0:00 passing olmec
0:30 vlads cape only (most common for me)
1:52 if you have a shotgun (easiest situation)
3:02 no loot at all besides starting items (difficult, avoid this situation as much as you can)

Doppelganger D it is possible i have done it before. A bomb obviously destroys the purple hitboxes on phase 2 olmec in one go.
The thing is, im impacient af.
You can skip the whole fight and still get the ankh, if you have a teleporter. Just bomb your way to Waddler and from there you can teleport straight to ankh

Yoo, thats so sick actually. I also found that if you’re playing slow and have a powerpack and a few bombs, you only need 9 to dig a hole all the way to the bottom, and around 7 ropes to climb back and lure Olmec in.
yeah, but I can't ever fit get him to fit directly on a 4 tile wide hole for the second and third phase skip :l
Just make sure you place your bombs correctly this is the most common tactic I use

Actually for the fourth method to beating Olmec, I have a safer way of doing essentially the same thing.
I got this strategy from practicing the olmec boss fight with the olmec shortcut.
TL;DR
1. Rope between second and third torch
2. (Optional) Make Olmec smash down if took the shortcut
3. Deal damage to hover pads before bombs start throwing
4. Hide at top of rope for bomb attack
5. If Olmec throws bombs while underneath you, will take you off the rope, hold up to remain on rope
6. At the right moment when Olmec is passing by, climb down and deal damage to hover pads (Each hover pad has 3 health, break one hover pad and leave the other one with 1 health)
7. Wait 3 minutes, and deal final blow on Olmec’s hover pad, if you broke the right hover pad, deal the final blow when Olmec approaches from the right side. Vice versa for left hover pad.
8. If there is land on the side you need to drop Olmec, move to a new location and throw a rope.
9. Once Olmec drops, find land, rope down.
10. Throw him in the lava
11. Go to background stage and get the parachute near the exit at the top along with the Ankh.
12. Use parachute to glide to the world you want to enter.
If done correctly, will enter the next world with Ankh, 4 bomb, 1-2 rope.
Long Version
1. After making it to the second floor, jump and throw a rope in the air IN BETWEEN the SECOND and THIRD torch. (Olmec always spawns in this exact location)
2. (Optional) If you took the shortcut, climb to the top of the rope and Olmec will see you and smash down to the second floor.
3. Once he’s down, climb on the rope and use your whip to deal damage to his hover pads.
4. Once Olmec moves away, he’s going to start chucking bombs so you need to hide. Climbing to the top of the rope will prevent his bombs from reaching you.
5. (Optional) While waiting at the top of the rope, it is a good idea to examine the pattern of Olmec, get used to how much distance he crosses before he shoots out bombs again. Also watch out, if Olmec starts throwing bombs while underneath you, he will take you off the rope, hold UP when this happens and it will be fine.
6. When you have his pattern memorized, wait for the right moment when he is passing by, and climb to the bottom of the rope to whip the hover pads some more. You want to break one of the hover pads and leave the other one with one health. (Both hover pads have 3 health each)
7. Wait until the timer reaches 3 minutes, hopefully only one of his hover pads will have health at this point. You’ll need to whip that hover pad to make him drop. If the RIGHT hover pad is broken, you’ll need to whip him when he is approaching from the RIGHT side. If the LEFT hover pad is broken, whip from LEFT side.
8. If there is land remaining on the side you need to whip Olmec, wait for an opportunity and move to a better area with no land so Olmec will fall when you strike him.
9. Once Olmec falls, find blocks to stand on and rope down.
10. Get him to fall in a lava opening.
11. There will always be a parachute in a crate near the exit of the background, so make sure to grab that along with the Ankh.
12. Climb down the ladder, and jump through the hole between the second and third torch, using the parachute to glide to either of the two doors.
13. If done correctly, you will enter the next world with the Ankh, 4 bombs, and 1-2 ropes.
This strategy works 90% of the time for me

When I killed olmec for the first time but then fell into the lava I lost it
I assumed I always had to go fast as possible against Olmek so I rarely ever waited, knowing I can be patient now is gonna help a lot
You should mention about trying this with the shortcut, as well as doing it where you don't kill olmec but get the ankh
Ive never tried to go to the ankh cave but I will go now because now I now methods how to defeat olmec. Also manfred for my character collection

It is okay, if it was a bit hard.
If you use a rope from about the third torch you find on the wall of the shortcut that takes you to level three and jump off it, you can get Olmec to crush down and entirely skip his first stage.

it would have made more sense if Olmec's second and third phases were switched since the second phase is the hardest phase and u can skip over the third phase if u wait
Just wanted to post this comment somewhere about my new record of 6-2, I had vlads cape and the kapala and I was at more than 15 hp, still had the ankh because I decided to go to the temple, and was scared about fighting anubis with no sticky bombs or a weapon so I just ran off, as soon as I got to 6-1 I got hit by I think one of those electric sphere things and knocked below an elevator and got crushed, but I lived with the ankh then made it to 6-2, and in 6-2 got hit by two sparky spheres and died, at least I got far, my old record was like 5-1 or 5-2

I can't consitently do the strat for the first phas. When I try to just run straight forward he just does a lil jump and doesn't try to smash. Am I messing it up somehow?

Passing olmec with a gap that little is risky, I usually run farther, means it takes more time but is 100% success
