I live in the US and my Google Home still won't make calls. I get an error like, "Sorry, I don't understand," or "Sorry, I can't help with that." When will it officially be rolled out to all US users?

I was skeptical about this thing for a while, but I did end up buying one and putting it in the kitchen. It's really just a glorified BT speaker but it sounds good and is pretty useful at a few tasks. If you've got cash to burn on a gadget you could do worse.
nochtczar I think you mean to say that you have not used it for much more than a speaker. It does way more than a "glorified by speaker"

Will it also Text?As I understand, it recognizes the voice that is associated with a specific phone. I hope that it can also text from that phone as well, just as android auto does through google.
Does it still use your phones minutes? Or if my minutes usage is up for the month can I use the Home and not get charged for extra time?

a lot of people think (including me) that the fingerprint sensor is much easier to handle with your pointing finger. it's up to your preference though, but there isn't a "wrong side".
This worked for me to call my husband but not when he tried it to call me. Is there a way to set up the Home to work from more than one phone's info.

It works with google home assistant, it is not a phone thing. I am sure it can call an Iphone that has a number.

ijamesweb I am the admin. Everything is on. This phone feature works however Google Assistant is severely limited in functionality, look it up. Can't track shipments, flights, hotels, or even check my calendar through Home!

I love my Google Home, but the last line... is false. You can make calls on the Amazon Echo too.
Tony Daussat actually you can't make a phone call with the Dot. The Dot is using a App to App call without a number. So technically that's not a phone call. Because if the other person don't have the app you can't call them. This can call any number, just like a phone.
The Alexa requires the other user to at minimum have the alexa app on their phone. And it certainly does not know the sandwich place down the street. It is limited to what you call things in your contacts.

You will need to have "calls" under More settings>Services in the
Home app before you can toggle the GV number to show on the receiver's
caller ID. The calls option appears to be a server side push, so until
it arrives calls will show as "unlisted" until you can open that setting
and toggle the GV number. I was able to make calls before I had the
setting but a few hours later the option toggle showed up.

Yah! I have been waiting for this feature for a long time. I actually have both the google home and alexis devices. I purchased Alexis after deciding that Google was pretty much limited to a expensive timer (for me). I purchased Alexis after being misinformed that it could make phone calls. My mistake for not doing enough research because Echo can only call other echo users:( I have been testing google phone calling all morning and it works pretty well with this exception. Do not ask Google anything with the word "phone" in it as you will end up calling some bizarre business because it misunderstands anything with the word phone it in as a request to make a call. I love this feature because I pretty much make phone calls all day long and this is another way for me to do that instead of using a headset or sitting at my desk with a speaker phone.I also use Skype a lot to make calls to other Skype users. It would be great if home would interface with Skype.Thanks Google.

Well first of all it is voice activated, second, it uses your contacts and it can tell which sandwich shop you are talking about, like in the video

@Google, why is this feature not available in Germany? Sad to see that Alexa is starting to be the one with more available features. If you do not release international, you will loose the battle.
I like it because it saves me using minutes of my cell calling plan. No point for me to have an unlimited plan.
Can this be used for my Google Voice number if others want to call me? I've no cellular services near me, and Google Voice connected to a Google Home would be awesome!

Great question Ed. When you allow for personalized responses Google Home can ask you which contact is your Mom. Then you can set up Multi Users and Google Home can know the difference between 6 different people when you activate Google Home. Head to my channel and I will tell you all about it!
it's probably connected to your google account and contacts and that's probably the only MOM you have there.
