Edit! Lyrics added, see below. This was a request! And I happen to have this song, seeing as how I only have 13 of the carols from both discs, not a lot. Soo, yes. Hope you enjoy!
Lyrics:
Alhazred said that is not dead which can eternal lie.
The Arab said that is not dead for even death may die.
For even death may die my dear for even death may die.
Alhazred said that is not dead which can eternal lie
And on his own he penned the tome that's called the Al Azif.
The howling devil sang to him with fiendish songs of grief.
With fiendish songs of grief my dear with fiendish songs of grief.
The howling demon sang to him with fiendish songs of grief.
Then unseen demons killed him dead on a dry Damascus lawn.
His words live on for strange eons the Necronomicon.
The Necronomicon he wrote the Necronomicon.
He still lives on in strange eons the Necronomicon. - Hudba
"He still lives on in strange aeons....THE NECRONOMICON"

It's songs like this that make you proud to be from Innsmouth. Not many things can do that.
Dude this would go great as a mashup with Yung Croaks "Gurb Gurb Gibb Gallo"
alot of people seem to make the mistake of thinking that eldritch horror is nhilistic, and it couldn't be further from the truth. the true horror of reality is that life has a meaning, its just that the meaning either doesn't involve you or is something that you don't want.
much life real life, the true horror isn't an absence, its that EVERYTHING has a meaning it just never revolved around you.
A throwaway line in H.P Lovecraft's mythos becomes one of my favorite songs to get drunk and sing to. Life really is strange sometimes huh?
I searched for this shit. I’m literally wearing a miskatonic university button up right now next to my notes with scribbles that resemble terrors. This is the chill beats I was looking for when writing a call of Cthulhu game
I love how everyone is freaking out and asking how they got here, and then theres me and the bois who understand all the great myths, the legends and the dark truth, just having a full in-depth conversation that spands over the coarse of nearly 10 years... ah its beautiful....
I love when people are hipsters about shit lol

Has anyone else noticed that in these stories all the other species of the universe seem to cope with reality pretty well? The Yithians, the lizard people that came before us and the insect people that will come after us, the Mi Go, the Elder Things, they all know more of the universe than we do and yet seem to get along relatively well. But humanity goes insane and ultimately retreats from the pursuit of knowledge out of fear of what we might learn. Are we just a bunch of pussies? :P
First of all, not everyone just goes insane. Lovecraft's reputation for that is quite a bit exaggerated. His protagonists sometimes crumble, but the stronger ones among them usually recover after a while. They may even win, once they have overcome their horror. There's a handful who even show up in several stories and have quite a career in researching the truth of the universe.
One might argue that humanity is just in a transitional period. There's been sorcerers and magicians throughout Lovecraft's history who dealt with it quite well, and now (1930s now) that scientists are unveiling quantum mechanics and relativity, humanity will soon take their place among these species and the stars.
So, Haiyore! Nyaruko-chan helps us process the Old Ones?
Yes.
Bro this shit sounds woke af
Many humans in the story aren't insane. I mean, most of them involve humans worshipping them and they didn't go crazy.
Can there be any more uplifting message? Let's play this song, fellow belivers, let's play this song loudly and proudly. Let all those ignorant fools know that even death may die.

I gotta admit, I'm impressed. I put even death may day in the search to get a quote and I get it sang to olde lang syne instead. I didn't know I wanted this.
Well lads, it's that time: cue this up in your playlists, cross your fingers, drink to the new year, and pray that the starspawn enact their unholy plan, to spare us from whatever fresh hell 2021 is bringing.
Well, this year is...still pretty awful not gonna lie.
This aged like milk in the Texas sun. Then let this be a prelude to the shitshow of 2022.
this but for 2022
I almost love that this song is still a great prelude to the next shit year.
I sometimes wonder why Cthulhu gets all the press, when the ultimate horror is and always has been Azathoth. (Although an argument could be made for Yog Sothoth.)
Cthulhu is in essence a water deity. As such, he is powerful, but not more powerful than, say, Cthugha or Ithaqua.
All of these entities suffer limitations, indignities and even (temporary) death.
The daemon sultan writhing mindlessly to the sound of impious flutes at the center of the universe and the all-in-one-and-one-in-all wear no such fetters.
It's quite simple. "Call of Cthulhu" holds an important place in the works of Lovecraft and is what typified the mythos as a whole. It became the most popular work because it was accessible and made early on. Later entities were added mostly by other authors who built upon the stories, and the ones Lovecraft himself wrote came later in his career. For the same reason, Dagon, Innsmouth, and Arkham are also sometimes referenced closely behind.
It's not because Cthulhu himself gets all the press, but it's because the story that featured him played the biggest part in creating the mythos as a whole.
It's also because Azathoth is too distant to matter to humanity.
Ismail Abdelirada It is frequently stated that Azatoth lack in intelegent, that’s why he(?) is called the idiot god that nobody like(maybe?)
Francisco reza Nah fam, Azatoth knows all its just that he’s too “blind” in a sense to notice that he created all. “All” referring to the universe and outer verse and such.
To elaborate on an earlier reply I made, Azathoth just exists on a different scale to humanity, like a nuke does to ants. Unfathomably vast horrors can be scary, but on Azathoth-scale they're just so vast that what's unfathomable is that we're supposed to be scared of them.
I always liked the idea that such a powerful force, like death or a God, can die.
What you don't understand, you simply fear!
If all of life finally passes, then even death will die.
The only 2 certainties in life... death and taxes x
Love how there's a casual Chaos Undivided sigil between all the cthulu stuff
So the 8-pointed star of Chaos Undivided as a symbol of evil/chaos (not the same thing, if you're going by the belief systems from which the order/chaos dichotomy stems, but I digress) originates from Michael Moorecock's 'the Eternal Champion' stories, as the symbol of the forces of chaos in that universe, standing opposed to those of order. However, stylized as spokes of a wheel (as the Fantasy/40k/AoS are, with a circle halfway through), the sigil is actually an ancient Buddhist one symbolizing the 'Eightfold Path', with each of the spokes symbolizing one of eight Buddhist principles to be embodied so that one may attain enlightenment (nirvana). Quite funny, considering that practically each of these principles is inversely performed by one serving one of the Chaos gods, or Chaos Undivided.
thats the star of discord, warhammer just happened to also use it

