Adding salt to the wound was that unlike any other free giveaways up to that point (extending even to today), the units also had random ivs instead of the typical neutral, which more often than not made the experience even worse.
Of all celebratory events, I remember this one the best, because by some miracle I was blessed with a great iv Duma, but many were not as lucky :/
Suprised you didnt mention that both the YT n Reddit community were trying to find/rig a way to avoid LLyn being their freebie; mainly the whole "each color orb has a unique jingle when touched on the summoning screen, so maybe the jingle wasnt changed" that ended up being pointless cause all of the yellow orbs made the colorless jingle

I didn’t really remember this until you brought it up. I hadn’t been able to summon Duma on his banner so I really wanted him.
People were saying that each orb colour made a different sound and were going to try to summon based on that (it didn’t work, they all sounded the same XD), guess they didn’t know about the predetermined unit 😅
I ended up getting Azura which to this day I still have and is my only copy, not Duma, but I was happy I didn’t get Lyn 😅

I remember how after the results people we're trying to use the summon stones sounds to avoid getting Lyn
I think people are just stupid. They clear as day told us to look around with our mobile devices. Anyone with any luck of sense would assume “well I’m on my phone so that means I gotta look around by scrolling?” and then they try it and it works. So, I can’t really blame IS for this one, since they made it clear as day what you were supposed to do.
Was fortunate enough to Free pull Duma back then, but it’s still surprising how many people didn’t know how to drag the screen to pick other units. That’s how Legendary Lyn got on there.
OH MY GOD I REMEMBER THIS. I initially thought this event was infamous for legendary lyn getting in and the 4 “piss orbs,” but this provided SO much more info as to why everything happened the way it did. Thanks for making this video as this gave me some really funny flashbacks to when i basically just started FEH
I remember this so clearly it's really bad! Out of my small friend group that I was doing this with, I was the one who got L!Azura, everyone else got L!Lyn. Another friend who was in another state got Halloween Myrrth.
Another thing of this banner is that, unlike many free hero banners, the hero you obtain for free had random IVs. So you could summon a -atk or -spd L!Lyn.
Yeah, I hope we get this event again, except we could only have units from the two latest years.
I remember a lot of people after the event was over saying they didn't know they could scroll. Definitely not being able to summon for free the hero you vote on every time was a huge blow to me. But ya know what's worse that 1 Legendary Azura? 2 Legendary Azuras! I hope we get an Armor Azura as our next Azura and SmulAzura gets a refine
I remember I wanted Legendary Azura so badly and not only did I get Lyn I was also unaware of the summoning banner afterward which would've guaranteed me an Azura ... I spent all my orbs a week before on Valentina Hector fodder because I thought "well I wont need these orbs". I would not get Azura until October of the next year
I couldn’t even look at Lyn after this event for awhile. I was the embodiment of the walls are salt the ceiling is salt meme.

God, I remember when Reddit went into meltdown when they summoned Lyn.
As for my case, I got Myrrh, which was par for the course.
Ironically, B!Lyn without the horse was the only of the four unit that I didn’t own at the time. Not even till this day. Glad I got another L!Azura instead for my collection.
Yes, this is how I got my legendary Lyn. Amazing event, stopped trusting other players. Eventually recovered my faith on the all green banner of this year.
I always forget about this event until I go through my box and notice…her, just sitting there and collecting dust. Was really hoping for Duma or Azura, I mean, I’d probably still be using them now, unlike…her, who I genuinely haven’t used in years.
The find and vote treated me really well. I got a merge on Halloween Myrrh who was the only one i wanted.

I remember this event when I started playing back 2019 and the free summon was still up. Got Legendary Azura and thought she was kinda weak because combat... Oh boy, was not aware she was the best option. Carried the game for me during the early days, and sometimes she still does every now and then.
Yeah, I remember this event. When I did my free summon, I got Azura. Now she was at least a good unit to have, the only problem with it was at that time, I already had Azura while I had none of the other 3 units. To this day, I still don’t have L Lyn or H Myrrh
I was one of the unlucky ones who got L!Lyn for the free summon, and I have PEOPLE NOT KNOWING HOW TO SCROLL ON THE SCREEN TO BLAME???
I also just remembered I spent about... 500 orbs to get L!Azura on the corresponding banner and still did not get her. The salt was SO real LOL
I remembered that for some reason I couldn't scroll around for the first few days for some reason, it was only during the last few days of the voting
To this day this is by far one of the most hilarious things ever happened in FEH, I cannot help but burst out in laughs when thinking of all people complaining because a lot of players didn't figure out how to scroll a screen.
That and, well, the fact that I got LAzura.
Another part of it is that many were so desperate about not wanting to get LLyn that in the days before the banner that we went so far as to listen the sound that plays when you touch a Summonong stone in the circle (Since all of them have different sound effects depending on the color) and hope that the yellow stones still kept this feature, so that by listening you could avoid the eventual Lyn.
As it turned out however, all the yellow stones made the exact same sound.
Everything about that event was hysterical, by far the funniest thing that ever came out form Feh

Anyway I remember those times and all the salt that came with it. I got Myrrh but I had a hatred for using Armors at the time but I never killed her off. Now I just feel sorry for people who got Lyn. Moral of the story: SCROLL
It's hard for me to think that far back to available green heroes at the time, not least top tier ones, but I'm surprised L!Lyn won in the first place for green. (But oh boy, do I remember pulling her...)
My free summon was my LAzura who I still use to this day. Such a fantastic unit.
I got a -Spd Lyn from the banner, still have her since her one use was in Arena Assault to bait Legendary Azura. But jeez did it hurt to get her.
I free pulled Lyn on this banner too. I haven't used her since I trained her to level 40 right after the event. I probably never will.

