Is it just me, or does this design remind you of the Nintendo Switch? I mean, skip to 1:53 and that animation just reminds me of the "snap" animation for the Switch.

Even without the sound though, the animation by itself is enough to remind me of the Switch.

There’s something about Google’s signature font that’s so satisfying.
My Google home was popping on and off the whole video. It was like playing Russian roulette with a Chromecast and a home. Each time the light started rotating I thought to myself this "one's the one thats going to set her off" but alas the barrel was empty and so to my heart; for I wouldn't have minded hearing her voice again even if it wasn't I she beckoned upon. The treasure that is her voice would have made penance 10 fold. Truthfully I would play a galleons worth of Russian roulette if it meant to that I had afforded a mere syllable from that most mechanical heart known simply as "the Assistant".

there's definitely room for an ambient information display which no one has filled since the sony dash went t!ts up, but they REALLY need to work on providing better ambient information, not just pictures and a clock. they need to cycle through news, sports scores, weather, traffic, pretty things like photos, weekly grocery sales, reminders, calendar events, etc, etc, etc and ambiently so you can glance at it instead of it only answering when queried.

Well this isn't by Google. You can buy any brand of smart displays such as one from Lenovo or from other companies that have similar products. All of them have Google assistant included except for Amazon's lol

A docked smartphone or tablet already provides much of the same functionality. The only thing that might be missing is integration with your house's CCTV suite (which, if true, is easy to workaround).
Looks interesting as a proof of concept, though.