Hello I know realize that R'lyeh will only rise when the stars are properly aligned. But I know a good amount about astrology and I am clueless as to which stars must be aligned and in what way I would really appreciate the help
I don't think that the astrological models created by humans have any correlation to the constellations that the Great Old Ones used, which might not even be limited to visible stars, considering that they can see much farther into space than we can.
The stars must be aligned just as they were on the night R'lyeh sank, and because the universe is expanding the stars will never be aligned in such a way ever again.
TheGredig Who said it was stars that are still alive?
Demortis1 Well if the stars died they'd never be right again, and the books heavily imply that they'll be right very, very soon. But putting it like that, they'd probably choose stars which they knew would be around for a while, since they're immortal, otherwise they'd need to change them every few billion years and they wouldn't hold much significance.
It's either that, or they used a set of stars that happened to die out and continued to track their movements among the heavenly bodies.
when Cthulhu comes to Earth, but that's okay because you're one of the guys who summoned him
but you ran out of butter
Can't wait to play this on new years this year.

Dan Conroy is a kick-ass singer.
He sings with great vigor
makes you wonder...what kind of childhood did HPL have?
Not a great one. I don't remember the few details I ever knew, but his whole life was rather unpleasant.
A really, really bad one. When your mom has neurosyphilis but doesn't know it, she's liable to do shit like keep you confined to the house because you're so ugly your face will scare the neighbors. And if, after years of this, she had to be taken to an asylum screaming about monsters made of shadow, she left you with no one and nothing but your incredibly racist aunts...you would not turn out well. Maybe not quite as bad as him, but not much better either.

of course, for a REAL shin-ding, scrawl all the invitations on clay bas reliefs of unidentifiable craft, then leave them *on the doorstep* and serve only water with a strange gray dust in it....and present the whole affair in a room with boarded up ratholes..one of which will not stay closed. the cieling and wall should also meet at a rather unusual angle...and give a good view of both the stars and a disused well...

@SkiDesignS: It is Auld Lang Syne; no doubt about that. Always great to stumble across a new one of these.

To be precise Lovecraft wrote that the most complete greek version left in the early twenties of last century of the Necronomicon (which is the greek title, the original arab version is titled "kitab al azif" according to HPL) had 806 pages, while there were several but not many pages still missing.

Just lie down and close your eyes and listen to death may die, if you see something that's just your imagination.
Something NESFA did many years ago, to the tune of Wichita Lineman:
I am a worshiper of Cthulu
And I lead a mad horde
Searching everywhere for our mad overlord
And we need him more than want him
But we'll have him for all time
When his city of R'lyeh
Ascends from the slime
All true servants of the Ancient Ones should rejoice. For they will come and R'lyeh will arise and Lord Cthulhu will reign again.
Happy new year! Ia cthulhu f'tagn!
I thought it was "Old Lang Zine", but I looked it up and apparently you're right. Of course technically it's actually a New Years song rather than a Christmas carol, but then again I suppose the albums aren't strictly Christmas (one of them also had a parody of "The Dreidel Song").
"Alhazred said that is not dead which can eternal lie." Not sure if he ment Cthulhu or Lenin
Apparently Crhulhu and Christmas go together like Lovecraft and monstrous racism.
