Mrs. J.C. Smith you can place a coat on the winch line. If the line were to snap it will defect the line to the ground faster. Just an old off road tip. There a place that make bag to saddle the line. I think the bag is filled with sand.

As far as what your wife (sorry I forget her name) said about the cable goes. I was taught to always assume that the cable is about to break off from my dad and grandpa. Both of them were injured by a cable/winch and were lucky. I forget what happened to my grandpa, but my dad nearly lost his foot when the swage let loose on a brand new cable. They replaced it that morning because they were afraid that the old one was going to hurt someone. They had been moving drill pipe all morning and it was almost lunch time when it popped dropping the section of drill pipe on his foot. Luckily for him he was able to get out of the way even though it had hit his foot and once again he was lucky to only lose a part of his big toe. Another lucky break was the steel toe was smashed in and helped control the bleeding enough for him to drive an hour to the hospital 😲 Anyway it's nice to be back where I have internet, although I have to say that I was better off not knowing what was going on. I almost wish that the salvage job I was on wasn't over...... almost
That should be a good frame for the 1965 International cab. Looks to be in good shape. I like your steering wheel for the chassis you were loading. I have done that before. Now that you've started using the big rollback I doubt you'll want to sell, unless someone has enough money.
happens often....a high percentage of the trucks i buy have running issues that the owners didnt want to repair due to cost. they are very profitable for me.
Towing trick- put a block of wood in front of the tire that you want to turn. If it is still resistant to turning just rock it against the block and it will come around.
Will you ever make yourself a hobby truck....like a 1950's cab over a newer frame etc? Or is there a time and place for everything and now isn't the time yet?
she is always cautious. i always tell her to put herself under the bed when she is operating the winch for me. she doesnt understand the difference in the sounds from the winch and cable....better safe than sorry.
Man that big roll back is awesome! What makes it too expensive to keep? Just the upkeep on a rig like that? Really sad that the dealer was trying to sell the previous owner such an expensive repair if it wasn't needed. What ended up being the cause of de-rate mode? Great video!
the amount i paid for it and the amount i will use it just doesnt cost effective. i will go into details of the repair once i am convinced it is fixed for sure. i have not had any troubles so far but i want to be positive its fixed.

Warn manufacturer those saddles. It’s a must when winching in off road, specially with steal cables.
It is amazing to watch all the tricks you know. Turning the wheels with a pipe was simple and smart.

Pipe while rolling is smart. Short chain with shackle could direct winch cable to steer .

20,000lb front 46,000 lbs rears 14,000lbs lift axle......i doubt i would ever get close to that. plus the bridge laws kick in.

Mrs jc. The winch aint under a hard load unless the cable is in terrible shape it shouldnt brake
