Arranging the party in OT2 so that their names spell OCTOPATH was a nice touch.
I noticed that too. The small details help make this game great.
Galdera’s theme feels hopeless, despair. You’re fighting an otherworldly foe that’s far above your pay grade and would have no problem obliterating the travelers, as evidenced by how difficult Galdera is in both games.
Vide on the other hand feel intense, the travelers knowing they must do all they can and by the second phase when they all team up it feels more like they know it’ll be their last fight together and they will win no matter what.
It’s interesting you say that… because I think those tones are contrary to their battle tactics.
Galdera plays defensively, locking his weak points behind ravenous souls or his own armored body. He wants to rule the world, to consume it, and insists on remaining healthy enough to do so.
Vide plays more offensively, summoning multiple hands to attack independently, then two enormous arms that force debilitating curses on the party. He wants to _destroy_ the world, and he’ll do it with his last breath if necessary:
Vide just does not care about defense lol
There's a reason why it takes longer to defeat Galdera than Vide, as someone once said, "the best offense is a good defense" the opposite is true as well, but that's for specific scenarios, and not in the case of Vide.
I love how the thumbnail is just an eyeball with Vide's arms.

I struggled a lot longer against him in the first game. I think because I was able to coast through the first game without truly understanding the nuances of the “secret” and secondary jobs. Then, I got to galdera hilariously overconfident. In the second game, I KNEW there was going to be a superboss so i played with that in mind
@@zalden2565 yeah actually i had a near identical experience, i went through the first game entirely oblivious to the inner workings of the game and the concept of team building as a whole. needless to say galdera had no trouble humbling me in seconds, i ended up doing an entire second playthrough before i beat him. surprisingly in spite of how i knew there was going to be a literal god awaiting me a journey's end, none of my preparations were enough on my first playthrough of the second game. my team was actually more than enough to beat the boss, i simply lacked knowledge. given a fair amount of practice and study about how certain moves and items work (especially alpione's amulet and finisher's claws) i was able to best galdera :>
yeah i got into that fight and thought " i beat him last tiem. how hard can it be".. well party wipe out in 5 minutes :D
@@caitilyYep. In my first playthrough of the first game, I breezed through the game with a barely put-together team with no coherent strategy. The sequel I broke over my knee.
While Vide's theme is absolute fire, I feel like Galdera's is still my favorite. The feeling of doom and hopelessness just hits too hard, and they made it even better in OT2.
I really like what they did with the end game. Especially once you cross the “point of no return.” I don’t think they were going for this necessarily, but it really gave me FF6 WoR vibes. It was great!

Prob they gonna utilize more of the 8 party combination or added more protagonist in the"traveler"

Odio isn't come from champion of continent. It's from another traveler game called Live A Live with a same concept like Octopath Traveler. The three were dark lords that were destined to fought against 8 travelers

they really nailed Vide's theme, that phase 1 theme is crazy 11:52 and that bit right after just hits so good

While not being a part of Vide's Phase 1 Theme, this section from 14:47 outwards is astonishingly good. The amount of times I returned to this track just to hear that one part is more than what I'd like to admit.

Galdera's fine but is poorly implmeneted into the story and is a fairly generic 'evil god' ultimately
but VIde's presence is all over the second game, as its ultimately the god of nihilism, of denying there being any point to a future, while the protagonsits each are about moving forward

@@GalderaVG the secret bosses were endgame and post-game for most people, also aside from haanit and the scholar, the rest of travelers barely have a connection with galdera, he may have been the inciting being for the events for the travelers but he had no presence, his actions were done near the beginning and we just saw faint traces without even knowing they were traces
On the other hand almost every route in octo 2 has some sort of significance tied to video, from ochettes other animal going corrupted with the power of darkness, there's always an element of him present in the climax of the routes, thus we understand better that this is the menacing bad guy at the end of everything
@@prozorozo Note spoilers for any here: All 8 travelers in 1 have a connection to Galdera through Redeye, ie. Tressa has redeye's journal when he was known as Graham who cured Alfyn since his wife passed before he could get the cure to her.
Edit: Tressa's journal, formerly Graham's, was stolen by the 4th final boss because she thought it would give her hints about where he is, she was working for Lyblac basically also she had a crow (Simon's people) on her sprite iirc.
The stones that Therion had to steal back were legit the things sealing the gate of finis and as for Olberic his whole past has to do with bringing back the gate of finis hence why the area you teleport to in 1 is the ruins of hornburg.
When it comes to Ophilia, Galdera is legit name-dropped by Matthew (later renaming himself Mattias as ehe Lyblac gave both him and Prince Simon, primrose's final boss, eternal youth) and the sacrifices made the fire black/vide flame color, which for me begs the question, are Vide and Galdera connected.
As for Primrose, her main connection is just through the black crows/Simon which was connected back to Lyblac.
You touched on this with "scholar", Cyrus (just touching on it in slight detail) was connected via the "From the far reaches of Hell" book which legit is a guide on how to use galdera's powers, through sacrificial stuff (like with Ophilia), which turns the headmaster and Lucia(?) into monsters kind of like how Vide's power turned the one girl in the 3rd part of Temenos's story (the one on ochette's story quest begin island) into a monster (vide & galdera connected?).
H'aanit's connection is through Redeye A.K.A Graham the father of Kit, that's about it lol
And that's about it, honestly H'aanit is the least connected since by this point Redeye can't even speak so unless you read the journal entries (which would be in Tressa's hands normally, but you read them after defeating the boss roulette before Galdera)
which is the only way you would even find out Redeye is Graham. Anyway that's it for my little tangent if you're curious where the info about Mattias (matthew) and Simon being a prince came from it's in the Octopath Traveler Official guide's timeline even mentioning when each of the Travelers were born.
One more thing since I peppered in my own questioning about Vide and Galdera being connected in some way. Lyblac gave both Mattias and Simon eternal youth without being descended from the one guy that was stopped by the one tribe mentioned in both Temenos's and the uh guy who wanted revenge on Harvey. Which means there is two ways to gain eternal youth (unless of course that one mage the guy is descended from also met with lyblac idk) either meet Lyblac and learn how to do so (most likely through more "from the far reaches of hell" shenanigans") or be a descendent of the one mage and drink Vide's blood.
