@Lawrence Kenshin Striking Breakdowns Wow, you’re knowledge of masterful fighters & research is honestly 2nd to none! Thanks 🙏 for reminding us of the incredible Black Bruce Lee & his feats
TOUGH DUDE
That spinning back fist was putting folks to-SLEEP. ASAP. LOL.And so was his spinning back kicks.
Can't believe I haven't seen him before. Thanks again Lawrence for introducing another legend. His timing and athleticism is off the charts. Bruce Lee must've been proud. 49-0 in title defences and 88 knockouts is just ridiculous.
I'm ready to throw only spinning back fists, spin kicks, side kicks in training from now on.

He had a proven fight record so already you cant compare them.
I’m so glad I’m not the only person who feels this way. Gibson is actually in a class by himself. Call him by his name.
@@jerl7320 lol, on CZcams, people often forget that Bruce Lee was a movie star and not an actual fighter. But yes Bruce Lee was in shape, but not like a person who actually fights in the ring
I really feel that Manson Gibson has been criminally underated. I believe that he needs to be highly elevated by the Martial Arts community and given the recognition he deserves. The training and the hardwork along with the motivation and passion this man has put in to be virtually undefeatable is unsurpassed. There also needs to be a lifetime achievement award given to this man who cares about kids and is helping them at no cost. He rates several different awards that apparently have not been given to him. He was a truly mechanized warrior in the ring and nothing could stop him. Thank you for showing us this video and hopefully you have more videos on him including full fights and even explanations. Thanks again ! A friend always !
I totally agree, he was considered unautodoz and blasting the very best at their trade in the ring. He is more than a legend.
I dear to say, because he was black.
Martial Arts is a AFRICAN ART to begin with! It's origins are GUNG FU, which is an actual AFRICAN term! The Asians called it KUNG FU, but the art was established in Africa! Master China from X-Clan was the first to tell me that.
@@youtubeillegallydeletesacc1525 huh? Martial arts is a collection of combat sports from around the world. How did only Africa come up with Martial Arts?
I think like the Drunken Master Emmanuel Augustus, when your style is too weird or wacky, the respect level (that you deserve and SHOULD recieve) is reduced or taken away..
Exactly I never heard of him
It's a shame that it took me over 55 years to find out about this legend. It really should be of no surprise, considering the media and those who hide the truth. That was great brother, I thank you for this in every way. Continue the great work.

Gibson is something else man. To stand with Hoost brings it to a whole other level. Incredible.
To stand with Hoost AND arguably won. Never forget that.
Manson Gibson uses Taekwondo. It has nothing to do with the martial art that Bruce Lee uses. He seems to mainly use Taekwondo's kicks. It seems that he learned Taekwondo from a very young age. But in the USA, anything not blasted in your face by mainstream media always fails to garner the respect of the general population smh. What an absolutely LEGENDARY Fighter. A guy who won a Muay Thai tournament without knowing Muay Thai is so ridiculously legendary lol I respect Muay Thai a lot and to win with Kung Fu movie style moves is just I mean.... he should have a blockbuster film about his title defense run. I think this is both the best and single most important and inspiring video you have ever made by far. He bested Hoost, just narrowly in my opinion. The class and audacity alone and to eat so many Hoost nut knockers and get up. I wouldn't have thought possible. Master blaster - What a legend.
thanks for the support Gabriel
Lost from Hoost, so he didn't bested him as you say.
Hoost is my all time favorite kickboxer, but I also think Gibson should have gotten that decision. He scored a clean side kick knockdown that was waved off. The same way that some refs don’t acknowledge low kicks, side kicks are also disregarded. Both are effective and both hurt.

I've heard the term " master blaster" before but never knew it came from this Legend Manson Gibson...thank you for this!
I have to admit I was not aware of Mason Gibson. Absolutely amazing. I agree this man does not deserve to be forgotten. Talk about a highlight reel.
It goes to show that most people who discourage spinning techniques are those who have either not mastered them, or is not within their style repertoire. But someone who has trained them to the point that they can...well...be like water...they can make them work in the right context.
glad you know him now!
Mason Gibson? That's a Master Baiter, Muay Thai champion w/o ever practicing Muay Thai.
Yes, I agree with the OP, the people that speak out against spinning techniques or any other kind of technique haven't mastered it to the level of a person like this man right here, so, they shouldn't speak out against it. They don't know what they're talking about, and so they just wanna influence others with their nonsense. Obviously, you have to know what you're doing when attempting techniques like this, they can be really effective when you know what the hell you're doing! 😆 This man, Mason Gibson, obviously knows what he's doing in watching these video highlights, and is very effective with spinning kicks and back fists. So, yeah, never listen to others who give negative advice, go work at it and do it yourself or train yourself to do it, and then put it to the test! Peace!
Manson, not Mason.
If you want to remember the man at least get his name right 😂😂
I Totally Agree With You.This Is a Perfect example of [not to be political, but honest] why the U.S and the world in general must "Never Forget" OURSTORY and the countless Great Contributors that if more People knew about. Would make the America/World fuller, richer ,Knowledgeable!

