He literally explained in this video how the way his body reacts to the raw food diet changed over time. His blood sugar went up a bit more and feeling a bit sleepy after eating a high fruit meal. Also that his triglycerides started going up over time. So he had to make a change. And I guess he found out his microbiome wasn’t optimal either since he is eating to improve that too. And still people are asking why did he change his diet to adding some cooked foods.
I know from my own experience that the way my body reacts to the same foods have changed as I got older and certain foods I can tolerate less of. I know so many people with similar experiences.

😂 thanks for some sanity John! I’ve been veg 30 years, vegan 20 but never fully raw. I’ve needed to make adjustments in my diet throughout my 69 years. All of the finger-pointing is silly. Do your homework, pay attention to how you feel and get bloodwork if you’re feeling “off”. I’ve not used a microwave in 28 years. I do steam-fry on the stove and in the IP but mostly pressure cook with the IP. I also have had to use supplements from time to time. Thanks so much for all of you research and keeping eat real.❤

You are brave John. I have had to increase cooked foods… steamed potatoes, steamed vegetables…my organs slowly weren’t responding properly. I got malnutrtioned severely once as well.
Some may understand this… some of it is a certain programming. Raw foods can feel good and address some things. Including enjoying eating… and it can also just lack the heavier macros. Especially when in consistent physical activity.
You have been able to really live the king’s life of the raw ‘system’… with all your efforts. Good work.
I am currently making a video examining nourishment, cleansing and all that lies between that. And to help people be able to identify their own best eating choices holistically…

You bring such a value to us with your knowledge.. To all those 'religious' people I would say- food isn't nutricious as it used to be.. For example one study show that tomatoes have 80 % less of vitamin C than old varieties, 52 % less of lycopine .. almost no trace minerals.. We have to do what we can to ensure our body gets what it needs, within the vegan diet.. I would say most of those people who wrote those comments envy to what level you came.. Have regular sun baths, breathing exercises in the forest, clean water ( water has oxygen in it ), and organic plant food.. I would add to it medicinal plants, as I am plant medicine teacher.. but I get that knowledge about medicinal plants is lost.. incredibly missing in the human diet.

I totally respect your food choices, but I'm just curious if you were actually feeling bad or if it was just the microbiome test that made you add some cooked. It just seems strange that if you felt great and looked great and there were no issues, some human created test wouldn't even interest you. Most of these tests are created for standard dieters, are they not? Seems like maybe waiting for an issue to arise before changing anything would have been better? No judgements of course lol.

Hi John. You are very kind and honest to share your truth. Trust your body.
I was all raw for several years, then again after getting off of it. I am very athletic and
found I needed more calories and protein. I added sweet potatoes, and months later,
cooked beans. I do sometimes consume food for life sprouted english muffins, and
some millet, etcetera. But I am getting more calories and protein. I do find I could only
eat so many nuts and seeds, and even sprouted lentils, for protein, Just stay away from
anything from farm or marine animals of course. I also believe we can define ourselves
as "raw" with up to 25% cooked foods. Raw does not have to be 100% raw. Cheers.

  • @astonuk9403
    @astonuk9403 Před měsícem +3

I think the best argument is to tackle the world issues that plague us now and in the foreciming future of the ever-growing population, is to transition the majority of the populace to a plant based diet, reducing and replacing animal based farming operations into more sustainable and plant based systems which will be better long term for the planet and for the billions without adequate food. Many would benefit regardless of having a high raw diet if they find it easy and accessible, getting high quality raw food can be challenging in some environments.
I'd like to see some studies and technical innovations that can heat process food to access the nutrients at a temperature that keeps the nutrients or even amplifies the bioavailability of certain nutrients. Air frying and roasting at high temperatures seems counterproductive. I prefer slow cooking and pressure cooking, additionally, sprouting, fermenting and blending can provide more benefits by reducing anti-nutrients and increasing specific medicinal compounds e.g. prebiotics.
I recommend 0 mins on steam using the instant pot or any pressure cooker with a steam feature. My problem is not having more responsibility of growing my own food, I tend to get lazy and rely on local suppliers. Hope to get some tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, and herbs this year along with sprouting some beans as inspired by Doug Evans.
Good point on advising people to raise their own animals and killing them without the disconnect of the process of the reality of having to kill another being. I do not have the heart to take a life, though if one does, then at least have the courage to do it and be honest if it aligns with your character, beliefs and morals.
    Thank you John.

