    Hey Axel Great guide! Was succinct and comprehensive for a new player learning the details.
    I wanted to add to a few things you touched on,
    Doubleshot, unlike doublestrike has benefit going past 100%. 100% is effectively two hits for melee but for ranged builds every bit past 100 is that much more chance for an additional hit. 200% doubleshot would be 3 hits!
    Fortification is a tough stat to cover without looking at formulas but i would like to mention that theres many ways a monster can bypass your fortification and critically strike you. The three most important things to look out for are :
    1. Monster weapon type (monsters that dual wield or stuff such as lions or sealions have natural fortification bypass)
    2. Champions, Hard Elite and Reaper difficulties have champion monsters, and some bypass fortification
    3. Monster Level (CR), raid bosses, red names or even being underleveled fighting high level monsters will all have increased chance of critically striking you
    Also to add something not mentioned, "strikethrough" is a stat used on Two Handed Fighting builds, and allows you to cleave/hit targets near your main target. With 100% chance always hitting 2 targets and additional % increasing to 2 to 3 to 4 targets with a high enough score.
    Similarly for builds with two single handed weapons, theyll benefit from "offhand strike chance". A percentage chance to attack to have an additional attack added to it from your offhand weapon. Offhand strike chance won't be useful over 100% but your offhand strikes will benefit from your doublestrike chance! Albeit at a 50% effectiveness.

    This was a really great guide for new players, and even some things for experience players.
    However, that said, you missed some very very important details in certain places. For example, on the enhancements tab, you should have really covered that as you put points into an active ability, you have to drag that ability back to the bar if it is a multi point selector that you did not fill up at the get-go.
    For example, a bar can get sonic blast from the Spellsinger tree. If you can only put one point in and drag it down to the bar, when you put the second and or third point into the ability you must drag it to the bar again or it will remain as a one point ability.
    Things like this are absolutely critical for new players to understand and even some experience players gloss over this fact.

      @@sharethepudding indeed. But I'm just passing on knowledge gleaned from Vudoo and Strimtom.
      I'm sure it was just an oversight that it wasn't mentioned in this video.

    How many Epic Levels do you have on your main character? How many epic levels does it take for an extra Epic Destiny skill point? What is your total number of levels, (heroic, racial, epic, iconic levels)? I think this video will help new players.

      For ED points and such, I did this video a while back explaining all that: czcams.com/video/kKdCSq0Ddac/video.htmlsi=LhIQLQuwPmu-TaWC

    The last time I played DDO was a few years ago, so what I'm about to say may be outdated. It's one of my favorite MMORPGs, but it can be challenging for beginners due to its character building system. If you make mistakes with your build, there's no easy way to respec without lesser reincarnation, which requires time and preferably higher character levels, or spending money for a quicker solution. One way to avoid this is by relying on community-written builds, but they are often outdated and are becoming increasingly rare on forums with each passing year. So, I value channels like this one, which share their passionate knowledge about the game with anyone interested.

    Axel,
    Great breakdown for us casual players who don't have the time to devote to finding that out. Several things were cleared up for me. Thank you.

    Was kind of hoping that even though I'm a from day one player to find some odd thing I missed, didn't: but have to say the comprehensive factor is high, you covered everything.

    I ddint know you could hover on the starts :D
    almost 10 years playing this game and I did not know
    Anyway the number of stars indicate the point build though. 1 star = 28 point, 1 + a smaller one = 32 point, 2 = 34 point, 3 = 36 points.
    You never get more than 3, there's no other way other than reincarnation to get those, so effectively it indicates the 1st,2nd,3rd+ lives, but you explanation doesnt take into consideration the 1+1smaller one version

    Is there a way to display your stat bonuses? Enhanced, insightful, quality, alchemical etc

      Far as I'm aware no not directly. Those bonuses just get lumped together as "items and effects" typically

    ddo isnt responding me so i have to leave this here. turkish players cannot connect to servers for years. their server provider is such that refuses ips from turkey. they are holding my 10 year old fully dlcd account hostage for years at this point.

    Hommie, I like your content. This character sheet run down for a "new player" is not it. For a moderate player/long time player, we are not learning anything. How would a new person, get into this game? I know you spent a lot of time making this content. But, this would be extremely confusing to new players.

    • @AxelAlexK
      @AxelAlexK  Před 5 měsíci +3

      I tried to keep it as clear and simple as I could. DDO is a very complicated game though. It's going to always be difficult for new players to get into it just by its nature, the learning curve is very high.

    • @patrickkennedy3066
      @patrickkennedy3066 Před 5 měsíci

      I understand it is hard. You have all of the game data in your head, and have some bias to beining a representative of the community. Take a moment, blank your mind. Pretend you are brand new to the game. If you rewatch this watch, do you think this video would be helpful

    • @brianstevens3858
      @brianstevens3858 Před 5 měsíci +1

      @@patrickkennedy3066 I think it would if I was a new player, find some of these answers elsewhere, you won't because most of the stuff out there is either new players themselves or aimed at the multilife endgame stuff. Is it simplistic no, is it an overblown add for the game, no, it's a run down of the character sheet. That is all it claimed to be.
