Thank you Sid Meier for consistently disrupting my social life, sleep and eating habits. I hope I can survive this one.
Here I am at almost 70, looking forward to VII.
Hell yeah, you old bastard

@@tuckman315 - lol. 70 isn't all that old. The closer you get to the scary numbers, the less scary they become. But truth be told I dread getting to 90 myself. My parents are 76 and 80, and I am a mere 57 rotations old.

One year left! Stay strong!
I’ve been playing Civilization since the very first in 1991. I cried during the opening of Civilization VI. I’m kinda worried if I’ll survive the release of this one… (can’t wait!! 😊)
The scene where we turn to the painter was genius! The designer’s who made this are more than artists themselves. The meaning of “what ever happens is on you” kind of feeling by implementing it was art is fantastical.
You will probably never see this, designers, but you are amazing for that❤️👌🏻

This is a game that's free from wokeness ... so far.
I'm 50 and in the same queue as you
It’ll probably be unfinished and filled with micro transactions
Only hoping that AI is tad better than 6 and has diplomacy remake.
This trailer goes so unbelievably hard. The transition from the painter to the boat to the train lives rent free in my head. Hell, I’m paying it to stay there
Civ intros allways makes me feel proud about being human. And that alone is huge in the current era.
The 7 turning into a Z transition was a genius move, you will never read this, designer, but I appreciate you for that

That transition from the age of exploration/sail, into the steam age, and the laborers literally constructing the transition into the modern day electrified city - and then the title at the end, I legitimately got emotional. This is why we play these games.

Can’t wait to spend another 2k hours of my life playing this with my brothers. Best times ever
I have been plying Civilization since Civ1 and have spent around 10,000 hours playing all the instalments since around 1994. No matter what else has happened, Civ has always been a world to escape the harsh realities of life into, a more constant element of my life than any job, family member, pet or friend. A small mercy in a cruel and indifferent world.
Glad to read this brother
what was your favourite? I started very late into civ 4, which I think I liked the most. But Civ 5 I played the most. Civ 6 I felt was less good than 5 but still I play 6 now as it is the current game I suppose.
I have played since the first civ and my favourite is the latest civ 6. That's probably because I only managed to win on the hardest difficulty with civ 6.
@@aidantuckwell9191I played 6 for a bit and then just went back to 5 personally. I don't think 6 is necessarily worse, but I don't enjoy the things it emphasized (namely districts were straight up not fun for me)
As someone who joined the series more recently, it's both heart-warming and fascinating to hear from people like yourself who've played Civ continuously since its earliest days.
Civ has already defined much of my free-time and become a personal comfort after merely playing it for one decade, and I'm envious to imagine how much more meaningful it would be after three decades!

Can human species come up with a balanced gameplay though? 😅
Can’t wait for France to get a random queen consort leader instead of Louis XIV
When we're constantly being reminded of the worst of humanity's legacy, it's so refreshing to be allowed to remember the other half and relish in it for a while, and few things do so as well as modern Civ trailers.
Oppressive pessimism will not help the world any more than blind optimism, it takes awareness and balance of both to achieve greatness.
I still remember the first time I came across Civilization. Opened a friend's laptop to get notes for exams the next day, I ended up spending all night playing Civilization V.
But God has helped me to this very day; so I stand here and testify to small and great alike. I am saying nothing beyond what the prophets and Moses said would happen- that the Messiah would suffer and, as the first to rise from the dead, would bring the message of light to his own people and to the Gentiles.
Acts 26:22-23
I remember deciding to take a couple of days off from high school in 1995 so I could play Civ1 on an Amiga 500. It's odd because nobody at the school ever asked for a sick note, I just went back to school after a couple of days and everything continued as usual. It was a government run school and nobody really cared though.
The only reason I did it was because I was on my own as a 14 year old. My mother was living in a different part of the county, my father hadn't been at home since I was a baby (divorce) and I was living with my "uncle" (not really my mother's brother) who was away for long hours each day commuting to work as computer programmer.
One day I just decided that school was boring (I have a relatively high IQ) and that I could take a couple of days off to play Civ with no ill effect. Turns out I was correct. Of course, my life would go even further off the rails once I got into my late teens, but I can't blame that on Civ at all, Civ gave me some peace and respite from the world.

In Civilization VII, please:
1. Make any resource (bonus, luxury, strategic) harvestable or removable from a tile, it is totally logical 🙏
2. Don't allow players to see all their oponents' yields only because they found their civilization, since gaining that information should be an espionage effort in any era, even if there is no a "formal spy". Not knowing your opponents' yields (unless you have managed to spy on them in some way) creates a more entertaining game, with players more alert to the uncertainty of what the others are doing, just as has happened since ancient times until today in the real world of competing civilizations. 🙏
What sort of wacky mod are you playing? You already can't see an opponent's yields unless you have constant visibility on their territory.
@@blam320 I think he means that being able to see the tile shouldn't reveal a luxury their.
@@CJonesFL That’s silly. If you survey a land and find apple trees there, you’re gonna write that down and remember “hey there’s a lot of apples here.” Same goes for any other luxury or bonus resource.

This trailer is a work of art.
Everyone who watched some behind the scenes things from gamestudios knows how infamous gamereveals and trailers are as they have to squeeze a ton of work into an already packed schedule to do so. From this point of view I somehow love the idea of how releaved that team must have felt when someone came up with this trailerconcept where they wouldn't even need animation or anything, just a static scenery. When I was ten, I played the original Civilization. When Civilization 7 comes out, I'll be 44, and I plan to play it for countless hours more. Until the release of Civ 8. I have no doubt that I will play this game series for the rest of my life.
Bot comment. Been seeing the same type of comments several times
Something I've always wanted in Civilization is a demo mode or mode where the game starts with autoplaying, recreating actual history in terms of settling cities in their actual locations, building wonders, engaging in wars etc. where and when they actually did it on the actual map, so that a student can learn history by observation. And that in this mode you can opt to take over as playing a Civilization at any point and this would create an alternate history timeline. I think it would necessitate that the civilizations swapped leaders frequently when a new leaders reign became active.
As much as I love this announcement, I can't not notice that every single new strategy game trailer looks the same. Everything static with camera flying while multiple people voiceovering it.
