- After carefully breaking in John Hennessey's new 2023 Dodge Demon 170, we raced to put the car on our dyno to see what VIN #0025 puts down at the rear wheels from the factory! Turn those speakers up and enjoy as this product of Satan rips to a 6,500 RPM redline.

To all the haters, if it dynos at 924 horse power at the wheels that translates to over 1050 horses at the crank! And as far as the body style being outdated? Give me a break, the retro looking muscular body style is why this car sells!! For comparison, when was the last Porsche 911 body make over? I can't tell the difference between a 2023 911 and a 1993 911.

Yep I bought a charger to throw 4k lbs around like old school muscle and 4 doors for the car seat. If I wanted pure speed I’d buy another 87 Buick grand national.
11.2 on a stock block with a few bolt ons at 32psi. 12.1 after mods on 7 psi.

Amazing times. Thirty years ago drove around in a 503 ci 1969 Camaro. At the time this 720hp metal body beast ran 11.20s if memory serves. Mini tub, aluminum fuel cell, skinnies up front and auto meter hood gauges. To drive any distance required planning. A lumpy idle drive downtown required a stop for a cool down. So you had an ice cream or hamburger while that monster cooled. Then you continued to do your drive up the main drag then off to cool again. Point is you turn the key on this and treat it like an everyday 900 plus horse power commuter. Not just a toy, drive it to work with the AC on. Its amazing times we live in where you can discuss new over 600hp engines as common place.

It probably makes makes more than that, since they dynoed in 5th gear, I believe the 1 to 1 gear is in 6th but I think the car doesn't allow that on the dyno.
Exactly Racer X put his demon 170 on the dyno.and the car won't let hit max rpm on the dyno in 6th gear. And I assuming he didn't have E85 in the tank. The guy that explained the dyno numbers figured it would be around 900 to the wheel.

1050 crank is easily 1200 HPE.
@@Cgee3 no it's 1113 hp at the crank. Dodge rates them 1025 hp at the crank.
@@wkjeeping9053 my comment was a dig at the video maker for always rating their cars to have a much higher flywheel rating than it should hence the HPE moniker following the 1200.

My hellcat challenger 6spd made 955whp on Tim Barth's dyno, i have less than $100k in the whole car. It doesn't take much to make big power out of the MIGHTY CHRYSLER HEMI
The tesla s and x plaid will leave you quietly in the dust🤣
@richardcoats5586 so far the MIGHTY CHRYSLER HEMI makes upwards of 12,000 horsepower and that's without having to be hooked to the internet. If the fastest ev is to slow for you then you'll have to gut it, deal with getting beat or move up to a faster ice vehicle that suits your needs.

5L CobraJets have been in the 8’s for four years now.They are right out of the factory like these,Ford will not allow them on the streets tho.Probably a good idea,with inexperienced drivers and 8 sec race cars.

...there's a LOT more to that price than sheer HP...there's the trans, the special drive shaft, the chute, power chiller, the full on bard ECU that can be tuned from the head unit, the tires and rims....people forget that this isn't just a Challenger with a crazy engine...it's a turn-key purpose built drag car that you can drive home...and that's not cheap...it's actually not a bad deal considering the Drag Pak, which is even more crazy but much less of a car...and you certainly can't drive it home for not a lot less
...lots of people groan that their '97 Stang etc. makes the same power for a lot less...while that may be true, most of those cars will not 60ft the same, 0-60 the same, launch the same, or put down a remotely similar ET or trap speed as one of these....yeah they are a bit over priced, but that's a whole different issue there.
My 1997 4.6 mustang gt makes this kinda power.. hahahahaha

Well heres another person who doesn't understand how a dyno works. Yes they lied but not in the way you think. 926 whp. With lets just say 15% loss is over 1000hp. And probably more than 1025. Wheel hp and crank hp are very different.
