Death Knight is just depressing, and it was like this:
-Refines announced, Death Knight is there.
-Everyone is hoping his refine is at least better than the Arcane Qiang.
-It wasn't.
I remembered when L!Ryoma remix was so good but like a month or 2 later, nobody was using him.
That reminds me of how Laegjarn's refine was in that same boat.
I couldn't use it, so I experimented for all these years.
Now, I'm back on her main weapon, not because it was good, but because of new skills allowing it to work enough in this meta.
I was so excited for base Charlotte to get into the game and was thrilled that she came with a prf. Then not long after, we get Scion Larcei, who has waaaaayyy better weapon effects and comes with Regnal Astra. Like, really, IS, y’all couldn’t resist doing Charlotte like that, could ya?
I still use her both out of spite and me not getting Scion Larcei :(
I think we are at a point where skills can carry a unit to viability. A generic infantry mage has so much going for them with finish, magic nfu or spiral 4 and oath 4 or times pulse 4
I've learned that Arcane + Spiral 4 + TP4 is overkill on many units because Ruptured Sky is still better than many 3 cooldown options.
Shoutout to B!Tiki who got outclassed by A!Tiki in like a month
They should have made Brave Tiki an armor since slow units that aren't armors generally suffer way too much
That alone is proof that IS just doesn't want Adult Tiki having the spotlight instead of her younger self.

I'm a death knight fan and I was like "Wow a refine! I'll just wait for the inevitable lance arcane first so I can see if I need to spend the dew!" Needless to say I did not need to spend the dew...
A!Fjorm aged extremely quickly as well. She only had 4 months of relevancy until Duo Chrom dropped and then IS kept releasing nukes that either outright oneshots her or cheeses her with Desperation effects. It also doesn’t help that she doesn’t get any stats from her weapon.
The only thing she has at this point is being the only armored unit with NCD but the moment it becomes a status effect or another armored unit gets it is when her coffin is sealed shut.
I'd say that of almost all ascended tho
Rearmed is just the same concept but objectively better and usually with better kits
As someone who kept using her until literally July, when Summer Fjorm came out, I must disagree. Her Null-C Disrupt, high speed, and Ice Mirror still set her apart from other Far Saviors, and with support and mythic buffs, she could comfortably take on most ranged nukes, including Duo Chrom. It was touch and go, but still, I think many people gave up on her far too soon. Honestly, can't wait for even a half-decent refine to put her back on the map. Or Hardy Fighter 4.
@@Sigismund697re-armed units can have some relatively weak weapons though. Like most of their contemporaries have better prfs weapons it’s only the re-arms that have particular good niches or prf skills that really shine as units themselves. While ascended units sometimes have weapons and prfs that are much more stacked.
Like yeah arcane weapons are good, but they’re not better than a lot of normal Prf weapons.
@@samkeiser9776 I was talking more about how Rearmed can be recycled, allow you to pimp your favourites and still accomplish giving a cool new alt to some units
now we have attuned and emblem heroes which I still don't really care about and it feels like IS coming up with unnecessary unit types when Rearmed are still way better conceptually, should have focused on them and improve them

Bro, Eliwood having high res as a melee unit makes him stand out in a sea of other units. I run Def/Res Ploy 3 with Arcane Devourer and Flared Sparrow. Its real funny to see him as the premier unit for this build. Some fliers can run the same build, but for a cav its funny that I use him everywhere and succeeds now.
I'll try this out as soon as I get the fodder for it, thanks for the info.
@@alkaid5121 Yeah, none of the other sword cavs, even 5 stars come close to the stat allocation required for a tech build like this. I had to justify somehow why I use spd and res boons on him, instead of atk, this is one of those cases.

