  • Hey guys!
A key to getting a good throw is to have a good run-up! Tomas sure has one and in this video he´s showing me, a disc golf beginner, how to do it.

I've been playing for almost 15 years and developed some bad habits.
These have been THE BEST instructional videos I've seen. It consistently goes from simple breakdowns to detailed correction of typical beginner mistakes. It's so much easier to break bad habits when I can understand not just what I'm doing wrong, but why it's happening.
10/10 series. I hope you keep doing these.

My dad had the same issue with stepping away from the "line" you want to follow. The solution to this unless you want to jump like you did in the attempt after that, is to actually put your right heel above the line on the second step (since you are doing a 4-step run up, left right left right) so your left toes is in the same level as your right heel on the ground. The reason for this is because your left foot will always end up behind the right foot when you are doing a X-step :) Super informative as always keep up the good work!

as a right hand thrower the last step is with the right foot. should i put my weight on the ball of the right foot for the body swing? i realised that Jonathan tends to put his weight on the heel and Tomas is maybe a bit more to the ball of the foot.

I'd say try to imitate what Tomas is doing (as a starting point and then go from there). I have no idea what I'm doing 😂. /jonathan

I want to know if you managed to throw further with a run up, Jonathan?

Hey. I´m not sure to be honest. Was very focused on just getting the steps right. But I got my eyes on making a video about that matter in the not so distant future 😀. Have a nice day and weekend.

@@Latitude64 I thought you night say that. It would be interesting to see you do a video of the difference between stand still and run up, in terms of control, accuracy and distance. I think I need to record myself do a run in slow motion, because I'm struggling to get more distance and I know that my run up isn't great, time to level up with my recoil 💪

I´m not sure really. I think I have to think about how to make it some what interesting to watch. So it´s not me failing for 45 minuts, haha. Do you have any suggestions? /Jonathan

Good things in a video. I would still argue with the second last step and try to make it closer to 90 degrees than 45 degrees? Or else you will lock your hip? 🤔

You keep lifting your front toe while in motion not releasing the disc whereas you should be pivoting on the balls of your toes you also need to keep your wrist straight like you're going to shake someone's hand once you know where the basket is you have to just follow through with proper technique
