I get goosebumps every time when they sing: "Up from the sea, R'lyeh will rise."
This is quite ingenious tribute to Lovecraft's best work, I really like it.
I imagine, hypothetically if this event actually happened, it may have surprised him, and that is why he retreated, regenerating, and returning to slumber. Just a thought, though.

I recently bought a cthulhu facemask to wear to work, and I still haven't been told to change my mask yet, which is surprising due to the fact that the most obvious part of the design while being worn is the pentagram and three eyes directly below it.

You know there's a DND like rpg based on Cthulhu Mythos? It's called Call of Cthulhu.
I played a cultist of Nyarlahotep in a Pathfinder game while back. Apparently I laid the groundwork that led to the destruction of the world and him being a major god in the sequel game Starfinder.
I'm gonna be running a Shadow of the Demon Lord campaign soon. It gives me pretty strong Lovecraft vibes.
Sent my players through a Lovecraftian ocean in an otherwise Steampunk world. They may think it's over, but the Fog still lingers in their lungs, veins and mind...

Their servants, cultists, and children may be killed, but not the gods themselves.If anything, we would need an eldritch power of our own to banish them or imprison them, such as hoe Cthulhu was imprisoned in Rl'yeh.
