  • Southwest Airlines takeoff from sunny Santa Ana. Because of the very short runway and noise abatement procedures, the pilots had to hold at the end of the runway and throttle to full power, which made for a pretty powerful acceleration once the breaks were released. Scared me the first time flying out of OC! When they throttle back and the airplane drops?!! I thought Oh my God this is it!! The man sitting next to me said " no worries..it's a noise thing!😀 My nephew Brad is a SW pilot!! He's a retired Coast Guard officer. Said he couldn't have made a better choice than to fly with Southwest!!...Plus I get to fly for free!!!😀 Always flew with Southwest before he was a pilot!

It’s because some people who bought houses near the airport can’t deal with the noise
