• Holy Shift! STOCK 2004...
This Honda 2000 has ONLY 23,710 miles! Thanks to Sam and his beautiful car, we are able to experience what a truly stock, low mileage example of one of the best cars ever produced. High redline, Rear Wheel Drive, the BEST 6 Speed manual transmission on any factory road car that I have ever felt, Limited Slip differential (made of glass by the way) and a solid F22 2.2L engine with semi-forged internals from the factory. Pushing 240 Horsepower and 168 lb of Torque, you really have to rev this thing out to enjoy it it to the fullest, and each time you row through the gears, it will put a smile on your face like no other! #Honda #S2000 #ap2

Sam ended up trading in his cars for a Cayman! He bought a nicely speced Porsche Cayman with a 6 speed manual, and it is currently his daily/fun car. He's really enjoying it. He will return to the channel with his Cayman next time, and that review will be amazing just like this one!
They're both amazing cars. I personally don't like the exhaust note of my S2K nearly as much as the h6
@@psychdoggg i love the s2ks. Q300 sounds great on them but we all have our preferences and we can build them to our liking 😎
@@MaxSpeedMike I have an HKS dual, and supercharged. It may be one of the nicer sounding 4cyl engines, but Porsche won my heart years ago.
@@psychdoggg i feel ya man. The first s2000 i ever drove was supercharged.
This is it: czcams.com/video/sDExwUi7pGM/video.html
I really want a manual gt3, then a gt3rs. Love those damn things.
@@psychdoggg All you need is the UK mod and the stock exhaust it perfection.
I’m glad you got to experience what 1000’s of us have already experienced. I have an ‘05 with 43k miles on it. White exterior with tan interior. Absolutely just loving raking through the gears and the vtec shift point is perfect with this tranny. Amazing car for 16 years old! Can’t wait to hear what you get!
Thanks Ron! I'll document the s2k from the start of searching for one, and I will build it along the channel. For now, stay tuned as I am building an NB1 miata.
Your car sounds like a gem haha. Keep enjoying it. The white with tan combo is unique, idk what it is about it but i love that color combo.
Did you just say “vtec shift point is perfect with that tranny”? You have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about. First of all if you have a 2005 like you said, then you know that when getting on it, it falls out of vtec from first to second. You were literally lying for no damn reason at all. Are you like 12? I don’t get it man, why act like that?
I own almost the exact same car. 100 percent stock, original paint 2004 Rio Yellow Pearl but with 31k miles. My car spent its entire life in Florida and I am also the third owner. This is my third S2000 and I will keep this forever
Sometimes it takes owning multiple s2000s to realize how good it is, and that it most likely won't be replicated. Therefore the first one I buy, will be a forever car for sure! Keep enjoying your sweet ap2 Glenn!
I have a 2001 Spa Yellow with 23.7k, this was right up my alley! Great video, truly amazing cars.
Thank you dude! I absolutely love these cars. The first one I get my hands on is going to be a forever car.
@@MaxSpeedMike I'm an old man now, but these came out when I was a Junior in HS and I said that someday I'd own one. I've had it for 11 years now, I do consider selling it occasionally, but then Spring comes around and that thought fades (Chicago issues). Having two small children does hurt how much use she gets, but every time I slip into the cockpit I know that this is a special car, and while I appreciate and cherish mine, it makes me sad that no one makes anything like this anymore. A pure car, not for cruising, not comfortable, but raw. No drivers aids, snap oversteer (AP1), no heated seats, a car that was designed to be rewarding, but kill you if you mess up. I was always a fan of the 993 and earlier 911s, I feel like this is close, while looking better with the top down.
In a world lost to the generic white "SUV", these will always be the last bastion of hope for the years that loved the Austin Healy 3000/MGB/Bug Eye Sprite/etc.
Buy one and love her, if I didn't have mine, my kids would be deprived of this joy.
Thank you very much for taking the time to watch and leave comments. I love it.
It does make me sad that these cars seem to be no more. I personally do not care for SUVs. The way it was 20 years ago was fine. You had a sports car for sports car purposes, and a daily driver for daily driver purposes. No matter how fast you make these SUVs, today's cars are long behind in comparison to cars like the s2000.
Love my 2002 Berlina Black S2K. Bought it brand new in May 2002. 63K miles. Still totally stock like it was in the show room. I'm the Only owner! Incredible feeling driving around town and the open road. My son can't wait to inherit it. lol lol lol
You are the type of guy i'd love to buy an s2000 from haha. Glad you kept it all these years. Keep enjoying it, these are great forever cars!
