My borehole is 74 metres deep, yields 4.5 cubic metres (4,500 lts) per hour. I spent 480k to install a solar pump from Davis and Shirtliff. Two years down the line, no electricity bills.

My friend had a borehole drilled for $3500 (in Guinea Conakry) which at the time was approximately ksh 400000. She paid in installments for 3months. This is one business that would do very well in Kenya but the only thing we hear is "it depends" and then prices are over exaggerated.

For those asking. When you drill into the ground, there is a lot of variables. You do not know how deep to drill, What type of soil (Loose, Clay, Gravel and worse Rock). Some want Plastic casing. Cheap but not suitable for all cases. You also don't know how big a pump you require and the capacity. Depends on how much water you find. See why its so difficult to give an accurate figure? No two boreholes are the the same. that is why he keeps saying depends on Location. To know a good estimate, ask any nearby neighbour who had one dug. then make an estimate. From his information, About 1 - 1.5m Project Budget, for 100 - 150m deep. Not bad. Its a lot of work, materials and workers. I hope this helps.

and I think "it depends" on how many of us he wanna steal from.

If “it depends” would ever be an adequate answer to any question, no conversations or questions could ever be made because everything “depends”. Such a important topic and you bring a guest who doesn’t want to answer questions. What a waste of a good opportunity. Common Miano, you can do better.
