- IN THIS VIDEO, I NEED TO DO SOME MORE REPAIRS. IT BLEW A HYDRAULIC LINE WHEN I HAD FINISHED LOADING A TRUCK THAT I HAD BOUGHT. I ORDERED A REPLACEMENT TIRE FOR THE ONE THAT HAD CORDS SHOWING. THEN I ORDERED SOME EXHAUST PARTS TO QUIET THIS THING DOWN A BIT. SOME NEW PARTS SOME OLD. THIS IS HOW I TRY TO KEEP THE COSTS DOWN.

That’s why I always leave something “broke” because soon as I fix everything, something breaks then 😂😭
Gotta love those international kingpins. My brand new 4300 wasnt quite a year old and it was already in need of kingpins with only 57,000 miles on it. It was eating the new Michelin tires off of it as fast as we would put em on it. So we sent it into the shop under warranty and they said that year the steel.they made the kingpins out of was defective so they had to replace every one they made in 2003.
Quiet is the way to go. Keep on trucking J.C.
Keep them trucks rolling JC 👍.
Wow! I’m still amazed at all the stuff you deal with living up in the rust belt. I could never do it. Love living in south
Always enjoy your new Video's brother, just wanna say hello from the foothills of Mt Rainer, once again buddy. I've been watching your old videos all week, awaiting your new one. Blessings to you and the Mrs 👋
hope you find something you enjoy!
Another great video MR AND MRS JR SMITH.
Very clear filming good audio
from the Nederland thanks for the video JC .
Hello J.C. I bought some nice drain pans from tractor supply... they're actually rubber feed tubs..heavy duty rubber..won't crack like plastic ones..they have 3 sizes available..I bought a couple of the large ones...same shape and design as yours..I've had them a few years now and still in perfect condition . It's time to replace my rubber mats I lay on...I think I'll try out their rubber stall mats next .
The other thing I swear by...is a thread sealant by Hercules..called Grrip-Rite pipe joint and gasket seal..2 R's in grip..not a typo lol..it's normally found in plumbing stores . I've used this for almost 20 years now... primarily on hydraulic hoses...but on air fitting connections as well..the one I used is a tan color sealant..I forget the number on the can . This stuff is phenomenal... you'll throw away your Teflon sealant once you use this stuff...just don't get it on your clothes...it won't wash out in the wash..plan on brake cleaner for your jeans lol
I like loud turbos as much as the next guy, but I agree, If I had a truck that was strictly made for work and long drives I’d want it quiet in the cab too. By the way, great idea with the wash tubs for oil changes. That would be perfect for doin oil changes on my truck. Take care J.C.👍
Always something on older stuff--you go to fix one thing--have to fix three other things also..
Nice job with the repairs! 🙂👍 Hopefully you can find a piece of exhaust pipe in your parts stash. 🔧🔩
I can understand the problems with living in a state were they salt like it’s free but you made it look easy. And those levers are definitely worn out wait until you get a new model flat bed were there made out of plastic
I used to like loud and fast but I’m 50 now. Quiet and slower is how I like now. Funny how age changes u. Great video
Good old truck, fix all the worn out pieces and parts it will be a good truck. 👍
Hi from uk 👋👍 keep on earning to keep the wheels turning👌 good job on exhaust I can remember you saying it gave you the urge to drive faster like a biy racer being loud😂😂 or was it more I quite like it but it needs sorting👍 and that tyre am.pleased you getting new one change especially carrying your loads as a steer blowout would be nasty with a load on 😱 but at leadt uou know its few things checked of the truck👌 thanks for your time and be safe see you soon 👍👋
as long as i am making progress...i am happy.
I agree a dump out exhaust that’s straight pipe is super loud and obnoxious. but I do like to hear the sound of the engine and the turbo whistle. if that was my truck I probably would’ve had to put a stack on it lol
no room for a stack.
Jc your always fixing something part of the business it’s all worth it in the end your finished projects are rarely if ever with shortcuts will always come back to haunt you in the end👍
I believe Buyers has those handles.I think Isaw them in their catalog you and the Mrs keep up the great work
i did see that they had them. i wasnt sure if they were the same but i am willing to try them.
@@j.c.smithprojects good luck any thing I can help with give a shout I my self have been doing this for 40 something years
i use the same type of tubs but they are kitty liter ones about 3 gallons
Wassup JC
Hey j c you forgot the high performance exhaust hangers
Sometimes I used cat litter boxes for a drain pans.
When I have an obnoxious customer I leave the cat turds in to show the customer that they had a CATastrophic failure.
😎👍
Hava a question I wanna to make a 19 foot rollback and my question is if I have to stretch my truck frame
Just fix a little here and a little there and pretty soon it’s not a bad machine, well that is if you had something decent to start with lol 😆
it runs and drives very well. if it had not, i wouldnt waste the time or money. i really like this truck.
I have a 05 4300 rollback and it has 1 fuel tank on the passenger side I want dual tanks how would you recommend me doing it
Almost every part you can think of is on back order. It's getting frustrating, these companies need to start cranking parts out again now that covid slowed down.
For hose cover we have used old fire hose as a jacket
i am looking for some old fire hose. i want to us it to protect the lines when it tilts.
@@j.c.smithprojects try your local fire house .Hose has to be retired after so many hours of use or if it is damaged
I worked for a county run shop a long time ago, and we would use it on the lines for the skid steer
Seen there was also a nice late mode ford reg cab on the rollback also… hmmmmm…. I bet that’s for the 7.3
good rust free f550 with a 6.0 that lost compression on a couple cylinders. parts truck or???
@@j.c.smithprojects hmmmm. Not being a 6.oh fan, put the cab on the 7.3 and make one great truck that suits your run-around truck needs. Put the 7.3 cab on the 6.0 frame, flip a running 6.0 in it, and make some $$$ on it
JC have you ever looked at a inspection pit? Since I got my first dump truck I've wanted one. Some people think they are a hazard. What are your thoughts.
i love a pit. have to be mindful of explosive / flammable liquids and gasses.
Any update on project overkill? The Ford one you were adding air ride ?
it is in the shop waiting its turn.
What plasma tables are you looking at? I am looking at them also
i am still looking.
Just weld them up and drill new holes
stainless steel chafing trays for drain pans
that is a great idea! they are deep and strong/ i will look for some used ones.
Is that blue 4300 for sale that's the exact truck I need to replace my worn out 4300 good trucks if you take care of them
it could be sold....i have a couple other rollbacks i would like to build. that would force them up on the priority list.
I know the prices of used trucks are crazy right now we are trying to figure out if it would be more cost affective to replace the cab and engine on my truck or just buy another one
Outcome on scammed truck?
video to come soon.
How do price jobs when you do them for the public
i dont do work for the public. the average person doesnt want to pay for quality. they want the quality job....just dont want to pony up the cash for it. .
When are you gonna make a Semi-rat outta that old 50's truck you got a hold of a while back?
this fall hopefully
Yesss!
Why not bushing the handles drill out put
A tube inside that hole and now just replace that bushing
You sound a little sick there pal 😅
i was just tired. we have been going pretty hard ever since the weather changed.
@@j.c.smithprojects Good to hear. Love your videos! I always learn something when I watch them!
Drill/ream those valve pins out to the next largest size, put a stainless bushing inside and re-pin them to the handles or replace the handles.
im short on time these days. i will have to put it on the "want to do" list it works for now so it isnt on the "have to do" list yet.
