can sign up for a membership no issue but all those options on the form are just really confusing.
    What if you submit coins in original capsules - do you get the capsules back? One of them I'll like to keep original box that is of course not submitted - but the capsule could be.

      Unless your coin is worth a lot of money, it's not really worth it. It protects your coin from further harm and verifies it to the world your coin is genuine but in all honesty, unless it's worth a good amount, over $100, I don't think it's worth it.

    • @CampbellsCoins
      @CampbellsCoins  Před 3 lety +1

      Lalo_RTG Fifa submission depends on the condition and rarity of the coins. If the 1922 is in good shape (above MS65) it’s worth sending. The 1928 is worth sending because it’s a key date and worth some money even in lower grades. The regular service is fine for both these BUT you need to determine if the coin’s values outweigh the costs involved.

      No problem brother! I thought it would grade out at a 64 because The slight wear, bag marks or light scratches. I’m responding without watching the video again lol so if my recollection is correct, that is why I think that’s where it will fall somewhere in that range.
