Fun fact: it was Tilda Swinton's idea to have a cameo in this. She met Jemaine Clement when the Shadows movie was appearing in a film festival at the same time as her vampire movie, and she said it would be great if she got to hang out with the other vampires in the show. And it sort of snowballed from there. Other fun fact: Cate Blanchett expressed an interest in being one of the Vampiric Council, but Taiki Waititi told her she couldn't, because unlike the others, she'd never played a vampire in a movie.
Peronally, I would have taken the very incompetent and awkward Council even further with that and set her up as the "Vampire" member that not actually a Vampire but a human playing as one, drop out a fake fang or something.

What made the original short-movie & movie so special were all those unexpected concepts and reintepretations of known Pop Culture information.
I really didn't expect much from this show, but it manages to become even better with each season.

@@belle.m I think the exception is that Taika and Co are playing the same vampires from that movie (Iago, Deacon, Vladislav), whereas everyone else is playing themselves (Tilda, Evan, Danny, Paul, Wesley) as vampires.

According to a TV guide interview, Brad Pitt was interested but got back to them super late and at that point they already had the cameos lined up. Season 3 maybe.
All three apparently wanted to but couldnât at the time, so maybe weâll get lucky
if Brad Pitt came in, I'd imagine someone not getting their cameo (looking at Wesley or Paul). I mean can you imagine his rates? They already got Tilda there, major star power = major paycheck. The 3 from the movie are also producers for the show, so I guess they can 'contribute their time'. I can't imagine it for any other reason other than Tom H was busy that they could not get him to join Tilda for this cameo, pretty sure Taika has him on speed dial after doing Thor.
The bit about the human food and Wesley is like âyou mean like a hamburger or something...?â The detail and commitment for him being a half breed... in the midst of all of this wacky-hilarious-ness... it just lol

I think its so much funnier with Rob, Kiefer, Tom and Brad not showing up and everybody is like: "Oh of course, they think they're something better." It just adds to the whole joke of them not living up to your expectation of "the Vampire Council". Yeah, they got some, but their Vampire roles are all a bit obscure and the big legendary vampire roles don't even bother. And then they have to fall back to Blade, who is not even a full vampire. It's like they really tried to shoot for more, for a full hall of fame and fell short and had to resort to less iconic vampires. And that, i think, makes the cinematic poetry of this scene. The masterfully pulled off diletantism.

This is the best scene in all of television. The cameo of the movie cast, the celebrity cameos of Trejo, Reubens, and Swinton and of course Wesley Snipes just being Wesley Snipes. This scene is hilarious.
Tilda Swinton and Danny Trejo are two of my favorite actors but I also gained a new sense of respect for all the other actors who made a cameo in this scene.

I appreciate that they're actually just referencing cameos that they couldn't get with the obvious reasons. Robert Pattinson? Trying to put Twilight behind him and move on with his career, doesn't want to be associated. Kiefer Sutherland? Probably could, but scheduling conflicts are what they are. Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt? Yeah, probably couldn't get them anyways. Probably couldn't even get past their agent.
I doubt Cruise and Brad Pitt even wants to reprise those characters. from what I can see, they probably weren't really that fond of that movie (considering they never even mentioned that movie or anything about their characters afterwards) I read that they even had some disagreements and Pitt really hated working in that set environment
pattinson literally still mentions twilight in interviews today. he owes starting up his career to it, despite the long-term hate. he's not trying to put it all behind him. most of the actors not available were due to sched conflict
He still talks about Twilight in interviews because heâs polite and is asked about it, Iâm sure if he had a choice heâs rather not talk about it

This show is just as hilarious! Matt Barry as Lazlo is one of the best characters imo. Jackie Daytona! Comedic gold. Great writing & acting from all of the cast.

When Rob, Tom and Brad were mentioned, everyone understood their lack of availability. 'Was he busy?' was a statement that they thought he would be available because he doesn't seem to have much going on right now. Which is insulting to Kiefer.

Oh wow, the cameos of all the various vampiric across from different projects over the years, I love it!
I just recently watched the movie "Only Lovers Left Alive" which starred Tilda Swinton and Tom Hiddleson. NOW I understand Swinton being a "guest vampire" in this series. I loved the movie, and the soundtrack is KILLER - I totally recommend both!
