Thank you sooooo much I dropped a game case on the open tray and instantly looked at my warranty. It was up so I looked and found this video. I didn't have any fancy hook and pick so I used the nail file on my toe nail clippers. Fixed it up didn't even have to take the tray out.
Great advice, thank you. I used a long(ish) thin kitchen knife, lifted the catch on the left so the drawer would pull forward slightly, but didn't take it out. Then the same knife underneath the drawer pushed the peg over to the right, held it there and pushed the drawer back in. You can now manually move the drawer in and out. power on to test. hey presto. Thanks again.
While trying to take the tray out, I accidentally discovered that if you pull the right side out just enough, you can move the right tab over without having to take the tray out! The life of my 2 yr old daughter shall continue.Kudos.
Worked well for me, I used a med size paper clip. I was able to push up the tab to release the whole tray from the underside of the tray (i couldn't get to it from the top), and held the peg over with the paperclip while I pushed the tray back in. Thank you so much for this video!!
This process worked for me better when I laid the Xbox flat and followed the rest of the directions. I had to force the tray in a bit for it to snap in to place. Thanks!!!!!!!

I coudl even fix it without removing the tray, just pushing the knob (aka "peg") to the right by pulling a little bit the door back on the right, pushing the knob to the right and reinserting. Worked like a charm without an hassle of a complete dismantling. thanks again ! And seven years after the comment below, it also stopped my son crying ;)

BEST VIDEO for fixing a stuck tray. Thank you!! Watched a few and this was by far the easiest - ended up fixing in five minutes. A tip for those who may not have tried the fix yet. I had NO LUCK with any screwdriver I tried (and I'm not all that sure what the poster used). I was finally ably to easily fix using a crochet hook! The size I used is 1/2.75 mm. It's one of the smaller ones. As soon as I switched to using this I was able to fix it in less than 5 minutes!! HTH others in the future. Happy New Year all!!! 😀
My 2 year old pulled the tray out too far and my husband was so mad but he pulled out his tool bag and went to poking around I got nervous with all those big tools thinking they damage it so he thankfully gave up amd i found this video this morning and i fixed it myself thank u soooo much

OMG THANK YOU I looked all over for a fix & was about to give up when I found this. My husband had just set up his new xbox. Our 2 yr old did something to the tray. It was stuck about 1/4" open. I was able to manually pull it open, then used this video to fix it. BTW when I looked in it, it looked like that knob was pushed all the way over. I had tried everything else so I figured why not at least try taking the tray out & doing this. So with mine I had to do exactly what you did in the video.

Got this done pretty quickly using a small flathead screwdriver; thanks! For anyone confused about the "tab" and "peg" locations on your system, you can see the peg moving left/right as you move the tray in/out, and the tab will pop up in a small opening on the back-left-end of the tray. Took some up/down wiggling and pulling to get the tray completely out. Thanks again!

Great fix saved me a ton of stress. I had a bit of trouble getting it in I thought the peg went into the round slot that looks designed for it, but it goes in the track to the right. My only problem is the tray opens and goes slightly to the right, and it feels almost fragile. At least it functions! Thank you.
Excellent video! I found that after I pulled my tray out, there is a tiny tab in the back, right in the middle that pushes the pin all the way to the right so you can slide the tray back in easily. Thanks for your submission!