Shout out to the armor dagger units, out of a 1000 units in the game there are only 5 armor dagger units and 4 of them have bad stat lines with the only 1 of them having an optimized stat line that unit being Halloween Kagero and the only one with a PRF weapon being Picnic Flora.
I think saves changed the way armors played forever but I think my biggest gripe is that because Far Saves were available to Melee Armors as well, Ranged Armors, specifically the mages fell out of fashion almost instantly. They still try to introduced ranged far saves like V!F!Robin and V!Takumi but most people would rather just run a melee save armor with Hardy Fighter and DC.
If they ever make Save 4s, I hope to god Far Saves are lock to Ranged Units.
Finish / close call builds are the new fury / desperation
The Flight skills (outside of the tier 4) we’re doomed from the start. IS was so horrified of making flying units good that they butchered what potentially could’ve been a fun line of B skills.
I'll remember how I was coping for Wyvern 4 to be amazing, but if it lacks DR, then I'm just better off using Bearing 4, or Gambit even. I'll wait and see though.
I think Elimine’s role was grossly exaggerated. The easiest way to counter her was to just run a bunch of units with start of turn effects (which is really easy) and thus force Elimine users to have to pick which one they don’t want to deal with the most. IE, would they rather shut down Catria, Duma, or Duo Askr?
Freyr by comparison is grossly overturned because if you have him there’s literally nothing the enemy team can do against yours except…I dunno, I think Seidr’s gimmick still works? Just about everything else doesn’t though.
Like, at least when Elimine was the dominant Astra mythic you only had to worry about Catria balls on Dark season.
Catria Ball on dark season. Uh, my +10 Catria with +res and Phantom Res 3 seal, plus Mirabilis giving +5 res, stopped Elimine from doing jack shit to her. In fact, that team has been my anima team since she released and it has done nothing but rack up Ws on defense XD so Elimine can fuck off XD my Catria doesn't know what an Elimine is XD
I genuinely heard of people using multiple Elimines to counter those double Quad Balls, but I ultimately never saw them myself.
And yeah, Freyr can technically lose his turn to Seior, but I'm sure most people keep their dancers close by even if that happens.

Even with multiple Elemine teams being a thing I agree, I prefer Elemine meta over Freyr every day he is so dam annoying and outright bs.

Yeah I don't know what they would even do to save her. She's green and has too low speed to do anything against NFU, unlike her Ascended counterpart. Plus New Divinity is a B slot skill, which doesn't help either. Ngl she's probably screwed regardless of her refine, and I say that as someone who has a +10 B!Tiki lol
@@Mark-xk3hh I've though about this a lot, the refine I want her to get is Res based true DR, extra damage based on damage reduced from her DR, and DR pricing specials, also maybe NCD if they are generous. Basically focus on surviving one hit then retaliating with an unavoidable DR pricing glimmer boosted by the damage she reduced. This would make her really tough to deal with if you have no way to beat her Res. She still can't use save skills though and you can just kill her allies first to turn off her Prf. Having DR pricing would make her better in a number of match ups compared to Bride and give her a much stronger player phase. However, it wouldn't make her objectively better than Bride who would still be more durable. I say this as someone who has both at +10.

Even though he isnt as good as he once was, I still actively use OG sigurd and always try to get the newest skills for him. At least he got a resplendant not too long ago

my favorite example of this is Inf. Null Follow being immediately out classed by the next banner's introduction of Inf. Spd Tactic. Not only does Tactic also grant infantry units Null Follow, but it also grants Spd +6 to both infantry and fliers.
Nah, Inf. Speed Tactic is kind of annoying for team comp, so I actually prefer Inf. Null Follow-up.

I never knew how to properly use Tactic skills, so I just hardly, if ever used them. Even with I use Inf Spd Tactic, I don't really think about it, and it just usually works.
Inf NFU maybe be easier to use, but that restriction to Infantry only kinda kept me away from it.
@@ChikuTenebresRattus I feel Infantry NFU never has the chance of becoming a dead C-slot, and the +6 Speed boost from Tactic is pretty redundant, if I must be honest. Never have been a fan of the skill, personally.
@@MrGksarathy Oh, no disagreements there. The only unit I really want Inf Spd Tactic for is Citrinne support, but I may just use Inf NFU, cause I got plenty of Sedall, and my Anima team would appreciate it.

Yes fallen Ike came out directly before her. But Kris also came out directly after her, which again, blowed her out of the water in terms of usefulness. Even without a DC weapon