Great video. Your final thoughts are spot on. I sold my 04 AP2 and immediately regretted selling it. Luckily I found a 2008 berlina black with 10k miles I plan on keeping forever. I hope you’re able to find a nice one eventually for yourself.
Please do. I will eventually own one as well. The s2000 is a forever car for me.
And thanks for the kind words! Much appreciated.
Enjoy your 08. I have a feeling Sam will buy another s2000 sometime in the future as well. They're just so damn good
My buddy has a black 08 as well, full bolt on and tuned. Good numbers for an na motor, and he beats the piss out of it. Will have him on the channel soon. His channel is iMickel ap2. You can see how he drives there lol
I have an 06 with hondata flashpro and a custom exhaust. Or lack of haha. It’s just a 3” pipe with a resonator. No muffler at all, no catalytic converter, and it’s on Swift Spec R springs. If you can get 06+ def do it just for the tuning capabilities. That higher rev limit and lowered vtec changes the entire personality of the ap2 for the better. Only thing you said that I giggled at was the gas mileage comment haha. It def sucks when it comes to mpg bro. If you want to drive a slightly modded one I’ll drive from destin to central Florida. My car is night and day from what you drove in this video and you will smile the entire time

And thank you, I appreciate the offer! If you do ever make your way over here, hit me up on Instagram @maxspeedmike
I'll dm you my number there
What I meant by the gas mileage comment was, in comparison to what sports cars you can buy today, which are mostly inline 6s and v8s etc, the s2k gets better gad mileage than those things. When I drive cars like corvettes or even bmws or supras with an inlime 6, I get 10-12 mpg 🤣 got 8 with a Shelby gt350 before lol
S2k video with 2k views and 2 weeks ago lol I’ll why but I found that interesting 😆 great video btw!
Haha love it! Thanks for watching my dude :D
Pure Quality !
Thanks bro :)
Picking up a 2008 (UK car) with 14k miles on Monday! cant wait.
Uff awesome man!!! Enjoy her for years to come. They're absolutely amazing
Great video! Saw this while searching s2k content. I just bought a 00 AP1 with 32k miles. I've test driven a few I prefer the AP2 engine but love the sketchy handling of the AP1. Trying to find safe places to really push it and do a video review shortly on my driving experiences.
Congrats on your low mileage ap1!! And thanks for checking out the video :) keep learning and enjoying the s2k, it'll make you a better driver
AP1 owner - I've read this before and find it to be true-
The AP2 is a better car.
The AP1 is a better S2000.
@@SmartDrug i like that. Great way to describe it.
@@SmartDrug Yup that makes sense. If I had a choice I'd buy an AP1 with the whole AP2 engine and rear diff. Maybe door inserts for more speakers and the rims. I bought the ap2v1s. Mine is too nice to butcher though.
I spent a year looking for the right AP2v1 car and finally found it in 2017. Given what's happened with prices for these cars since then, I would be setting my sites on examples with much higher mileage these days. But I would definitely be okay with that knowing just how capable these cars are at racking up lots of miles. For what it's worth, I almost never drive my S2000 with the top up - the fact that it's a roadster was one of the primary draws for me. Good luck with your search!
I have a miata at the moment, and I drive it the same way most of the time. Top down! I would do the same with the s2000 i buy. Sounds like you found a really nice one. Thanks for watching man! Whenever I get the s2000 i'll document the whole thing and build it here on youtube
@@MaxSpeedMike One of the contributing factors of the escalating prices for these cars revolves around just how many fewer all-original cars like the one in this video are left. However, it wasn't quite so challenging or as expensive to find cars like this just four short years ago. I myself had a few specifics I was looking for that extended my search out longer - I wanted an all-original AP2v1 car in Grand Prix White over black/tan with low miles. That's what ended up taking a full year back in the 2016/2017 timeframe.
Like I said, I wouldn't be as concerned with the mileage today understanding what I now know of these cars after owning one for a few years (along with the impacts of today's prices for these cars). Whereas four years ago I set my sites on those cars with less than 30K miles, these days I'd likely be looking at cars with 130K miles or less, but I wouldn't totally rule out cars with even higher mileage. I wanted an all-original car because I knew I would be keeping it that way. Were I buying one of these cars to modify, I would be far less worried with the originality. However, I would definitely still fixate on overall condition. A car with higher mileage in great overall condition with good maintenance records would appeal far more to me than a car with lower mileage that looks to have not been well cared for. Finally, the AP1 cars are typically selling for many thousands less than the AP2 cars and if you don't have a strong color preference, the Suzuka blue cars with the all blue interiors have long represented some of the best buys in the used S2000 market. (They all drive the same irrespective of the color.)
