  • Finally, film scores! One of the ultimate music-creation experience for sure, haha. Here's me writing to the airshow footage I uploaded recently and explaining my process! From session planning, tempo mapping, to writing to visuals and loudness requirements, this video shows everything I do in Pro Tools! This is all stuff I've learned from my personal experiences and in school, so I hope you enjoy and find it interesting!
If you have any questions, don't be shy to ask in the comments! I love to talk about film scores and music!
    Watch the full score here:

That was so fun! You’re a great narrator and I can’t get enough of the cartoon girlie. I really would have loved to hear some of the music inbetween the explaining and maybe zoom in a bit on the specific parts you wrote!
I saw you posted the full result as well, will check that out next!

this really feels like a sudden game changer for myself, especially considering i just used to playback pre-recorded music over a music free scene and enjoy the show (which feels shameless to say). if it wasn't that, it was just improvising piano/synth over a scene (being self-taught for 12 years). only a few times i've considered composing music for a visual media, but this makes it easier to set up a method i can follow.
    thanks

That's really fascinating how your process works, it's sort of what I'm hoping to whenever I write music, I also 100% believe that you can achieve your dreams of writing a track for a movie because you have some major talent that I haven't seen (or in this case "heard") before.
Personally, while I REALLY love music, I more focus on writing and visual arts, maybe even directing stuff. But the music I wanna make is more in tune to video games or intense Anime, like Jesper Kyd or Inon Zur, the guys who did the soundtracks of Fallout and Borderlands, even the people who wrote the theme for Apex Legends I admire despite not knowing their names, because it's such an iconic tune that fits the themes and is easily recognizable in any instrument. I'm not aiming for something like Mick Gordon or even Coda (The guy who wrote the song "Bloody Stream" Jojo's most iconic opening) but I still want it to be something that nails my creation in every aspect.
Also, have you ever seen the opening for Stardust Crusaders, [Stand Proud]? It's a perfect blend of cinematography, animation and music all blending together in a way that I really wish more movies, shows and games did.

      Thank you so much!!
Ah yes, now I have to go listen to more soundtracks, as you've listed some nostalgic bangers and some new stuff I have to check out lol.

Nice video! It's good to see behind the process of film score. Have you tried Cubase yet? I think it's good for composing with midi and user-friendly for film composer.

Wow, very informative, very interesting to see all the hard work that went into that, sounds like quite the experience!
My 1 a.m brain was able to learn quite a few things from this haha, so many queues that you had to work on, I understand that concept just enough to understand what a challenge that was! I'd say you did a pretty good job on the air show, and on that subject, it's aweasome that you got to write the score for that! I have a plane loving friend who'd be very entertained by the video, I should really share that video with him, will certainly do that!
Really excited to see what else you get involved with making scores for in the future!
And you did the audio for a game jam while waiting for protools to bounce files!? I'm genuinely amazed by that, I'm certain that they sounded great! You should probably ask the penguins to bring some ice because I'm sure your laptop was ever so slightly hot with everything running haha! Honestly, this reminds me that whenever I finish my course stuff and get to creating my own game stuff alongside having funds to spare, I'm certainly commissioning music from here without a doubt! One day!
I don't really have much to talk on this one because I can't think too much right now, so no novel this time haha, I did enjoy the video a lot though! These tutorial videos have been so genuinely fun to watch, I always watch it from start to end with my focus entirely on it! You're good at talking and grabbing the viewer's interest!
Nearly half of the year has flew by, hope your 2024 has been treating you well, cheers!