If I need her for arena score because she's bonus, I have to run Sieglinde instead of Arcane Devourer and that's cringe
It would have been cool, but realistically didn't last too long it seems of evolutionary refines. One that came to mind for me ages ago was Marth, as I quickly made base Marth a +10, and that refine being supportive was fine and neat for its time, but saddening at the same time compared to unrefined exalted or genesis falchion.
Don’t forget honorable mention to: harsh command+. I know harsh command wasn’t a great skill that didn’t get much usage but then we got bride Tanith that introduced the skill into the game, potentially bringing light to this forgotten skill in a new way. And then immediately on the EXACT same banner, we got bridal Fjorm, who introduced isolation to the game, which blocks all assist type skills such as the new harsh command+
Everyone knows that the REAL reason to run B!Roy over his father is because he has better art. He can take away our merges, but he can't take away our Wada Sachiko special art...!
Diamant is an anti-meta unit pretending to be an omni-tank. I do think him not needing a special to cut through DR% is a very good quality and makes him more dangerous to DR% reliant units, where Robin does need to get a special off to deal with them, Lucia gets bodied by Diamant, but he’s just not a real tank except defense wise.
In my personal opinion as someone who owns Diamant is that despite him being able to do all that, he goes down far to easily to pretty much everything else. Like needing +20 speed to outspeed him isn't even that hard. Some of my units at base have like 56 already, and my Diamant is +Speed and it caps at 40. Lucia and Robin have tons of tools and speed to circumvent them being nuked by everything, they both insanely fast so they have far easier matchups, and in Lucia's case for example I've encounter Lucia's who were so fast they would not only endure my Legendary Shez's Brave hits, but she would counter attack and double her killing her. Diamant kinda just... dies... to anything ranged. Not even just mages because people have attacked my Aether Keep with +10 Diamants and even my Legendary Shez, was able to one round him. I also had the problem with him myself, as I have him Lucia, and Brave Robin, and I flat out stopped using him because that 20% damage reduction does borderline nothing to all these speedy ranged units, where as I can safely plop Robin in the center of combat and him retaliating with Bonfire almost always gets the kill. That's just from my experience though

@@zimzam900 ehh that’s fair, I tested the story map diamant (I don’t actually have him lol) and he got one shot by L;Shez and 2 shot by F;S;Shez, though F;S;Shez wasn’t fast enough to get effective dmg vs him. It seems like anything that hits him twice or just has enough extra damage just folds him. I still think he has a few notable strengths, but not enough that he warrants being fielded if he’s so frail that he can’t even take 2 hits from a S;Shez without effectiveness.
At least L;Nanna can run spd smoke or gambit 4 if you want to be spicy, or just not care about her survivability and have auto desperation+20% extra atk and she has higher movement and stops defensive procs.
Maybe if someone ever got a consistent GLR diamant build he’s be epic, but I don’t think that’ll ever happen.

@@samkeiser9776 GLR Only works on him on PP or if you run ATK/Spd Pledge. he won't get the 10HP healing since GLR isn't an offensive special BUT since it's a special skill, you can stack his True DR with it.
As weird as it sounds, Spurn 4 could possibly be a good B-Slot option just for the Phantom Spd effect and the Spd/Def debuffs. (the +5 Damage is the icing on the cake) Atk/Spd Finish 4 combos with GLR and provides healing per hit so in the event GLR is ready, that's at least 31 unmitigated true dmg per hit.

im sad that Diamant got outshined so quickly. I have him at +6 and all he really struggles with is hard hitting blue units, more specifically blue mages. I still think he's one of the best sword infantrys we have, regardless if BMRobin outshines him
He's arguably the strongest physical tankbuster in the game imo, especially considering how much of the meta relies in both dmg reduction and outspending the opponent, the fact that he gets rid of the former and makes the latter significantly more difficult to achieve, even if he's not good at tanking he makes it up by pretty much making sure that whatever he fights against does not lives.
that's why Shado mentioned that he wasn't a bad unit but on a game all about efficiency it becomes a matter of numbers and numbers didn't bless him

Poor poor Soren. I mean base, brave kills everyone, but for years all base Soren had nothing, and we still don't have an arcane green tome. He had the unfortunate combo of being an early unit and getting an early refine. Right now mine's holding snowglobe for unity stacking which is funny, but I just want a green arcane tome. Why do we have multiple swords, spears and bows and not one green tome?
I wonder why you compared Brave Eliwood to Brave Eirika, Brave Eliwood is a Mixed-Phase Cav (leaning more towards Enemy-Phase) while Brave Eirika is a Player-Phase Cav, it's like comparing Oranges to Tomatoes, like, sure, both are fruits, but they're not used the same way.
As someone who stopped playing when the brave Eirika, Marth and others came out, I have great fears about her being powercrept by B!Chrom

