By saving the old bearing race you have the perfect size adapter to push the new one in with!
👍🇬🇧
That expanding trumpet/bugle thingy is a piece of brilliance.
Yeah, with I had seen these years ago!
Thank you! I did not have any idea how this tood works and what it is for!
Glad it was helpful!
Glad you got the puller!
Worked out nice!
Good piece of kit. The expanding bit reminded me of the 'here is a box, a musical box, wound up and ready to play'
Lol! One of those handy kits you only need once or twice! Still, the price was right...
As Graham Kennedy used to say “Peter the perfect puller!”
That’s a pretty slick tool, but damn that bearing did not want to budge
Just a hair of heat on the outside .oh yes sir 🍺🍺
It's always worth a try ,🍺🍺
I've a smaller version of that kit, excellent for spigot bushes in the tdi.
That’s a good bit of kit
Rubber bands or tape on the legs to keep them in place.
One or two good hard taps on the top of the bolt to give it a shock. Helps break the tension.
ive had one of those for two years. paid for itself twice over. the threaded pieces are ideal for pulling out old style bmw rocker shafts out of the head.
Good to know! Wish I had known about these years ago!
Great, thanks!
You're welcome!
Hoping this will work with the angle gear on my Volvo S60R as well!
Ingenious
I always use a Kukko puller and a more massiv plug to get the race out of the input shaft. But sometimes I have to put the sliding rod into the vice, as shown at the manual, to get it out. The original doesn't work, because the expending screw inables to take care of its produced for.
And are they affordable for home use?
Does the slide hammer attach to the top of the 'legs' bit? It would be handy to be able to crack it with the legs and then whack it out using the slide hammer.
No idea - I will look and get back to you

Great tool, but when you tightened the expanding trumpet - should you not of backed it off a few turns so it does not interfere with the shaft wall ?
Possibly - but there is not much 'meat' to work with on such a small bearing
That was my thought too, but it depends on the Bush/bearing and how close the puller is to the bore size,
is there a bigger one to pull wheel bearing races? I've used hammer and chisel in the past but the puller is more controlled so less likely to damage the hub?
Maybe - this is 58 mm max
🐨another great one m8
☺ 💂
Makes me wonder if it could be used to remove wheel bearing race
Only goes to 58 mm
@@BritannicaRestorations damn, would of raced out to get one....no pun intended
Lol!
I bought one of these sets, the thing just folded in on itself and pulled straight through the bushing :(

@BritannicaRestorations Thank You...🤟🏼
I had to return mine cause I didn`t have a 16 milimeters wrench for it.
I had one, 16 but was in pilimeters , so was useless.
16 mm = 5/8
There's no way a slide hammer would take out that bearing...
Would heat make any difference.?
Maybe, but not too much!
Caterpillar use 16mm on their M10 bolts/nuts.
Maybe a heavier hammer would be better not sure they stand up to a stubborn bearing race.
Maybe - but they are a tight bearing
