Pele is the best attacking forward while Maradona is overall best in terms of coverage, dribbling skills, ball control, vision, eye for opportunities, magic with the ball, understanding the team chemistry, trickery and cunning passes. More than anything his leadership and inspiration is unmatched. In Pele's Brazil there are many who were good and won without Pele but not Maradona's Argentina.

Mi corazón es mitad verde e amarelo y soy, obviamente admirador sin reservas del fútbol de Brasil y de Pelé a quien tuve oportunidad de admirar en el mundial de México de 1970.
Dicho todo esto y después de ver este video de los mejores goles de Pelé me parece una falta de justicia para Nunes, Garrincha, Zico, Tostão, Nilton Santos, Djalma Santos, Sócrates, Romário, Cafú, Roberto Carlos, Ronaldinho, Rivaldo, Ronaldo, etc.

Que ele tinha talento é inegável, mas tinha mais. Ele era extremamente profissional e treinava muito, mas muito mais que os outros, o primeiro a chegar e o último a sair as vezes ficava 4 horas ou mais treinando faltas. Assisti a despedida dele na seleção no Rio em1971 e depois em 1973 Santos contra o Botafogo . Também assisti a despedida de Garrincha em 1973 em que Pelé acabou sendo a Estrela e marcou o gol mostrado aqui como "contra o resto do mundo". O goleiro era novamente o mesmo Andrada do gol 1000.
O Pelé era naquela época um ídolo universal sem paralelo. Não havia ainda a indústria da imagem que temos hoje. Talvez apenas Marilyn Monroe, John Kennedy, fossem figuras tão conhecidas. Certamente não havia nenhum esportista comparável e se olharem hoje em dia não existe. Michael Jordan foi um ícone do basquete mas nunca teve a estatura que Pelé teve e tem, e sem a mídia americana por trás. Pura e simplesmente Pele foi abraçado mundialmente expontaneamente, de uma forma que nunca mais se repetirá.
