Hey there! I used to own one of these motors a lifetime ago. I did a search just because I liked the motor and I'm a curious guy. I'm liking your video making style. It's part mental note to yourself, part video breakdown for an audience and the rest is a stream-of-conscience that is very appealing to my thought process. You also delve in to machining which is my second favorite CZcams vice. You are to videos what Michael Savage is to talk radio. I've listened to him since '98 and I love his style. Forget the political talk, Michael is like jazz for the mind. You have the same style applied to a different medium. Can't wait to see the internals of one of my favorite nautical power plants!

I'm rebuilding a 1973 Mercury 1500 thunderbolt 150 horsepower is the horsepower I am planning on replacing the spark plug wires with new aftermarket ones. Did you ever remove the spark plug wires from the bottom of the distributor cap?
I can't figure out how they come off it says they do not pull off.

The plug wires screw into the cap. They might be stuck and need pliers to start them turning.

Have a merc 100 horse. Runs but always dies out at low speeds. Won’t idle at all. Any ideas?😅

@@gkrocks6252 couple things come to mind. Partially clogged passages in idle circuit of carburetor(s). Also could be weak fuel pumps. Also check for simple things like clogged vent on the fuel tank or a faulty primer bulb.

@@stevewatr I'll give that a try! Thanks. Won't start without choke after it dies either.

@@stevewatr cleaned carbs runs pretty good now. Although now it doesn’t pump much water..put new impeller in. Pumps some on hose but none in lake. Had power head off at 1 point..did I miss something when I reassembled? Really striking out with this one..lol

@@gkrocks6252 now youre really taxing my memory. I think there is a seal it the top of the tube that runs from the power head down to the pump housing. Maybe that fell out?