I was so happy with Scion Julia being a thing, because it was maybe the first Julia alt that wasn't a leg or a fallen, just a fun, cute thing for her, and also being maybe the first good inheritable red tome, and then Costance came out litterally the next banner with canto, a base rein when Julia didn't even have a C skill, prf tome, and harsh command+, completely outclassing her, IS just couldn't resist
And I refused to get B Robin because I litterally dropped money on Diamant (it was maybe 10 bucks, but I still did it), I will sacrifice whoever I need to for Diamant. Something that could be done with him is get him atk spd finish, spurn 4 for the phantom spd effect and spd/def ideal, make him almost impossible to double, I simply do not have a summer Fjorm or a Timerra to kill for him
I would like to bring up Daring Fighter.
I know Spd Armors are niche, much less the player phase ones, but since it lacked any kind of special ramping on its own, those units would rather use Desperation 4, or you know, just use thr bold fighter seal.
It's funny you bring this up because even when it was released, no armor really wanted it because most armors didn't have the speed. Then literally the following february brought saves and basically killed the concept of player phase armors.
@@aghadlarhen9397 Unless your name is Summer Edelgard, who has a pref B skill, which just better in every way, auto doubles against dragons and beasts, and extra turn. I still wished it demoted, just to fool around with a Daring + Bold Galeforcer Armor.

Garbage day to me 1. It was at point where every banner introduce a F!Edelgard counter and she couldn't kill her in any phase due to vantage. It still makes me laugh every time I see that. Until she gets DR to survive foe's first hit she"ll be bad.
@@Prince_LeifI wouldn’t say garbage, she gives offensive cavs with no bulk trouble, she’s definitely fallen off due to units like B;seliph and her weakness to hardy bearing, but she wasn’t garbage, just specific in her matchups.

i disagree that ranged fliers are weak, yeah they have worse skills, but maps are just so biased towards fliers that it doesnt matter
How tf is Holy Pressure bad? 🤨
High cooldown count on a unit type that 99% of the time has no slaying or cooldown acceleration. Duo Elise had both and did great because of it, but it was poor performance on any other healer especially the demotes.
I think he's just comparing it to the other one thay Elinicia has. Because 3 cooldown is pretty high for skill that goes based of the FOES RES, because typical the res stat on most units isn't very high in the first place
This last batch of refines in general for me. Like why would i use Larcei over Summer Fjorm? Fjorm has damage reflection, higher speed, by default comes with Spurn 4, Attack/Speed Finish 4, and Times Pulse 4. Like one of her and she destroys everything with no inheritance required. Why would i ever use Tsubasa over any modern day Lance Flier? Like honestly. I compare her to summer male Shez for example and not only is he Free 2 play friendly, but he has higher speed, a brave weapon, and the ability to run Dive Bomb so he can get all 4 of his Brave hits in at once... AND he can actually work with Grand Strategy because his weapon doesnt have penalty negation. Like none of those refines, even made them close to Meta again and its honesltu tragic as a Tsubasa fan 😭. Then lets not forget how Brave Tiki power crept herself with her Ascended form and then her wedding alt 😂
To be fair to Larcei, at least she's more available than Summer Fjorm, because Summer Fjorm is still new enough that we need to wait for her banner to be rerun to get her again

Tsubasa could had been better mainly because using it would mean remaking her entire build
So I'm just waiting for another arcane Lance rerun
Larcei is a 4 star special unit where as Summer Fjorm is a modern limited unit. Larcei can also run 2 cooldown specials without using up her C slot for Time's Pules or Godlike Reflexes with Time's Pulse. Really the main issue with Larcei's refine is the lack of damage reduction piercing or extra dodge for herself.
Summer Male Shez doesn't have Dive-Bomb and Canto built into his weapon. You'd have to pick one or the other. Not to mention how Tsubasa has armor and cav effectiveness on top of getting 16 attack and speed compared to Shez only getting 20% speed based damage.
But really if we're comparing 3 year old characters to current year characters in a gacha where power creep is king then of course the more recent ones will generally have more perks.
Larcei and Tsubasa still have their own respective niche.
@EinSilverRose 1. That's literally my point, why would I use an older unit when I can summon 1 of a new unit that won't need any skill inheritance.
2. Shez does indeed have Canto in his Weapon. Not to mention +15 is literally nothing compared to what you get if pair someone with Robin's Grand Strategy, which she can't do, not only that but a fully built Tsubasa only gets up to 55 Speed, Shez gets up to 61 and this is at base, meaning she already needs 7 of that +16 to even get up to his level. Also Divebomb + Brave weapon means his hitting 4 times before the enemy can attack so that kinda trumps her ability to do effective damage, especially because he's also getting true damage off his stupidly high speed. Not to mention he can actually also run Unity.
