  • Hey guys, hope you enjoy a different style of video today: My music making process! I recently thought it would be a cool idea to stream my writing sessions to show you all how it happens, this particular one being for my most recent upload "Lullaby to the Cavern."
(Note: I have no idea why I said it only took 45 mins when you can clearly see it's over an hour on the clock, lol. I should better clarify that it takes anywhere from 1-4 hours to produce a full piece, sometimes more if I'm scoring to a video. It all comes with practice!)
This video was super fun for me to make, so let me know if you want more like it, tutorials or any other questions! I'd be happy to answer!
Hope you guys enjoy, and thanks for much for listening!

"I'd pretend that I was the composer of that song."
God, why is this so relatable, lol.

Glad to hear I’m not the only one who copies and pastes lol. I always feel guilty because I feel like I’m not doing enough things that are original/new for a song.
This was an awesome video. I would love it if you would ever be willing to make a vid kind of going into mixing and mastering and stuff like that :D

This channel is a diamond in the rough. I do mainly edm and it's almost impossible for me to find a proper tutorial regarding music theory and songwriting :/

15:25 I can completely relate to that, whenever something I use a lot breaks, or I replace it I feel horrible, or when I have something and I don't use it I feel bad too, specially if it's like, bad quality like, I feel bad for it lol

The algorithm randomly recommended me this, and it was a joy to listen to! I’d definitely watch more if you made them

4:15, when you said about it being a lullaby for a volcano I instantly thought of "Lullaby of Deserted Hell" from Touhou 11, which is kind of medieval folk music, so I went to listen it and tried your approach of making a music video in your head, after listening and making up a little story I came back to the video, and heard you talk about medieval touhou music lol
btw just discovered your channel and of what I've seen your videos are really good, keep up with the great content

YESSSS TOUHOU!! Lullaby of a Desserted Hell was my exact inspiration for this track! Probably obvious if you listen to my composition alongside it, aha!

I was always curious about how you create your songs. The process looks awesome! And kinda difficult-
This video was certainly a change in what you usually upload. I like it! Also your voice is like perfect for these types of videos. Would love to listen to more of you talking about creating songs and all :3

Yeah, producing probably looks a bit scary to those who have never seen it before. Trust me, I had to start somewhere too, haha.
Also, thank you very much! I'm glad you enjoyed my commentary 😊 Had no idea how it would be received.

Why everytime I forget to log into my account I for a period of time I miss such cool thing like these
I gave it a watch and I had a lot of opnions on the stuff you talked about, so I felt like putting them here in a comment, sorry ahead of the time that it's a bit longer than usual, but the video is also longer than usual so I think it fits haha! Grab a chair and a penguin so it can help with reading this mountain of text!
Woah, I'm surprised, and excited, I always believed you had a very good energy and style for videos like these! I really enjoyed listening to your explanation of your musical writing process and the general things you talked about! Very cool to watch you writing it in the background too, I tried downloading an ableton free trial once because I felt a bit inspired, but I couldn't really do much with it as it was a bit too overwhelming for me haha, alongside getting distracted
Turning off the brain to produce stuff is very much a mood, whenever I draw my things I generally just start doing random lines until they create a general shape, then I put a layer over it and begin drawing what resulted, while that also happens due to my general lack of creativity sometimes, it's a good way for me to not worry about it and it ends up looking nice!
I can certainly feel the reverb in most of your uploads! It always does give the feeling of space, not much for me to comment on it haha, just sounds very cool!
Using those headphones for such a large ammount of time, it makes sense to be attached to them, I have used mine for a while too, but mostly because they had good sound quality/price, not structural though, the poor things are being held together by duct tape haha! I did get attached to my microphone though, was sad when my microphone arm fell and broke the poor thing with it, have a new one, but rest in peace microphone #1, my first quality microphone.
The power of tamborine #4, I could imagine you had a few favourite sounds, can understand the tamborine, it always sounds nice! I think in any area people are bound to have a favourite tool/resource/thing they use, for me it happens with the brushes I use on my drawings, I only use a particular narrow/thin one because it helps makes good curves very easily and generally looks nicer like that! (Alongside being one of the few brushes I still have available in my copy of Adobe Fresco haha.)
It's really interesting to see the organization and mixing processes, you explain it very well, honestly everything in this video was pretty easy to understand with the way you explained it, I think I learned a few things with this!
Keeping things simple help a lot! I used to try to put a lot of extra unecessary time on my projects be it drawing, GDD writing, documents, general things or whatnot, usually I ended up exagerating and losing the original view of it for the sake of just putting stuff onto it, alongside the feeling that you mentioned of feeling like I haven't done enough if I completed it too quickly for my liking, but ever since I noticed my friends saying that my drawings and everything else looked nice as it was, I decided that I'd trust my friends rather than my doubts and only put the necessary post-work onto it, it has been working well so far!
And the end, I really enjoyed this video, as I mentioned in the beginning you have very good talent for this, OBS is easier than one might think, I think that goes for anything, sometimes we think things are gonna be difficult, but we never know unless we try and even if it is, that's where practice comes in! You've done an aweasome job on this one, I enjoyed watching everything and seeing the extra drawings and animations you drew for yourself for some parts of the video, everything combined managed to get my atention on the video for a full 24 minutes, which is hard, usually I'd end up doing something in the background while listening, but this managed to catch my atention! There should be an award like a "Got bus's (me!) full atention for more than 5 minutes!" Award, I might've missed a few points in my comment but I think I covered enough as it is haha.
Great job with the video! Glad you had fun making it! You've also managed to inspire me to finish my obs stuff I never finished editing and threw into WIP limbo, alongside a few ideas I never got out, didn't ever have the motivation to start uploading stuff, so I'm gonna be looking into that for the night, well, at least for the next 1 hour before my body decides that sleep is necessary haha! I really enjoyed this type of content, and I would love to see more, wether they are talking about music, drawings, other stuff, anything would be aweasome, within your own time of course! We all apreciate the effort you put into everything here!
