Congratulations young man your the first craftsman I’ve seen on CZcams from the USA that gets straight to the point on a demo thanks
Wow. A useful tip on CZcams clearly explained in just a few minutes-it’s like seeing a home run or something. Nice job! Subscribed!
My high school shop teacher showed me that tip when I was building a red oak dining room table with two leaves some 50 years ago. Some technology never needs to change.
I've seen it before too but I appreciate the details here, especially concerning a contractor saw...
Love this idea, now if I just had a bigger shop........
I have the same issue! I converted an added on room in (yes, in the house) our old farmhouse to use as my shop until I can build what I want. I have to get very creative with what seems, at times, a jigsaw puzzle of moveable carts/tables I’ve made for my miter saw, table saw, router table, etc. You do what you have to though! 🙂
This was fantastic. I've been struggling with even smaller pieces than that.
Now this is exactly what thinking outside the box is all about. Beautifully conceived and demonstrated … this is the kind of tip that has a real impact on the community, I’m impressed on several levels. CHEERS!
That clamping the sheet side is genius
This would also be useful to cut sheet goods at an angle. Or to cut sheet goods that have an irregular edge which will not run against a fence.. Thank you for sharing. Have a great day and stay safe.
This kind of, simple, can be a game changer.
I'd look at using an L fence to do what you are describing. You'll have to Google it.
I have watched countless hints n tips vids. But I can honestly say this is the BEST one I have ever seen. I'm sure in about a hundred years from now I would have thought it up myself 😁
I too own a RIGID contractors saw. That gap in the table is where I mounted a router. Using the original saw fence with an added-on section of wood to cover the router bit and afford vacuum for chip removal it works pretty good with no extra used space in the shop.
Man, you have one of the best ww channels in sense of smart high-quality working ideas and, definitely, the "sharpest" one. Love each your video.
An elegant solution to a timeless problem. Thank you!
Love this dude’s videos. Super concise and useful. I’ve been binging.
This saved my bacon last night. I can’t remember how long ago I saw this video (feels like it’s been a while) but last night when I needed my fence to go farther I removed it instead, used this trick, and thought of you Jodee. Thanks for this tip! It has stuck with me.
Good simple tip. Wish I saw this earlier before wasting time circular saw cutting pieces that were longer than my table saw rip. Thanks!
Thanks! Great way to demonstrate how to think outside the box. Makes perfect sense and is a great way to leverage basic principles into a practical and easy way to get work done. Love it!
I did this to my craftsman professional 10” saw…..what a great hack! Thanks so much!
I'm really glad you started making videos again. Excellent content!
Great tip! Now, you have to figure out a way to show us how to increase the width of my one-car garage 😎. I really enjoy your channel. No BS, just straight and great tips! Thanks!
Great method, saves oversized panel binding on the blade & wobbly cuts
Great tip on the saw thank you thank you for thinking outside the box 🙂🙂🙂
Excellent tip as usual. I have the Delta 36-725 contractor saw and have run into that situation a few times but next time I do I'll try this out.
Your metrology tricks are my favorite. Thanks!
This is a great little expansion for someone looking to get more out of an affordable saw.
For people looking at getting a contractor/jobsite saw, I recommend getting one with flat edges like this Rigid. The edges don't need to be perfectly flat to build an expansion table as show in this video.
I originally had a Dewalt jobsite saw with bizarre edges made simple expansions nearly impossible to create and attach. I had to settle for supports on the side.
On the same subject, buyers should look for a machine with a rip fence that is independently adjustable for parallelism. Two key assets!
Great idea! Another one of those "Why didn't I think of that?" moments.
This is extremely brilliant... was planning to invest on a bigger table... now shelved that plan...
great idea for me to use with my Ridgid saw. I learn something every day......
Excellent video. I instantly liked your style from your first video, this is yet another example of quality info, provided simply. Thank you, Jim H.
Wow! This was a great tip! I feel like a stoop for not knowing about this before now. You can bet I will be using it from now on! Thank you again for a clean, concise, high quality video. Best wishes for your continued success!
Love these tip videos! Once the snow melts, I'll be trying this!
That's a great tip. When it gets warmer, in 2-3 months, I'll add this to my cheap table saw.
Great tips, Jodee. Thanks for sharing!
Awsome! Cannot fathom out why i never thought of that. Big THANK YOU!
Sweet tip. Will def use it when cutting plywood.
LOVED this video! ❤ Thank you.
Absolutely brilliant! Thank you for this!
You are full of great tips that are simple but leave saying, why didn’t I think of that. Keep em coming please. Much appreciated!
this was very timely and easy to understand. great channel.
