- Get a Yamaha carburetor rebuild kit for your B90TLRX: bit.ly/B90TLRX-carb-kit
We’ll show you how to clean the carburetor on your Yamaha outboard in this video from Boats.net. In this video, we’re working with a 1999 Yamaha B90TLRX, so we’re actually working with three carburetors.
See how to remove the carburetor bank on your B90TLRX. We’ll disconnect each of the three carburetors from their separate linkages and electrical connections so that we can get it on the bench. Then, we’ll use a Yamaha outboard carburetor repair kit to replace the parts we need. The kit serves one carburetor, so you’ll need three kits for all three carbs. We’ll clean the jets, inspect the pilot screw, replace the gasket, and then get the carb back together again. Then, we’ll show you how to connect the carburetors together again and re-install the carbs on your Yamaha outboard.

Greetings from northen Sweden and a fellow mechanic. Video reminds me of a guy in the shop that did what you did now, only it was 4 carburators. He took it apart and mounted it back on the engine, walked back in the shop to get the key and right there on the bench is one jet and a float... Need I tell you it was a friday afternoon.
Excellent demonstration in breaking down the carbonators .
Awesome job! Very detailed and thorough. Thanks
Clearly explained, excellent video quality! A joy to watch about a task I dread.
Thank you!
Really liked it ..very nicely explained!
Very Instructive Video. Thanks
Great video, thank you for sharing. I will add that a good set of JIS screwdrivers are the proper screwdrivers for Japanese screws. Their phillips and ours are a different shape.
Excellent made video!
Found this right after doing it on my own... Oh well turned out great! Super informative video ! very helpful ! I did a rebuild on a 50 hp Yamaha 2 stroke 2003 and the carbs look identical.
I just did mine today it was easy thanks for the video
GREAT PRESENTATION
Great Video professional well done.
Awesome job bro
Job done 👍
🤨 But does it fire right up and ride out
This helped me alot, thx!
Great Video.... Do you same the same video for a 2008 Yamaha 50tlr rebuild ?
Great video! Question - Is the process much different on a 1999 4 stroke Yamaha 100HP TXRX?
Great video now can you tell me where can I find my pilot Jets and Main jets for my 90 Yamaha engine it seems that boat. Net does not carry them I believe only in a 45 and 65 they had where can I find a poor by 90 or are they all the same
Should you replace all the fuel lines to avoid future failure?
Fantastic video, unfortunately it skipped the part about how to hook up properly the oil linkage... and then said it will cause engine failure if not done... Mine won't go on properly so now I'm stuck on what is the correct way to hook it up.
good afternoon, please which initial adjustment of the carburettor air bolts, on yamaha 60 fed thanks
I agree with the comments about checking the float height. Great video but you should not have to press down on the float tang to fit the needle and if someone follows this procedure on older carbs with adjustable float height - then their fuelling will be out across the rev range. You also should balance the carbs against the master carb after cleaning.
Balance the carbs against master carb?
Once the set screen for the main jet was removed did you just take a pic to poke it out ? On my system top carb it falls out but on the bottom it seems to be stuck is there a way to poke it out without damaging anything?
Is there any carb tuning after??
Would the process be similar for a 96 Yamaha Pro 50?
Would this be same as a 2004 150TRLC?
Awesome thanks.....
Looks like you didn’t get that floatseat off properly?? It looks damages. Is it have proper tool at all? I take my Dremel and cut little slice in the middle to get it off!
Are these carbs similar to the F90TLRB?
It would be nice to hear it running after cleaning the carbs. That way I would know how it is supposed to sound.
Supposed to sound like “bwop bwop bwop bwop bwop bwop bwop”
50hp yam 2 stroke......is the float parallel to carb body upsidedown?
Do you ever install the other larger Oring?
It goes on the bolt that screws into the side of the float bowl
Thank you
Bow to your master!
Jared Terman Deez Nuts!!!
Is this the same procedure for a 1988 Yamaha 90 ETLG? I also may need carb parts for this engine, so if anyone can point me in the right direction, thanks.