John thanks for your candid talks… even though I follow a lot of raw vegan channels I have never been drawn to hard fast rules in general …there are plenty of people in the world who do not eat fully raw and are healthy and live long lives…
Everyone has their 2 cents to put in and some people take it to the extreme…
Why can’t people just do what they feel is best for themselves and let everyone else live the way they see fit for themselves… live and let live.
You don’t have to agree with everyone on everything.
There is a certain raw vegan influencer online who promotes an extreme raw vegan diet, albeit healthy BUT he says ABSOLUTELY NO cooked foods… no ifs ands or buts… in my view that seems a bit extreme and doesn’t resonate with me.

He doesn’t eat much meat but he does eat some. So he doesn’t try to be perfect by any means, although it’s a lot better than the standard American diet having almost no dairy, no fried food, no junk, No alcohol.
The test you both used just takes a sample from one swipe, literally. The one fromGenova Labs as another example, is a lot more expensive and extensive, and you have to mix up your whole stool of that morning with a stick. They want to get stool from as much area of your gut as possible.
But it was a very funny story for me because for so many years you were always the person I thought would have the most diversity ever. And I’m not saying you don’t,because I think it would take perhaps some more careful scientific study and a number of tests from different labs.
Still it was really ironic, and here you are eating some cooked food. More power to you, you look great, and sound great.
Thank you for your amazing videos and inspiration over the years. Best of luck!❤ ❤

I never understand why people need to judge others for their food choices. Vegan, raw, vegetarian, pescatarian, breatharian, carnivore, eat whatever you feel your body needs and wants. In most health issues, processed foods are the problem, second comes fat + sugars mix causing gain weight for most people. Just eat whole foods (plant, carnivore, whatever you want), get out in sun and move and you will be healthy. As simple as that.

Hey John, one more comment; I believe Ayurvedic medicine mentions the importance of eating cooked food within 1-2 hours of being cooked for optimal nutritional benefits. Just like the method used to cook matters , apparently so does how quickly we eat it after being altered by heat. Leftover cook food is much much less beneficial as time goes by. I guess it makes sense, just like juicing and drinking quickly rather than waiting hours or days. That is not often looked at as it is quite inconvenient, if there is any truth to it.

People who eat a lot of fruit and want to know it’s effect on blood sugar can check their AIC, a lab test which will give you your average blood sugar reading over the past 3 months. It costs 30 dollars for the test. Then they can also get a 10 dollar glucose sensor and some strips. Then one can KNOW. Fruit is a combo of fructose, sucrose, and glucose. A mango for example has 3 x’s more sucrose than fructose.
The blood sugar will spike but if you do ten minutes of burst exercise blood glucose can drop 50 or more points. 🌺

A hot veggie soup and beans and popcorns and other vegan delicacies that are not "raw", makes my life complete. I juice still, make smoothies and salads, dehydrate... but i also bake oat bread. Hi John long long time viewer, 6 months ago I went carnivore and have noticed incredible health improvements, it's not too late jump on it. All fresh produce on Australian supermarkets shelves are poisioned with chemicals, I have heard vegans/vegetarians have the highest glyphosate levels! So much for being healthy, let alone the carb sugar bumps, all carbs become sugar once digested, so how can eating sugar all day be healthy?

  • @carinaekstrom1

Interesting information and ideas. But why would you respect someone who is able to raise an animal basically like a pet and then slit its throat and eat it? I think that behavior is potentially more psychopathic and worse than being a hypocrite buying meat in shops and pretending that the horror isn't happening. I respect people who take an honest look at the whole thing and realise how awful and unnecessary it is and decide to take an other route to self suffiency.

I don’t think cooking evolved humanity. It takes an already intelligent brain to master fire, and early humans would have 100% thrown food into dry heat and caused cancerous acrylamides or heterocyclic amine ladened foods. Either way do you, I eat cooked foods as I’m more of an ehretist, but when I do 100% raw that’s when I feel most in tune and high vibration. Fire has not been a net benefit for humans as a whole and its lead to species confusion, widespread eating of animals, processed foods and adding chemicals to our foods. Without cooked foods, people come to their senses, without being lead by the aftermath of the stove. Either way, love your content and enjoy learning from you.

    • @carinaekstrom1
      @carinaekstrom1 Před 28 dny +1

It really does not take much brain to master fire, but even if we already had a lot of intelligence, cooking gave us access to a lot more calories from foods that could not be eaten before. More people surviving, more social skills, more intelligence, and so on.

Maybe hominids saw birds do this and learned, or maybe the other way around, birds learning from hominids.
