    As a Marine I will say most people are physically able to complete training(USMC) its all the mental stuff that makes people quite. Also most people quite soon as things get hard. Being cold and wet is one of the most miserable things there is but if you cant block that out of your mind and finish you ain't gonna last long out in Coronado . We did some IBS training out there in the middle of July and the water still COLD!

    This is interesting. I was a corpsman assigned to Marine infantry platoons (grunts). When I was going through training we had tons of SEAL training drops (BUD/S Duds we called them) and most of them seemed to always end up being rockstar corpsmen within their platoons and most end up working with Scout Snipers or becoming SARCs (Recon Corpsmen). Hard to imagine that there are just no opportunities now, but this was also about 10 years ago

      There was a lot of back and forth between NSW and FMF when I was in. They would come around looking for high PT FMF corpsmen to recruit for BUDS. It seemed like they were always needing Corpsmen. Ed Byers spent 4 years in the FMF before he went to BUDS.

    High-quality video Jake. It makes sense that each branch would market its most glamorous roles to entice those seeking to join. When I graduated HS in 86, the Army pushed the Apache on many of their brochures, for example. This is why we need people like you, to tell the truth, and help people prepare, but always share the harsh reality of not being prepared or otherwise failing.

    The Navy never promises you any job. Just the opportunity to apply yourself to try to get into what ever field you want. If you wind up scraping paint there is nothing wrong with that. You are building character and learning about humility. No different than the corporate world. Everyone wants to have there own office with a fancy suit job but sometimes you have to start from the bottom and work your way up. In my opinion I would rather hire someone who started from the bottom and had the desire to work there way up than to take in someone who wants there own key to the bathroom.

      @@jakezweig some of the most well known seals have been med rolled. It’s not for everyone, but even Goggins got rolled twice. I’m not sure I would say he has weak genes.
      You and I both know there are kids who crush p3 performance times during p1 who get sipe or splints and are told they are med rolled and then all of a sudden get told to rerate or get medsep without rymne or reason. They’re not duckers and put out and have no quit in them. Then they have buddies who get bad peer reviews barely pass p times and get splints or pneumonia and get classed up again.
      I agree 100% quit and go to fleet. But kids who don’t have quit in them are highly motivated and the Navy can take advantage of these boys and if they did we both know they would excel.
      Not only that, but if they were truly given the opportunity to bud/s up again they would do well. Truth is 99% don’t get to come back again even when told they could.

Not that it was hard or really that difficult. Just not the type of guys they were. Lol, my SWCC buddy got in a little trouble and as a punishment they sent his ass to the fleet for a year. • @internet_internet
      @internet_internet Před rokem +3

      Good strategy.
      My recruiters in 2013-14 BS’d me for a year and a half, and at one point I had near, if not auto-qual scores.
      They told me that the ONLY way for me to get a SEAL contract would be in bootcamp, and that I first had to go with a different job.
      They told me the best job-choice that would allow me to get that SEAL contract would be to choose “aircrew wet”, which they told me the job abbreviation for was AW instead of AIRR.
      They told me before choosing aircrew wet, that I would first have to choose “aircrew dry”, which they told me the abbreviation was AD instead of AW.
      So I signed an AD contract (aviation machinist mate) thinking that it was an aircrew-dry contract, which would somehow allow me to obtain an aircrew-wet contract, which would somehow allow me to get my SEAL contract in bootcamp.
      Once I learned that I made a mistake, I tried to somehow cancel/nullify that contract in multiple different ways. I didn’t know that I could just walk away.
      My recruiters told me that if I didn’t show up for my bootcamp date, that the police would come to my house to forcibly bring me in to ship out.
      Not only that, but he told me “just say no about that part” on my med-screen regarding past teenage ADD and psych treatment. I checked the no box while at his desk like he told me to, and that directly got my discharged from bootcamp with a “fraudulent enlistment” discharge. 22 days of “service” on my DD214.
      AND my recruiters put a 100% incorrect last name on all of my paperwork, and wouldn’t fix it no matter how many times I requested them to fix it. MEPS wouldn’t fix that, as they said it was my recruiter’s job. I even stood up at the moment of truth to try to get it addressed, but the senior chief just yelled me into oblivion and sent me back into the room.
      So to this day, my DD214 still has a completely incorrect last name on it.
      Never Again Volunteer Yourself.

    Hey Jake,
    Hope all is well. I’ve been on your running program for, about, 5 months now. I run 9 miles every Saturday, as of October, and I’m upping it in February. It’s winter now, and the weather is much, much more harsh. Still, I run in it, irrespective of the conditions(unless there are reports of extreme ice on the sidewalks, then I run inside). However, my times have gone down substantially, from a sold 18:31 run time, back to the 19’s. I’m very dissatisfied. This is mainly because I’m wearing longer pants, with long sleeve shirts, and the extra weight from the clothing makes me overheated quickly. I really don’t mind running in the cold but, when I’m on the treadmill, I can run 2-3x as fast with less the hassle, and still achieve optimal times. I’ll do whatever you ask or tell me to do, but I wanted to know: Is it better for me to run on the mill(achieving my optimal time for my 3 miles), or should I continue running outside, even though my times have gotten worse?

    Jake, I am curious what happens to officers who ring the bell? Love your videos! Thanks for your vidoes.

    • @internet_internet
      @internet_internet Před rokem

      They’re never allowed back. Applies to all officers who ring out.
      They’ll either go back to their previous officer job/specialty, or they’ll get reassigned into a different Officer pipeline for the remainder of their contract/commission.
      AKA, they go to the Officer fleet.

    There's a old saying goes like this, many are called but a few are chosen especially when it comes to being in Navy SEALs, if I was a Navy Seal warrior, I would do whatever it takes to get it done, death before dishonor in my opinion. The moral of the story is if a guy who is in BUD/S training for Navy SEALs and he quit and rings the bell, then he is a quitter and earned his spots in the Navy scraping paint until he retires from the Navy. Those who quit BUD/S training are soft ass Americans

  • @jph164
    @jph164 Před rokem +1

    Teams guy say training is easier than the job and if those guys are complaining chipping paint, then they wouldn't have made good seals. Is it true that if you make it through all of seal training, that you can peered out before you graduate?

    • @internet_internet
      @internet_internet Před rokem

      If you get peered out at that stage, you’ll probably just get rolled to another class.
      Unless you have prior rolls/issues from previous classes. Then they’d drop you if you got peered.

    Question: I just contacted a Navy Officer recruiter about going SEALS. I have B.S. in electrical engineering and soon M.S. in materials science & eng. About 3.5 gpa in both. They saw this and asked me if I was interested in their nuclear program. I told them no thanks, SEALS only, but let's say I didn't make cut for SOAS. Would you recommend Army officer or Navy nuclear program?

    • @internet_internet
      @internet_internet Před rokem +2

      All depends on what specific profession that YOU want; if you want a profession of combat arms, or a different technical profession like the nuke program.
      If you want combat arms, Jake will tell you the same thing: GO ARMY INFANTRY OFFICER.

    • @internet_internet
      @internet_internet Před rokem +4

      Only if he previously qualified for a rate (mos) will he go back to it. (Serving in a job prior to going to bud/s)
      Otherwise, you’ll get reassigned if you go straight in with an SO contract and quit. The outcome of that reassignment is largely dependent on availability, timing, and ASVAB scores.
      Also, if you’re either lucky or good enough to be liked by the people in charge of the reassignment, maybe they’ll help you out. Maybe not.
