    Thanks for the great video. I see you are using a normal guitar cable out to the mixer, whereas the HX manual says a TRS cable (by my understanding, a stereo Jack plug to XKR?). Is it okay to use a normal guitar cable, and I could use two for a stereo out to the mixer or my interface?

    • @hpmguitar
      @hpmguitar  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi Jim thanks for getting in touch with the question. I'll get Lewis to answer this one for you Monday morning. Best wishes, Ryan

    • @hpmguitar
      @hpmguitar  Před 3 lety +3

      Hi Jim, you can use balanced trs or unbalanced ts cables, trs is better for longer cable runs & you should consider using them where you can for the best signal quality but over short distances (mine are 4m) it isn’t as necessary. You can definitely use two normal guitar ts cables to do a stereo output to mixer/interface. If you notice noise in your signal that isn’t there when you use headphones, try a set of balanced cables.
      You can also get TS to XLR unbalanced cables but because xlr is typically mic level & not all interfaces / mixers will allow you to make the xlr Line Level instead of Mic, ts to ts guitar cables can be a good solution to get line level signals from the stomp to your interface/mixer etc. Let me know how you go! - Lewis.

    • @jimmcdougall9973
      @jimmcdougall9973 Před 3 lety

      @@hpmguitar Thank you Lewis. I have ordered a pair of TRS to LXR cables, and will see how they compare in quality to the TS cables. They will just be used in my home studio, so overs very short distance. Your advice is appreciated.

    • @hpmguitar
      @hpmguitar  Před 3 lety +2

      @@jimmcdougall9973 no trouble at all mate! Just make sure you set your input (XLR) level to “Line” if possible (sometimes there’s a button with Mic/Line or an input attenuator you can use labelled “PAD”) or go in to your global settings on the Stomp & turn the OUTPUT level down, at least to start with. I find it’s better to start quiet & slowly turn volume/gain up than DC your speakers 😂

    Thanks for the well-made informative video. I just ordered the HX and while waiting for it to get here, have been looking at videos and yours is the best so far !! Question: is there a way to select a few presets that come with the unit and place them in a way so that I can access them quickly in a gig without going through the list? thx

    • @hpmguitar
      @hpmguitar  Před 2 lety +1

      Glad you're enjoying the video and getting a head start before your unit arrives. There are two options. You can either just place a few presets next to one another - but I think you need to check out lewis' video on snapshots. They are a great way to use the unit in a live setting.

      @@hpmguitar Thank you, will definitely check the snapshot video. Is moving presets close to each other fairly intuitive to do?

    • @hpmguitar
      @hpmguitar  Před 2 lety

      @@mrx-in4xh Yes it is. I've only done it on my Helix (not the actual stomp itself). What you need to do is once you have found the patches that you like you just need to make sure that you save the copy of it to a clear user bank. Then you can arrange a few next to each other.
      Learning how to use snapshots will take a little work - but you will find in a live setting that it's a far easier way to operate the unit.
      Best of luck and let me know how you go,
      Ryan

    Hello mate - was thinking of buying one of these, I'm moving house and need something quiter- can the stomp to to an integrated amplifier then to passive speakers?

    • @hpmguitar
      @hpmguitar  Před 2 lety

      Hi Thanks for the question. The HX stomp provides a lot of variety of application. For example if you wanted to run it in to and amplifier you could use as a standard pedal (just make sure that you have the amp modelling and cab sim/IR turned off in this scenario).
      They sound fantastic straight into a P.A or studio monitors. Where we film our content I've got a Helix LT that I run straight into a set an interface with a set of monitors when I'm practicing or teaching - but when I'm filming I usually just connect the unit via USB straight into a laptop and it acts as a audio interface where you can record directly.
      Let me know if there is other questions and let me know if you go ahead and purchase the unit.
      Best wishes,
      Ryan

    Hi Thankyou so much what do you set the global EQ SETTINGS TOO? on initial set up kind regards

    • @hpmguitar
      @hpmguitar  Před 2 lety

      Thanks for the comment. No, not unless it was for a specific situation that needed (on a gig where the room sounds a certain way as one example). Generally I would leave the global EQ settings otherwise and just work with the many tone shaping options you have in the patches.
      I hope that helps!

    • @stephenfell4338
      @stephenfell4338 Před 2 lety

      @@hpmguitar Thank you so when using XLR cables from HX to interface do you then set in global settings line, instrument, line?

    • @hpmguitar
      @hpmguitar  Před 2 lety

      It will depend on what the interface is expecting at it’s input. Most XLR will be mic level however if it has a line level switch then absolutely@@stephenfell4338. Jump into your global settings & set the output L & R levels to Line Level.
      If you were using the fx loops for line level (like integrating a rack processor) or for some fun routing, then you can set those to line level too.
      The HX series is a little more forgiving than older gear, there is certainly some wiggle room to use your ears however ideally you will get the best signal to noise ration when you match line out of the HX device to line in of your interface. The connections type (XLR or TRS) doesn’t always mean one specific type of signal. I find it more common for more portable interfaces to have TRS for line & XLR for mic level. I hope that helps, let us know how you go! - Lewis.

      Hi Willy, Thanks for the message and getting in touch, I'll have a look into this one and see if there was something mishandled in the export/upload process. All videos are exported in uploaded to CZcams in HD usually. Also, double check you playback settings on your youtube player (sometimes they can set to a lower speed depending on the speed of the internet connection).