What the about link & sync procedure 🤔
What's the difference between the 75 and 90 hp models they both have the same carbs intake and power head listed is there a restrictor in the exahust or does the exhaust manifold restrict it
Different jets and timing
Why didn’t you replace the large gasket on the top half of the carburetor?
i have a motor like that after cleaning carbs it makes squeaking noise and cuts off on low idxle, check the video out its under Roman Nesen
although he is a good tech, why did he not remove the top side of carb and check all the passage ways, idle mixture screw , and check float height, if ur not gonna do it all, let somebody else do it.
Nice video.. I have the 2008 Yamaha 50 TLR and I just rebuilt the carbs. I had to drill out the brass plugs to get to the pilot screws.. I replaced them with the new ones in the kit but my manual doesn't say what the setting would be for each carb. does anyone know how many turns I should back them out for each carb? Thanks !
What were the old ones set at.
Are you the older brother from Little Sheldon?
Hello from Russia!
Hello Russia from the USA!
You pointed out two small O rings one was smaller than the other but what was the thicker small O ring for?
The Thick O ring is for the Drain Plug thats on the carbs.
Thanks guys...I was just sitting here staring at that oring
What would.cause the engine to just die after running for 10 or 15 minutes we let off the throttle to slow down the engine cuts off ,want start again you have to wait about an hour or so and it will fire up again , then the same thing happens
I have a Yamaha 90 with carb problem "C90TLRZ". Carb is leaking out of one of the vent holes on top of carb while motor is running. I checked the 'needle and seat' which has no pits. Do you have any ideas of the problem? I'm thinking it maybe a heavy 'float' which maybe flooding the carb. Fuel is also leaking out of the passage of the throat of Carb.
I solved my problem, everyone said it was the needle/seat in the carburetor which it could have been. Ordered new needle/seat and float. Well it turned out the new float weighed in at 176 grains, old float weighed in at 425 grains. Changed the float only and problem solved.
I have a 1994 Yamaha 2 stroke 70hp engine I rebuilt all 3 carbs and replaced the cdi unit and spark plugs after that I took it out on a fresh water lake and at first it was hard to start, the engine idled fine but when I gave it the throttle it bogged down and shut off I restarted and gave it throttle again as I was taking off it bogged down again, i backed off the throttle then thrust the throttle back and forth until I finally got it past that point of speed but the engine could only push the boat to reach speeds up to 34 mph where before I could go 55 mph plus on my small whaler! It still boggs down everytime I take off? What could be the reason it is running rough like this and not smooth? Could I have possibly bought faulty plugs or do I have a fuel problem?
Float heights set properly during rebuild?… just a suggestion 🤷♂️
You didn't show how or what the float level was supposed to be ( very important for any carb)
These Floats are non-adjustable - Solid Plastic mount for needle
Is Yamaha jets holes smaller than others I just paid a place to fix my 88 pro v and he said the high speed jets holes are very small.
Yes
You can go with a slightly bigger jet. Mostly from a smaller hp Yamaha engine.
What is the purpose of the plug for the pilot jet?
Without that plug the carburetors will flood soon as you crank them up.
No float adjustment necessary?
These Floats are non-adjustable - Solid Plastic mount for needle
I got a 90 horsepower 2005 start up very shut up after a minute
Where in the heck can I get a 10mm thin wall spent 55 dollars so far
Hi
I have 1999 75 hp TLRX model with set of carbs the same like the 90 hp from video.
I’m trying to buy carb kit according to parts manual from boats.net going by serial number and it shows completely different set of carbs.
Do I have wrong set of carbs installed?
Engine is original.
Did Yamaha produced 75 hp with 2 different set of carbs for that year?
Anyone has 1999 75 hp TLRX with set of carbs from 90hp?
Thanks everyone
Same carb just the jets size are different and the timing also
No info abuot the other carb which have different use.
how come you didn't take the top of the carburetor off and see what kind of build up in trash was in it and said just taken out make sure screw there's trash all up in there 90% of the time
That's not a vacuum line at 4:20 & 19:55, that's actually the fuel enrichment line that sends raw fuel behind the #2 reed valve assembly at startup. Great video otherwise. Very informative.
I disagree, take to the fuel and vacuum hoses with some gusto, if they are at all weak, chuck them. I wouldn't put back hardened or weak hoses, that's something not be fooled with.
When he told us to start by removing the cowling...ugh
Just dump a can of Seafoam in the tank and call it a day....
what about gloves...
To be honest, a lot of times gloves get in the way.
It's a good suggestion though!
