  • Today the XL Bully legislation comes into full effect. Owners of XL bully dogs have until midday to register their pets or they risk losing them and a criminal record.
Dog trainer and XL bully owner Kay Taiwo feels the new rules might lead to more attacks because the dogs won't get the exercise they need.

Bring on the parents of all the dog breeds that have injured a child. I was bit in the face by a springer spaniel, my brother was bit by a Dalmatian. My sister had a Rottweiler that was super aggressive. I own an American Bully and I know my dog well enough to know he will never hurt a child….or anyone! Ever! I am a responsible owner, any dog can be aggresive, be smart, socialize your dog from a young age. Don’t reward aggresive behavior. The ban has not come soon enough! People complaining need to stop for a minute and think about the damage these dogs have done. I guarantee if anyone opposed to the ban had been attacked themselves or lost a child or loved one to an XL bully attack they w ould have a very different view.
The sheer size and capabilities of these dogs makes them too much of a risk to be in public: coupled with their incredible tolerance for pain, they are near impossible to stop.
This breed along with some of the large mastiffs like the Cane Corso and Presa Canario are totally unsuitable for suburban living, as are many the livestock guardians like the Kangal. The dangerous dog act must be revised to encompass more of these breeds.

All you need to know is to look at the number of reports of people being killed by pit bulls in the USA where the breed isn't banned, and compare it to the UK. Unlike feelings, facts work and the safety of the rest of the population matters more than the feelings of a select few who don't care about how others get hurt by these dogs.

Suppose people could breed their cats to look like big cats, with huge muscles and claws, and make them more aggressive. Some would use them for cat fights, just like some did with XL bullies. These monster cats would go around mauling dogs and people, sometimes even killing them. But of course, some cat lovers would defend them, saying it's all the owners' fault. They would swear that their XL kitties are just misunderstood and cuddly.

That is why we have small dogs only. Big dogs don't belong in cities or towns because they are densely populated and they won't be happy just sitting around and waiting for walks compared to being in the countryside doing what they were bred to do like herding sheep and cattle and protecting livestock. However, no one should have bred fighting dogs in the first place. I never pay for a dob because there are millions of dogs and cats in kennels but if someone pays big money for a pedigree then they are definitely going to be responsible for their purchase just as we do with a mortgage or vehicle.

Why would any sane person want a dog that makes people feel uncomfortable. It’s not like we are saying they can’t have a dog? Inverse correlation between the size of the dog’s head and the owners IQ.

@david-pb4bi you just answered your own question.Bcause they make people feel intimidated and uncomfortable. If the dog owner is entering a situation where they could be attacked, its much less likely with Bully in tow. By that I mean your typical drug dealer/gangster type.
