I remember it took him ~11 months for History of the World. He was still active on his questions page on his website until 7/27. I don’t know what happened after then. Hope you’re doing alright, Bill. The last question that was answered had an especially sad tone to it.

Recently Bill did an interview in which he was asked where he had been for all those months.
His responce was that he was experimenting with a new work method. Instead of being pressured by his schedule, trying to get all the song and animations done at the same time for the release, he would choose a set of ideas to work with and do it step by step.
Vocals, drums, animations, 3D modeling, keyboards would all be done separately. He said he's curriently working on fifteen projects at the same time. His interested diverged a little from the more usual songs he's been doing for so long, so I have no idea what to expect when he comes back.
But what we can all be sure is that he'll be back with a lot to show, it also might not take that long, he said he's made a lot of progress. Maybe we will see new uploads from him in a couple months... I don't wanna get the hopes way too high, but surely this will be a shorter break than the last one, at least.

In 2007 I was 3 years old, and although during the summer it just happened to be a really shitty time for you, I think that was one of the last times I experienced uninterrupted, undisturbed happiness. Because at 4, my parents split, pretty sure my dad got into a huge accident that almost killed him, and when I turned 5 my grandma died. My birthday is my grandma’s death day. And I could go on and on and on. 2016 for me was your 2007. Although what you do is to far into the creative line for me, I’ve done many things in the creative worlds, such as poetry, short stories, photography, tie-dye, and many many media’s of drawing. Anyways, a poem I think would have fit for your 2007, and fits my 2016.
Art is for the over thinkers
I think those of us who’ve held this type of hurt in our hearts
Can somehow find it within us a beauty that not all can create
And until you’ve experienced this special place of hurt, you can find that special creation within
To then build something from all this pain that’s collected

fun fact: in the final draft of the script for this video, after the person says the line "hey, phone, how do i pull myself out of a ha- uh, a barren waste land?" the phone had the line, 'have you tried going on the internet'? but bill crossed it out
another fun fact(s): the video that was originally supposed to be released after this is somewhere between a song and a video (basically a musical). he began working on it in december 2022 and mostly finished it then, although he missed quite a few intended release dates. it is set in a wild basin. there are ten characters. they play instruments and dance, and the choreography is intense. its title is four words long. of his four previous videos, it's most similar to this one (but not very similar) and least similar to his two-character skits. in some ways it's slightly crazier than usual; in some ways, less crazy. it's shorter than most of his 2022 videos. it's not scrapped, but it probably won't be the very next video.
one more fun fact: the video that bill ultimately decides to release next, and he has 12* to choose from, will be anywhere between 1 and 12 minutes long
*he had stated before on a podcast that he was working on 15. he later said on his website's q&a page that he only had 11 and that he miscounted

It was very surprising to see that the guy who made "history of the entire world I guess" had just come back from a multi-year long hiatus, but it was really nice. "here comes the sun" was great, and once you started to post new songs consistently, me and my brother would wait for your next one. On the days that you released a new song, we'd watch it together, and then I'd listen to it again and again on my ever-growing playlist. I hope you come back one day, and it better be as good as your surprise 3D animation skills when you reappeared years ago. Thank you for all the good songs.
