Such a crazy game. I remember how i saved up the best side quests for the end, after the main story. The paranormal island sure gives me scary nostalgis.
I grew up playing this game as a way to REBEL against my parents for being so strict on what games i would play, i would make it seem that this is just a racing game because i knew all the fast cars, every location and had maxed out nearly everything, This game makes my childhood really shine. Makes me miss 2010, ive come along way to get here.
There's a ton of games that I go back to simply for the nostalgia
i was 12 when this came out. the nostalgia is so strong i wanna cry right now LMAO. this was the first violent game i ever 100% completed, i spent so many hours in it
Probably the best game ever to me. I played it back when it came out in 2010 I think it was. Great. Better than a majority of the games out today!

Imo the graphics of Just Cause 2 still look pretty good even 14 years later. When this game came out a 14 year old game would have been from 1996! It would be like comparing Just Cause 2 to Super Mario 64! While a current game from 2024 certainly looks better than Just Cause 2 it is no where no near the leap in graphics as it was from 1996 to 2010. Graphics were advancing like crazy back in the 90s and 2000s. Things have slowed down a lot. Now a game from 2018 doesn't really look much different from a 2024 game. Used to be a few years was a huge leap, for example in the Super Nintendo came out in 1991. Five years later the N64 was released. Then just 4 years after that Shenmue for the Dreamcast came out. The difference from 1990 to 2000 was The Secret of Monkey Island compared to Shenmue! Where as nowadays a 10 year old game doesn't really look all THAT much different from a current game.
Yes exactly, compared to what came before the graphics are amazing when considered in that context.
Personally graphics never make or break a game for me, and if I sound too critical it's just that the perspective of the review is for someone coming into today for the first time, so the graphics are considered from the context of how it compares to modern games.
When I make my reviews I'm trying to just show what it is today, without the time period context so that it is applicable to anyone picking it up, whether they can remember a time all the way back to the atari (like me lol) or earlier, or if they are much younger and have only experienced new cutting edge graphics/games but are curious about ones that came out a little while ago.

I still play it, because my laptop spec is too old, but this game is played very smooth on my i3 5005 and r5 m330. Im still amazed with how big the maps on this game and the graphic is still good in 2023

Mecenaries 2 World in Flames was a good game. Just Cause series never copied the airstike and full building destruction.
Not sure if it's the implication in the comment, but I didn't say it did. When I bring up mercenaries I mentioned that they have similarities, especially with the hijacking/vehicles

9:45 kind of a bad take, unless you also hate Spider-Man and Batman based video games, and then at least you're staying consistent.
I didn't say I hated it, but I'm not a fan of of grappling hooks/don't really enjoy this particular aspect. Never got into the Spiderman games, and there's a bunch of other things in batman to carry it. I think I remember grappling hooks in batman (it's been a long time since I played one) but it's not what I found memorable from the game, as compared to the gliding and combat.
Ive always compared this to far cry or mercenaries