I feel deprived of the opportunity to cheer this man on during my childhood. It's a shame he was not made mainstream. We should have been told about and shown this man in the Wide World of Sports.
I've always admired that back kick. I wouldn't want to be in the way of it. He seems to have mastered using it properly.
This fighter definitely reminds me that for some rare individuals, the style really does not matter.
yes, that is wise. For most though, the style does matter.
It's not that it "doesn't matter" lol there ARE some useless martial arts out there, tkd isn't one of them: they knock each other out in training all the time. He seemed to be innovating a lot, just making stuff up out of thin air. However, his money moves were all TKD kicks for KOs.

What an interesting style.
So so rare to make it work as effectively as this against such a pedigree of opponents who are exponents of arguably more powerful fighting styles.
This is a wow fighter. Another amazing video Lawrence thank you

You can just feel those round house body shot kicks. Straight Street fighter style
What a legend, I'm honored to have learned about this amazing legendary warrior. What an inspiration 💯🙏🏾
Man, so much of his technique looks so random, but when things landed, it was always in a crucial spot. What a fighter!
And how quickly he could do some of those backflips just showed supreme athleticism and explosiveness. Wow!
Fighting is all about landing and not how pretty you look. Like bruce lee says, Fighting shouldn't have a style. I think lots of professional fighters would've been better if they don't go with the rules from their coach.
Yes coach is there to teach you, but i think most of the time they hold u back when u are Fighting. Fighting should be with no style and concentrate on landing, instead of learning style. Different opponents have different style and your style will always will get stopped against other style.
That was philosophy of Bruce Lee
@@amariza21 you truly missed Bruce Lee's point. Water flows to any given path no matter how beautiful or destructive. Whether flashy or looking good after executing his fights, that was his(Manson)path.

Sometimes when you're talented to that extent then you can have such an unorthodox style. Naseem Hamed is another example of that.

The only thing is when they fight someone skilled in the basics who has comparable talent they struggle.
@rico14 there is def. Something to be said for a strong set of fundamentals. I think this is key to AL Iaquintas' amazing success.
I'm no judge, but the accuracy of the kick at the end of a flurry of spinning fists was pretty impressive. You can see how he's snapping that spinning fist right before it lands. It uncoils. He's not just swinging his fist at the end of his outstretched arm, like a lot of those old PKA guys did.
I can see why he's called the Black Bruce Lee, because his fighting contains elements of many styles, but is 100% tailored to his needs.
Once he's stunned the opponent, he's classic slugger. He probably wouldn't do that without the gloves, but you can see the power and how he's just naturally putting his weight into the blows. Total natural. I can see why he was so dominant and also why no one could do what he did and survive.
Too bad he fought so long ago. Would be nice to see him in MMA, without those big boxing gloves on.
I remember him. He was big back then. Everyone wanted his style.
Dany Bill was the first Black European fighter to win the world title in Thailand against Den Muang Surin and went on to beat many Muay thai champions all over thailand..many consider Dany Bill the greatest western fighter to compete in Thailand.. Thank you for this video. The man is a technical monster
As a kid living in the South side of Chicago. I was a student of judo and karate and was introduced to Manson from some kid’s in my neighborhood. They wanted us to fight so they could get some thrills. We were introduced to each other and got to talking about various styles of martial arts. We became friends and often trained together. His style is Chicago street style and the last time I saw him he told me that he was fighting international tournaments. He really is a good and humble guy. I’m blessed to have known him as a grammar school kid involved in the martial arts.
I read an article in Black Belt magazine about Manson Gibson in the late 1990s. I didn't know what to think because there wasn't alot of videos of him in the 1990s.
But, once You Tube came out and people started posting more of his videos, I saw that he was the real deal! I thought he was just talking shit, but that was muay thai legend Ernesto Hoost that he was fighting in this video....
Manson also doesn't look like a heavyweight, but Ernesto was a heavyweight and Manson was fighting him. He didn't care about weight or size, he took them all on! 💯
yup there was a big size difference there!
Just further proof that what actually can be put to use and be effective is entirely up to the potential of the individual martial artist, I’ve always believed it’s not about styles, it’s about individuals and their intelligence and abilities
Raw athleticism rivals skill, in combination one becomes a deadly weapon.
I love the way he fights, so glad there‘s finally a vid about him
thanks kevin

Looked him up in Wikipedia and was surprised to see he had many losses as well, which is surprising since he looks so unbeatable and invincible in this breakdown video. Scary fighter.
Wow, what a Legend with a powerful style and philosophy! This is what I like about old school fighters, they all had strong beliefs of what it meant to be a fighter, sticking to specific styles, a combination of styles, or just pure expression of self. It is so sad that we often ignore the achievements of some of these Greats who have dominated their times. Imagine all the ones whose exploits have never been documented (caught on film).