Find and Vote was definitely a disaster. At the very least all 4 aged far better than most but I'm sure most who got the free Lyn either foddered her away or just turned her into feathers out of spite. I really hated the lack of choice for the free summon. Why they couldn't just let you choose which color to pick and get said hero other than, "because Legendary Azura would be OP in everyone's hands" which isn't really a good excuse. Afterall, we all know IS cares so much about powercreep ruining the game for everyone.
Community driven events in FEH have always been pretty garbage. Base Edelgard making it to Top 8 in AHR 2020, Brave Edelgard making it as well during 2021 (but at least she was still really good by then unlike most of the characters who fell off by comparison), and of course all the idiots who got Fallen Edelgard into top 2 this year instead of a more useful character. I guarantee Summer Edelgard will get into Top 8 as well come this next AHR, but at least she's really good. In general this next AHR will be interesting to watch.
I don't even need to bring up CYL. CYL 5 was just, the worst. I'm so glad Gatekeeper ended up being garbage. Hopefully the 3H recency bias wears off for CYL7, (also dear god there are 7 of these 💀) but of course once Engage comes out we're going to start the song and dance all over again. That'll be fun.
Also because you brought up the anniversaries, I still hate that the free seasonal 5 star is still randomized and not like the cyl ones. All they would have to do is bring up the 4 colors and it'd still randomly pick from that pool of characters. If I want a colorless character because I have every green and blue seasonal for some reason, but I get nothing but green and blue summons... bruh.
The find and vote had gotten my my Duma, and I legit let out a sigh of relief thay it wasn't Lyn. While I did eventually get and do use legendary Lyn quite a bit nowadays, back before remixes were even a thing, she just collected dust, whereas my Duma did get interesting case uses every so often outside of AR.
The event itself honestly would have been better if it was clearer on the sight to scroll, or maybe even random spots to start from. Hell, even if it was top four overall, I know I would have gone for Tiki if that were the banner.
Ah well, what's past is past. I can only imagine though how much bigger the map would be or how crammed together the heroes would be if this became regular enough to stay around nowadays.

I think this most closely relates to a mathematical theory called Benfords law. The law, mostly used in cryptography states that we are more likely to see certain digits like 10 than later digits like 90, which makes sense because you have to PASS 10 to get to 90. but the distribution it creates has also been found to apply to other things like scrolling down a page. Results seem to suggest that a very high percentage of people (normally around 30%) will NEVER SCROLL, another high probability will only scroll a little, and the further out you go, naturally the less people see it because you have to pass everything found before it first... As soon as I saw how they designed it, I kinda figured it would succum to this.

My free summon was, in fact, a +Def/-Atk Legendary Lyn. She was the first of any Lyn I've ever received, so I wanted to build her up and use her. I refused to give up on my Legendary Lyn, even though she was the worst Legendary at the time. I was able to summon a +Atk/-HP one on the corresponding Find & Vote banner, so I was able to merge her up using the +Atk one as a base, which already made her more useful!
Thankfully, her refine and remix gave her redemption by turning her into a swell player phase unit! Once I saw that Laws of Sacae II gave her Windsweep (Windsweep 1 without preventing her own follow-ups to be exact), I used the compilable Fallen Male Corrin manual to give her Null Follow-Up 3 to prevent foes from stopping her follow-ups. I did manage to get a second merge for her on the first ever Legendary remix banner (featuring Legendary Ike and Fjorm)!
What I'd really love to see is a Golden version of the Head-Orb accessory that we got for April Fools' 2019, so that I can put it on my Legendary Lyn's head to show that she was my Find & Vote free summon.

I recall the event, but I dont remember anything about it. 🐀 I either got Duma or Azura then, cause I Forma'd for my first Myrrh, and Lyn was only this year.

Yeah scrolling was never a thing in Heroes, so most players asumed you could only pick from heroes on the opening page of a map. The best thing about most refines was just to get a 16 might weapon at the time, there where a lot of heroes without a preference weapon 😅.
Also i tried going for L!Azura so many times at that point but could never get her to the point i stopped playing for years after this banner ended.
I got Duma for my summon, not who I wanted but I still have him on my AR-D to this day
Thankfully the game was super nice to me and I got Azura. I wanted Myrrh or Duma, but Azura turned out to be absolutely cracked. My roommate got Lyn.
They should've just colored the orbs and allowed everyone to pick who they wanted. Then again, I'm glad the game basically told me "no you idiot here's the best unit in the game".
Whenever I describe this event to new FEH players I tell them that this was a random summon event where you could get screwed with a (then) dud unit because a good chunk of the playerbase didn't know how to read instructions or scroll a screen in 2019.
I'm still pissed Hector didn't get on that banner even though the yellow orbs gave me Myrrh. The best decision IS ever made for this game IMO is never doing this event again and forgetting those yellow orbs existed along with Relay Defense.

I'm sorry, that's a clear player problem, I wasn't playing around that time, but like, didn't people scroll to equip skills and stuff, shouldn't be that hard to scroll on that page.......
This was three years ago so my recollection may not be fully accurate but back then it actually took me two days into the event to realize that you could scroll the screen. The instructions REALLY didn't make that clear at all. It was only after getting the same static screen twice in a row that I thought "WTF?" and looked up info online where I found out from other players that you can scroll the screen. Simply put, I was under the impression that we were supposed to get randomized screens everyday and it's clear that I wasn't the only one under that false impression.

Only thing L!Azura has over duo azura is arena scoring and some niche flier skills like aerobatics and goad flier

I was pretty baffled when I saw lyn and who did I get but lyn, I was pretty upset and then I ended getting inigo (pretty sure green was my second choice, it's been 3 years) for my free special hero which made things worse because now I got 2 dead free units (no offense)
