He deserves every bit of it! I'm the same age as Stevie Wonder, I grew up with him and his great music since we were 12. No one could do what he could do, always innovating and out in front. Some of you younger folks might not know that Stevie was born blind, making his accomplishments even more fantastic! Along comes Jacob who picks up where Stevie left off, which is saying a LOT! It takes sheer brilliance to redo a classic old hit and make it even better! go Jacob, we love you!

6 years later, an observation: the number of people who complain that his arrangements are "too busy" or "too much" are dwindling. Like any consummate genius whose work shatters all existing precedent, there is initial backlash because people aren't ready for one individual to catapult a discipline so far forward so quickly. But eventually as he continues to produce, people begin to accept it because all of a sudden he has made it real and possible. 2020. Only discovered Jacob a few months ago. I've had to wire my jaw shut whilst listening to his arrangements. I read with interest here the opposing views of 'genius' and 'too busy', and also the lack of original writing. All very valid points, for now.
However, in my 50 years listening to music I've seen many artists grow across their careers to a point where they achieve this level of technical ability.....afters literally decades of experience.
I would just like to remind everyone that this gentleman was producing music to this standard when he was just 19...
    19.

To me, having your work taken and reinterpreted so wonderfully should be considered s tremendous compliment. It's a statement that what you created was so good it had huge untapped potential for further creativity.

Usually when someone does a cover, it's NOT as good (and - why????), but this guy has taken "Don't You Worry 'Bout a Thing" to another level. This dude is the REAL. DEAL. Yes, there is some enhanced bass/coupling, but this guy IS doing everything else. He can't do all this LIVE, but I can EASILY believe he can gig with anyone on practically any instrument. AND...... it doesn't at all sound robotic; there is lucidity and -it's FUN. I'm a musician, too, and whereas I've turned a couple shades of green, I'm NOT a hater, and respect the hell out of Jacob. EXcellent job.

I know huh! He uses the technology for timbre and color to enhance the music. On his IHarmU series he only pitch corrected a few notes and only on the submitted videos where there was some note flat or sharp that did not make the chord have it sing. Probably a 4 octave range from what I can hear but its the same with Bobby McFerrin who is one of his musical heroes!

He not only has oodles of soul, grooves, sings perfectly in tune, arranged all that with some dazzlingly close harmonies and surprising modulations in there, plays a dozen instruments, but - oh yeah - he just invented a whole new art form! I know people have been overdubbing for a while, but this takes it to an insane level, even for youtube.
Here is a list of less talented people whose feet you could put back on the ground before his: Justin Bieber. Kylie Minogue. Robbie Williams. Sting. The Rolling Stones (yes, I said it). Because it's not sugar coated, because it has some complexity, this man's music won't probably reach the mass audience they have - so if a pedestal helps him, give him a pedestal.

I can't imagine my life without this song cover. I've come back to it probably over a hundred times through 9 years and just can't stop listening. It's an absolute burst of positive energy, kindness, happiness, and beauty. A true celebration of all things beautiful. Huge thanks for this rendition. It's rare for a cover to surpass the original in some way, but in my personal opinion, I absolutely adore this track and love it with all my heart.

I'm so glad he picked complexity and class, not pop! He could kill pop in one day, but he chose to go deep and I'm glad he did. He deserves all credit.