Thank you for the comment. You hit every nail on the head. I'm not worried so long as the car was maintained properly. My friend Tony has a supercharged ap2 with almost 260k miles on the original engine. Supercharged at 220k. He still dailies it sometimes. Here's the review: czcams.com/video/sDExwUi7pGM/video.html
I can't bring myself to get a suzuka blue lol. However when the right one comes up, I will buy. I love the black and red interior, and I also wouldn't mind the same spec you have with the white and tan. Hopefully i snag one sooner than later
Impressed with this dudes ability to get into any car and shift it so well immediately. It takes talent to do that
Thank you man, that really means a lot to me. I'm so passionate about driving, i try to be the best driver I can be!
clean ap2 i have a 2001 berlina black ap1 with 109k miles bought it 4 years ago for 10k with only 32k miles still stock apart from a cold air intake enjoy the car every weekend
WOW man you got an absolute STEAL! Keep enjoying the car! I can't wait to get one myself
@@MaxSpeedMike Yea it's insane how much they are going for now i see salvage title ones and people are asking 10k same goes for the f20&f22 motors i see them listed for 7k and it's insane how much value they have gained
@@cis2k128 yeah man crazy for sure. hold on to yours lol
I bought a bone stock red 2004 in 2020. It had less than 80,000 kilometers. I am its forth owner, the last owner had it for 10 years. It spent 5 months stowed away for the winter, so I am rediscovering the car this week as if it is a new purchase. It isn't my first VTEC, I also own a 94 Integra GSR which I bought new in 1994. That car has fewer than 90,000 kilometers.
You have good taste 😎 Keep enjoying your ap2 brotha. Lovely car
I see that MKBHD shirt 👀
Ayeee! yeah sam is into tech as well lol
I absolutely hated the look of the s2k but just test drove it and for some reason out immediately grew on me in looks and performance
Glad you test drove one. They're amazing cars! Best shifter in the car world imo
The Honda S2000 ROCKS
Agreed! I still want one. Will buy one eventually.
I have a 2007 Laguna Pearl Blue with 50k miles. Wish it was as perfect body shape as yours! Mechanically it’s perfect but has quite a few rock chips and a few dents :(
Chips, dings, and scratches happen when you drive a car. This is a driver's car, it is meant to be driven. People in the market for these things usually dont mind as long as it is clean title and no real damage. Keep enjoying your ride dude! Love LPB 🤘
Drive.....Use synthetic....Enjoy!
Nothing like a Honda baby.
I love s2000
Damn right! Haha. I love them too. When i buy one, it will be a forever car
@@MaxSpeedMike I have a delsol si b16 1994 first owner and a 2005 s2000 first owner and I will not sale ever.
@@carlosalenduran4630 beautiful cars!! Enjoy them forever :)
@@MaxSpeedMike I will . 👍
On s2000 number 3. Always go back.
I hear ya man. I think Sam will own another in the future. I cannot wait to buy one. I will hold onto it forever and enjoy it to the fullest!
I bought a brand new 2006 plate S2000 which I traded for a Porsche 911 in 2008. The Porsche was a 'better' car but I really missed the S2000 so I recently bought my friend's 2005 plate, stock S2000, complete with OEM hardtop. It needed a bit of TLC but is now an immaculate example. Despite having 80k miles on the clock, it has not burned any oil in 3000 miles, including a track day at Brands Hatch, but my friend did drive it somewhat fearfully after she span it once on track, so I think the engine has seen little hard-wearing action.
I have many faster cars, but the S2000 is the one I drive the most, it's just a pure fun machine and very cheap to run, so much so that I gave my E Class to my wife so I could use the S2000 as my daily dose of fun!
I would daily the shit out of an s2000! Your passion for the car speaks volumes. This was Shigeru Uehara's plan when he helped design the car. Keep enjoying the car man, and props for the playing on your channel, you're good!
Beautiful car!
I know right! I'm not big on yellow cars, it only works on a few select cars. This is definitely one of them! Rio yellow pearl is gorgeous
What is "the tall guy mod"? I own a euro AP2 myself and could definently use a lower driver seat.
