(Pre-Fenrir IV) Tikilen Cup w/ Commentary [Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent]

- The Tikilen Cup has been out for a couple weeks now. While a good number of you guys have been able to clear her, I still wanted to upload a sample run to give you guys an idea of what to expect, as well as give you a glimpse of what I'm thinking about when I tackle this difficult fight! I'll be using only equipment that are available currently in the English version of the game to keep things fair, of course :)

My favorite part of this fight is the announcer saying TIIIIIKIIIILENNNNN with a lot of energy
One of the things I really like about COTC so far is how there's a very diverse mix of how to approach difficult fights. I personally made it more of a priority to get the top add down first, and sort of ignored when I broke the middle add. I felt that as soon as the middle add was restoring shields and the top add was gone, I was super safe, so I prioritized getting to that asap.
Watching an aoe centric approach where you can damage both adds broken at the same time was a lot of fun, and I can see where that would work better for a lot of people.
Very helpful as usual! ❤ Kudos for choosing mainly 4* stars. My biggest "lesson learned" after beating her several times is to resist the urge of going wild with DPS. It's worth sacrificing damage in favor of stabilizing the team (re-apply regen, buff, debuff, taunt etc). Otherwise it always bites me in the butt and someone gets KO 😩
started playing 2 weeks ago (casually) and i cant wait to be ready for this fight someday soon! :3 I found your videos a lil while ago and they really helped me understand a few of the game mechanics better. Keep up the good work
As long as you got at least three hunters you can run with it and got adequate healing from Theo and a cleric for extra emergency healing the rest is up to you for the first clear. I did it 6 5*s and the 2 out of 3 the 4* hunters he used.
Great video, as usual. I'm taking it easy by fighting her 2 times a day for her Gold Guidestones, since I got her Exclusive Accessory on Day 2.
We'll get our latest update by Tomorrow, and I'm excited for Donescu/Bestower of Power I.♥️

Would you be willing to do another video without a 5* with Regen all? I lacked Theo and I think that made the fight significantly harder for me, but I got her.
Wow! Great video. I watch the battle before, but listening to your strategies adds something that is interesting!!
Also, it makes me think about that I still need farming and upgrading haha 'cause I couldn't pass from semi-finales.

One question, Viola could replace Kurtz? But instead of the double shield breaker equip the fire shield breaker...
Absolutely, Viola can be used instead of Kurtz :)
I chose Kurtz for this video specifically as a budget alternative for people who don't have Viola!
Really appreciate this commentary with a team that I actually have access to! Do you also have an EN account? Curious how that holds up without the extra stats from levels and awakenings. I brought all my 4 star hunters to A3, but they still occasionally get unlucky 1 shots, even with a tank and Ramona heals + regen every turn. Thinking I might try Mabel and Meena as well as they seem to help out much more than a tank does

I imagine after so much time and investment in JP it'd be draining to start over again and keep up with both

Also you put an ST heal on Lucetta's skill setup instead of 3x Bow (not that it isn't clear just letting you know)

don't have awaken III on some units yet, and feels like ramona & menno & camilla all have to work hard to keep -permanently stuck at- 4* viola safe instead of doing other things... so gonna awaken kurtz but that will take quite a while.
Shizukats! Won the tourney with the 4*s & lynette, your guide invaluable. Was a tense buff n debuff slog but all units survived and Kurtz FTW! Cheeeers;)
4 months later, I have finally managed to beat Tikilen!
Still haven't managed to defeat her, I probably can since I have some pretty good units around lvl80, but Tikilen just kinda scares me, but watching you do it with 4* stars is really reassuring.
It's day 49 of playing COTC without Cyrus, but a new update comes in around 30 minutes so imma start praying🙏
You can do it, as i managed to beat her only using 3 *5 which are viola,lynette, and haanit, while the rest are *4..
Do you think taking a 4.5* Therese is a better option than an A3 Mabel? Mabel seems to have more utility but she gives you single AOE with less power for the lightning attacks.
The main advantage to running an A3 Mabel over a 4.5* Therese is the survivability. 4.5* Therese is significantly more likely to get KO'd.
Is there a 4 star substitute for Theo? Also can I put Primrose instead of one of the dancers? Great video!
Considering Theo's role as a Regen caster, the 4* substitutes (Cedric and Menno) have significantly weaker Regens that also cannot be extended by using BP (since they're Heal+Regen in a single skill, using BP makes the heal stronger but doesn't do anything to the Regen).
If you want to try using either of them, I would recommend bringing along a STRONG healer (Millard/Hasumi/Eliza) to supplement that lack of good Regen, and potentially a strong tank as well such as Gilderoy. I would expect the fight to last much longer as well as a result.
In this particular setup, you would use Primrose to replace Lynette. Both Mabel and Meena are in roles that Primrose does not fulfill.

Either can work, use whichever you like best :)
You don't necessarily have to wait for EXACTLY Theo, but you'll definitely want a 5* Regen caster (later ones that may come out soon are Molrusso, Lyummis, or Soleil. This is purely speculation though, of course).

With Odette now released with a 3-hit light, 2-hit light AOE, and 1-hit light ST nuke, how does this change team comps going forward?
I would still want the overall shape of the composition to be the same (4-5ish Attackers, 1 Debuffer, 1 Regen, 0-1 Auxiliary Healers) but Odette replaces the weakest attacker from before.
Can you do this fight anytime later on or limited time? Thanks!
Arenas are permanent content, you can fight anytime! :)
Do you need to complete the story to approach the tikilen cup?
Yes, current story needs to be completed to access the Tikilen fight.

It should be her 3-hit single-target + 160 Nuke + 1-hit AoE w/ Def Down! xP
feels so weird listening to a fight with the voices enabled lol.
Also, I notice that a couple of your 4 stars have awakening IV, which as far as I know isn't available right now on any non-5* units in GL right now - do they just get unique awakening IV accessories the same way the 5*s do?
I didn't even know there was an option to turn the voices off. Haha. It's basically white noise for me after playing this game for 2 months.
@@goldman77700 I only even downloaded them to get past the crash bug with Therese's prologue when not having them - tried them for one fight and then turned them off haha

Yes, each 4* has a unique Awakening IV accessory just like 5*s.
However, they are weaker (but still strong) - 5* accessories have 140 stats whereas 4* accessories have 70.