I have the dewalt bench top saw and have it built into a workbench making it tough to get a parallel runner on either side. LUCKILY if you have the dewalt at least you can extend the fence past your table and attach it upside down. Then you can clamp a straight edge to this even with the workbench top. This will also allow you to adjust the fence and worry less about measuring and just cut at your measurement line. Wouldn't have ever thought of this without your video! Thank you! one of the best tips I've learned on YT.
Good show ole boy/young man. I have been trying to come up with a simple way of EXACTLY what you were trying to accomplish. You did. I commend you. Thanks!
Genius idea, I will be using this one👍
Great idea! Thanks for sharing!
Mind Blown Thanks I also realized it would be a great way to true up a edge of some wavy material. Right on
Great tip! Thanks for sharing.
Brilliant! Simple, but Brilliant! Thank you!
Clever and simple. Thanks a lot mate. Cheers!
Brilliant.
I have the same saw.
Thanks, I’ll be using the idea.
This tip is perfect man...thanks!
One of the 'few' useful tips. Thanks for sharing. 👍
I have a tiny cheap table saw with useless guides, so this tip is very useful. (no need to build complex extensions to cut larger items)
By doing the same for the other side, I can also start using sleds (my saw does not have rails either). (You earned my subscription. 😉)
Keep up the great work!! Your style and content are wonderful!
Great tip, thanks for sharing it.
Great video, really needed this. Wish I had seen this 6 months ago.
That's brilliant. Thank you.
You continue to amaze me!
You have excellent presentation skills. I really appreciate that. You've earned another subscriber.
Brilliant! I have the exact same Rigid table saw.
Thank you. Excellent idea.
Great tip, thanks for sharing
A terrific and thoughtful technique, as always! @1:25, use best practices and rotate the blade enough to measure from the same tooth each time. This is not fussiness beyond the tolerances of a tape measure; error can creep in in several ways besides the flatness of the blade plate (which should never be expected). The arbor may have a slight bend, or more likely the arbor flange is trued to very loose tolerance. The point being that you want to true up to the actual cutting plane, not how the blade appears to be, sitting on the arbor. Keep up the great work!
I think this comment deserves more likes. You're absolutely correct. I've noticed an ever so slight wobble on my newer DeWalt contactor saw, but which was WAY better than the ridiculous Hercules table saw wobble I got at Harbor Freight. I could literally see the wobble in the arbor. This made for such poor cuts that I returned it.
Even a 1/16” discrepancy in the blade plane over the span of a large piece would be a huge error.
Nice tip. Whish I had known the when I built a large desk for my son = we used a skill saw and cut it really slowly without a guide board. It all came out ok, but this trick would have made it much easier and cleaner. Love your videos and how you teach.
Great tips - and well-presented. Thanks.
Great presentation!
Thank you for this very informative video.
Brilliant. I have saved this for when I actually get a table saw
I would never have thought of this!
I used this trick just yesterday 🙂... Of course, I learnt it from you from a video from a few days ago!!
Nice method ! and you just reminded me i need to rewax my table top. Cool !
Awesome hack. I'll be using this in the future
Excellent tip!!
Well done Sir
Good tip. Thanks
You just saved my bacon! I’m stuck on the next step of a project where I need to make a >25” cut on a saw identical to yours. Thank you!
Wonderful video and knowledge! Thank you!
Great idea the will be installing it to ton my saw
Thx
Very helpful.
Wft...never thought about that....This is a game changer!!!!!
Cool idea, thanks.
Really good idea! Wish I had thought of that
That's super smart. I have a contractor saw, but mines much bigger, cast iron top, 200lb saw without the wings I think, but they still call it a contractor saw (Delta 36-725) . I think the one in the vid would be classifieds as a jobsite saw.
Ingenious. If you have to do this on a semi-regular basis there are guide clamps which have cam lock levers which would speed up the process.
You come up with so many amazing tips that have help me many times. I have a question or perhaps, a request…. When working with moldings, any ideas or tips on accurately cutting returns on material that say is a baseboard or finer trim pieces.
Very interesting thanks for sharing
Great safety advice for what potentially is the most dangerous tool in the shop.
Great video. Thanks
That's a brilliant idea, dude! 😃
Thanks a lot for sharing!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
That was fantastic. Thank you!!!
Awesome idea!
Awesome tip, if I didn't know better I'd say this video is directed only to me. Thank you and love your videos.
Good tip thanks
Great tip.
Amazing, thanks for this very usefull tip!
well done video, cheers, Paul
Thank you
Incredibly clever, earned my sub
Very useful, thank you 👍
Nice Job im lucky my table is a lot bigger but I will keep that in mind if I ever need it and for someone with a smaller table they should do that because I can see it will work great for them
What a GREAT idea!!!!
I have the same saw but I think yours was a better version... Can't wait to upgrade!
What an awesome idea!!
Solid job
