- Last in the series showing the construction of a 3m wide geodesic tunnel greenhouse, onsite assembly and finishing.
Plans for this dome are available here: www.geo-dome.co.uk/domeshop/ar...
This is the last in a three part series:
Part 1. • Tunnel dome build tuto...
Part 2. • Geo-dome tunnel tutori...
Part 3. • tunnel dome build part 3 - Jak na to + styl
I love this concept - as soon as the snow melts here I think I'm going to built one of these out of metal electrical conduit pipes.
Too bad you never got to this project. It's a lot easier to bend metal than to cut wood to specific angles.
Some might argue a regular polytunnel would be quicker more easier build, but when the snow hits, which tunnel would stand and which would buckle. Still a lot of work involved in this, you should be proud of yourself accomplishing this project. I guess you could build a bigger dome instead of a tunnel, but then you have to work with whatever space restrictions you may have regarding garden size etc. Many thanks for the effort involved Mr. Robinson. Liked and already Subscribed.
That is really cool! Thanks, very nice.
I can not imagine that there are no horcontal forces at the "finish/end' of the "equator" given that you have, due to the door/opening no ring closure. Could this be a reason for the deformation of the "dome"? I love your projects, btw, very well doen! :)
very cool - thank you for sharing.
Nice idea!
Hola Paul, hermoso domo túnel, me gustaría hacer uno para cultivar hortalizas, tendrás algún plano de referencia para poder construir lo?
I scoured the internet and youtube for this design and I just found it on your channel. Thanks! Is there a simpler 2V dome design like this?
Why cannot one also wrap the tunnel segments individually as well?
Congratulations! You ar ethe first person on CZcams to build a Geodesic tunnel! Did you think about making it from conduct? I guess working with wood is a bit too complex, what do you think?
Good job
Como se hacen los planos para cortar angulos😊
nice design
Nice video indeed! Did you get the plans btw? I'm keen on building it myself
Nice.Lot of work. How do I get the plans?I am in the USA
Complimenti ancora
Paul did you get that window opener hardware online? Would it be possible to get a link? I have searched all around for something like that with no luck. Thanks!
THANKS.
I wish I could build my garage this way! =)
it seems to me that these domes could benefit greatly from some tensegrity style support cables, but at that point why don't you just automate assembly?
you can have the plastic on reels inside the triangles so it's always tight. the real issue here is that you're doing 2D triangles instead of 3D ones. if you did flat face outwards pyramids you could run the cables along the inner apex. that gives you somewhat variable geometry as well.
let me throw together a mock-up and I'll just make a video and link to it
Plastic can be tightened up using hot air from a heat gun or hair dryer.
what are the basic tools needed to build this and how long did it take?
Tools you'll need are: Table saw with tilt function, drill driver, hand saw, staple gun. That;s about it!
A chop saw won't really work because you need to cut the struts on an angle down one edge.
I think you meant "conduit." Thank you for sharing your tunnel dome.
I send you request about imperial pdf plan by email ,no answer......
What is with the object blocking the view of the construction??? cant see how things were going together.
Sorry about that, I had tape on the camera and it came loose. ~When I'm on site I only get one shot at the time-lapse it's very annoying when it goes wrong.
What type of wood you use please ? Thanks.
Just basic softwood from the builders yard. It needs to be quite soft and resistant to splitting because there are screws near the ends. Larch, whitewood are a couple of examples.
nice touch having the piece of plastic flapping in front of the lens for the first minute & a half.....LOL
Not too - whether a fragile design? Generally, I liked a structure.
Anybody else DIZZY?
No never got the plans.I am more into the Coming of the Lord now then Domes. You should be to.Look up Rapture .But This is a new topic for many.