Here's a link to the tall guy mod:

I have an ap1 2000 with 47k miles on it. Bought it with 43k miles. Only thing is its salvage but for some reason everything still looks in top shape so I bought it since I was desperate for one with low mileage
Salvage is gonna be tough for resale value. Just make sure the frame is straight.
Enjoy the car man. S2000s are awesome!
I bought my first S2000, a 2004 with 9k miles for $19k. My second was a n 11k mile 2006 for $24k. I also had a M2 as a daily but I prefer my BMW 1M over the M2
Hey Glenn thanks for commenting! I found your channel way back in the day from Rob Ferretti. I'm sure you have some cool stories with the cars you've had over the years.
I hope to get a clean s2000 in the near future. Something about these cars just makes me feel extra alive lol. The 1m is an amazing car. I can't wait to review one.
If only it was an AP1!
Both are amazing. I will have an ap1 on the channel at some point. Maybe turbo lol
@@MaxSpeedMike Something about the 9k rpm redline makes it so much better to me. A turbo one would be amazing! Cant wait for your review on that one!
I can't wait either haha
Yeah man i love 9k rpm. Speaking of, I will get a gt3rs on here too. Maybe a gt3 manual too
I have a 2006 S2000 bought new and now has 39,000 miles bone stock. It will sell for a lot more money with no modifications.
Of course. Stock ones are sought out by many enthusiasts. Car market and the real estate market is high right now. Now is the time to sell, being a seller's market. I'd hold on to the 06 ap2 though. Sounds like you got an amazing car!
is it crazy to have s2k and cayman at the same time?
In my book? Absolutely not haha
No snap oversteer, first time hearing that.
AP2s are certainly more refined, thus getting rid of most of the snap oversteer issues. Someone else commented earlier, saying
"The ap2 is the better car
The ap1 is the better s2000"
If you own or have driven s2000s, you'll know that phrase is spot on
Overall, they're both great. Just depends on what you're looking in the car!
@@MaxSpeedMike yeah I've heard they made some changes to the ap2 to make it less prone to snap, I just assumed it was still pretty bad. Maybe I'll drive one-one day and see for myself.
@@emmanuelguerrero3751 you definitely should man. That'll give you the best idea. I always implore people to go out and drive cars for themselves
You're right about one thing - he will buy another one. Ask me how I know ..
Haha i have seen it so many times. Sometimes we don't realize what we have, or we under appreciate it. Glad you got your hands on another one! I can't wait to get one for myself. It will be a forever car.
Price sir
He's gotten rid of the car already. He traded it in and got a Cayman with a 6 speed manual! Will review that cat and have sam back on the channel again soon. The dealership gave him really good money for it. The market is absolutely insane right now
Hyperinflation put this car now to about 35k easy
In the states, a few years ago, a clean s2000 was about $15,000. Low mileage, mature owner, maintenance records, etc. If you want to find one like that now, it's gonna cost ya $25k minimum. Crazy. I don't see the value going down either. Think they'll only go up. They don't make anything like this car anymore with the exception of Porsche's GT cars.
A stock (2006 AP2) S2000 is boring. The suspension is tuned towards comfort. The exhaust is quiet. The engine has a torque dip before Vtec. The flywheel is too heavy. There are quite a few low miles, stock S2000's around because they are boring. This guy sold his because he got bored. Modify and drive your S2000. Don't save it for the next guy. Modify it, and drive it.
I agree with the modify and drive it, however I'll disagree with a stock s2000 not being fun enough. They definitely are. But yes, any good modification just makes it that much better. Sam sold that and his M2 and got a 718 cayman gts 6mt which we recently filmed. Video will be pit shortly!
I'd like to build an s2000 on the channel soon. One of my favorite cars to drive. I'd this one didn't do it for you, check put the supercharged ap2 I did a video with:
czcams.com/video/sDExwUi7pGM/video.html
Sorry but, I drive an S2K by the way, and a 12 year old S2k, regardless of miles,, is worth about $10K. Sorry to destroy your dreams everyone, but if anyone is looking for an S2K you can find them in good condition for $10K. I have found them. Do not overpay for an under torqued vehicle.
Not in this market. When prices correct, sure. Ap1s now will still go for $15k with 150k miles and mods. Some have a rebuilt title. Market is high right now for real estate and cars. Wait for it to correct.
If you find one for $10K it will be in terrible condition.
Yup. Especially right now with this crazy market. Engines for this car are not cheap.
Eh idk I got mine for 9.5k lol salvage title but had 74k original miles at the time back in 2020. Ap2 2006
